Thats a shame about the pics not working Heu:( are you loading them correctly? Hope you can fix the problem.

In regards to the shield, are you saying that the marks we've been seeing on them is infact the airbubbles from a thin protective layer of plastic? Can this layer be removed, as in peeled off? :dunno

Alright, photo links fixed! :D I hope you guys would find my first impressions review useful for now. I had to do it rather quickly as I have to beat the rush hour.

Alas they seem to be. :(

Thanks for the initial reactions.

fixed, amigos! :D

Roberto, THat's what I wanted to see as well -- if it's a film layer/coating that we can peel off. However, I can't pry on it as the storekeeper was already nice enough to let me get a feel of the shield's thickness.

Looks like that layer is supposed to be peeled off.

Tell the shopkeeper that its matter of life and death! Maybe sneek a tug at the film whilst the shop keeper is turned away and see if it peels off! I hope it can be peeled off as the gloss look is awful!

LOL it might cost the kind storekeeper her job!

Kidding aside, seeing the actual car made me care less about the shield. If the film turns out to be something that *shouldn't* be peeled off, then I guess it is what it is, like a dust cover for a book that would still be great with or without it :D

(or put the car on the dining table and take the cover off while saying "and now for our main dish..."):lol

Oh well, whether the layer of film can be removed or not, we are going to find out one way or another as this beast ships out next week!!!! :rock

Man, that thought might backfire. I can already hear my parents telling me "so this is where all the food allowance went?"

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Okay, guys -- here are my first impressions on the MMS 170 Batmobile. I apologize for the crappy tablet photos made even worse by the flash -- the shop was so dimly lit! Anyway...

Paint/Finish:

The paint is very good. It has a very convincing metallic finish, not too glossy, not matte either. It has a smooth coating, but oily hands can leave fingerprints that need buffing with a microfiber cloth (the display unit had some fingerprints from people who obviously ignored the "hands off" sign. Can't blame them). The rims aren't glossy, but the color I can't really tell given the lighting at the shop, though it looks neither too dark nor too light gunmetal.

Size/Scale:

This thing is humongous. The storekeeper had tape measure handy, and I used it to get these dimensions (which may not be 100% accurate as I can't let the tape touch the car): Length is about 39.5", Width of the car's widest part i.e. the rear is 16", and height is about 10". The rear wheel is about 5.5" in height.

The inside of the canopy looks too small for the DX09, but the rest of the car I think is in-scale with the figure.

Those "bumps" that we saw on the previous photos, the ones located on the inside of the fins at the rear, are actually covers for the screws similar to those we see on truetype bodies.

Now, The SHIELDS:

It's not made of what most of us hope for, but neither is it as flimsy as the Bat-Pod re-issue cape holder. It maybe of the same material, but at least 5 times or more thicker. I got to touch it and I think it can't easily be torn. HOWEVER, the finish is what made it look cheap. And it's not consistently done!

The body of the shield appears to have thin film lamination -- which gives it the glossy look and smooth feel. Apart from that, the lamination has bad quality you can see airpockets/bubbles all over it, the ones some of us have mistaken for cracks/scratches on previous photos.

The wheel part of the shield though, is different -- it has the same thickness, but may not be made of the same material as the body as it has a more matte, textured finish! :lol

I wonder why HT didn't use the same plastic for the shield's body.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see and take photos of the interiors, as well as photos of the car lit up. Once we start getting these in-hand I'm sure more people can give us more in-depth review of the car.

That's it for my first impressions! My thanks to Toy Empire at Shoppesville for letting me take a lot of photos! :wave

Thanks so much man!
Bummed about the fact that the DX 09 might not be able to fit properly inside the cockpit, but WTH, I can always display it standing next to it.
How would you rate the "wow" factor regarding the size of this thing? Opening the tumbler for the first time is still one of my most treasured memories!
Thanks again for taking the time and snapping those pics man!

My pleasure, buddy!

I think DX09 can fit okay inside the car, it's just that the interiors look too small. I wish I could touch the figures so I could see if it would look much better if I futz the cape.

As for the wow factor, man, I think I sort of had a tunnel vision towards this thing. It was only when I was about to leave that I noticed how good-looking a figure HT's Hulk is, and Hulk, as you can see on the photos is just beside the car :lol even random window-shoppers who went in as I talked to the shopkeeper spent more time ogling at the Batmobile more than anything else :exactly:

Holly hell, i didn't EVEN noticet hulk! (Eve though I have an open WL for him on SS). Wow wow wow. Now that you
mention it though, he is kind of huge isn't he?
Yeah, I do think that the cape plays a big part into the whole "fitting well into the cockpit thing", I'm definitely getting a Meis cape for this guy today.
And it looks that the shield will end up being a dust cover and nothing more after all.
Can't wait up get this thing delivered!

Wish we had shops like that over here in the UK! So much awesomness in just that one pic, i can only imagine what else they have inside. If i was lucky to even got to somewhere like that i can see myself staying there for hours!! From the pic you can see the HT Hulk, HT Batmobile and DX09, Wolf Predator LSF, Joker PF, Superman Comiquette (i think?), HT Iron Man, Darth Maul LSF, and an Optimus Prime figure that i've not seen before! Cool!

Can't wait to get Hulk behind the steering wheel of this baby.

Hulk looks like he's watching, waiting to burst through and jump on the Batmobile. :lol

Great pics and thanks for the write up HeubertMichael! Can't wait for the Batmobile! (And Hulk)
