Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

The electronics switch could have been activated by one of the three levers inside the cockpit like the toynami version.

...Hang on a second!

You don't have this in hand yet??? and you are disagreeing with me how easy it is to access the on/off switch in the trunk?
:lol

It wouldn't have been much trickier than the trunk. Which you really have to PULL at to get off. :lol

I know right, the nerve of this guy! (me) :lol I'll have to see how hard I gotta pull to get that trunk off tomorrow. Maybe you've just got weak arms mate. :nana: Just kidding! You're right though, on principal... you've got the actual hands-on experience that I don't (for now) about how easy/hard the trunk is to open for access. :1-1:

I still maintain that from a design standpoint the inside of the trunk is the probably the best place to hide a traditional 1:1 "on/off" switch on a 1:6 car without disrupting any gadget features and display options. The natural seam is "built-in" to the design already, so to make that an open-able hatch makes sense (just like it made sense when ToyBiz did it, not that that Batmobile is anywhere close to this one)/ Yet we never see it open in the films, so whatever they put in there doesn't contradict anything on screen. And it doesn't sacrifice any accuracy just for the sake of jamming a switch into the design.

As for DiFabio's suggestion:

The electronics switch could have been activated by one of the three levers inside the cockpit like the toynami version.

I really like this idea. Aside from what I said before about having to open the cockpit every time, I think that's pretty sleek and inconspicuous because it completely hides the fact that it's the switch at all. From a usability standpoint though, I'd be wary of breaking one of those long, thin, 1:6 levers by repeatedly sliding them on of off, or even just rubbing some of the paint/decals off over time. Even if they were made of metal, I'd worry about handling bending and snapping them eventually. They could make the levers shorter, thicker and more durable, to handle it better, but then they'd be sacrificing/compromising on a little bit of visual accuracy just to add to function. A short, stumpy, traditional 1:1 switch is built for that.

You can open trunk pretty easy and dont have to close it completely and it will be safe to stay. If displaying like pic above and you can have the cover off and not know it in pics.

I wonder if could mod to plug in ,instead of batteries. I put my shiield back in the huge box no room to display it...

You can even keep Batman's junk in the trunk. :monkey1

To anyone interested, you can polish the paintwork up a bit with a decent microfibre cloth. Looks a little nicer.:)
Have you had a chance to take any additional pics, Rorywan?

Very sturdy ,user friendly to take off can fit a crapload of bat accessories or groceries in there or villian's for transport.:lol

:lol good idea. I was thinking about getting a box to put joker and batman's accessories into when this beast arrives, as I won't want them scattered alongside the figures anymore. But maybe they'd all fit in the trunk?

Could be this week. Why send that email now if it isn't coming soon?

Judging by the picture below leads me to believe that the cockpit is removable, and that's a good thing...because with the cockpit closed, it was very hard to see the figure inside. Does anybody have any pictures "zoomed out" a bit showing Batman in the car without cockpit? Is it possible to do this without damaging the cockpit? Thanks.

The fact that it's probable to "remove cockpit".......might sway me to purchase this Beauty.

Yes, the cockpit is removable and Hot Toys recommends doing so while seating Batman in the car. But if you display this thing with the cockpit removed I'm going to find where you live and take your Batmobile away from you. :nana:

Cool!!! Any pics of Batman in the car with the cockpit closed......is it easy to view him in there.......thru the plastic/glass window? This is the clincher for me on whether i'll purchase or not. :yess:

The windows are tinted; I don't think you'll be able to tell whether he's in the car or not when the canopy is closed.

Spent some major time rearranging my collection rooms this weekend in anticipation of this beast's arrival. One room is entirely Keaton Bats/ Reeve Supes now... with a big Batmobile-sized empty spot plopped in the center of one wall. :)
