Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

1 year away is a pretty long time, let's see if HT will tweak the final product to make it better.... who knows right....

Absolutely possible. Hot Toys has tweaked products between the official specs & pics and the release date before (Superman and Blade, IIRC). Sure, I'd like it if the round out the rear fenders and fins, but I'm buying it regardless.

:yess::lol:yess:

Good job DarkMagic.

You didn't make all that up did you. :lol

Thanks dude. :hi5: I was as thorough as possible so if anyone who is interested in the dimensions could check the math if they wanted. It's important to me to have something to back up my conclusion beyond "it looks short/long/just right to my eye". The side effect of that kind of thoroughness is a lot of numbers. :monkey4

I succeded! Canceled my PO last night.. I'm setteling for just the Tumbler :)

:gah: Nooooooo!!! Hopefully your preorder was from one of the retailers that doesn't charge a NRD.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

The sides are taller to fit the figure.
With so much on HT's schedule, it's reasonable to assume we're looking at the final version. I don't think they will spend any more time fixing the shape of the rear fender or rear fins.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

This beats the Tumbler in every single way in my humble opinion.

Yeah that is what I think too. But going by the experience of those who have received their DX09 already, you probably can't get the figure into a seated position for the Batmobile without damaging it anyway. If HT realizes this, they might as well modify it for more accuracy on the sides.

(And include a seated figure solution )

I hope so too.
Oh, and I completely appreciate the research you did averaging the length/width ratio on those select models. It appears HT may have done the same. :)

I'm inclined to agree with Boba, in that this does seem better than the Tumbler, but then, that's also something of an unfair comparison, as well, as all of these features were part of the source material, even in the films, the Tumbler has nowhere near the amount of features that the 89 Batmobile had, in fact, the only things I can think of are the "rocket mode" thing, and the fact that it launches out a Bat-Pod when it blows up. Neither of those features seem like they'd be very easy to integrate into a collectible. These things are already a _____ to get through customs, let alone if Hot Toys made them ready to explode.:lol

very cool, I would like to order on flexpay but probably can't until after may/june too many flexpays going on right now to add something that large.

But, Hot Toys should have made the Tumbler with a stealth mode :lol. Imagine having something like that pass through customs.

So at $611 AE is looking like the cheapest place to get it in the states?

The funny thing is, and I don't mean this in a negative way, when you add up all your flex pays, it's as if you're buying a new figure every month anyway. :lol

At the very least, multi flex pays puts you in the queue to get whatever those items are. Which is better than leaving it to chance that one will be available for you on release day.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

I didn't believe you but you were right! I lined up the rear tires perfectly and lots of things are off - most noticeably the wheel base is wrong and the side aero vents.

HT has already said that they had to shorten the backend by a couple inches to keep the pricetag relatively low

Are you referring to the translated article? I believe that is mistranslated, since at 39" L x 16" W, HT's is not only in perfect scale to one official measurement, but also in scale with every other scale model of the Batmobile including those that are so small they have no reason to be shortened.

Unless they are all also way off, HT's isn't either.

All the Tumbler did was fly (on rooftops). The best thing to come out of the Tumbler was, well, the Batpod. It literally came out of it! :lol

It's ugly, looks like some kind of beetle (the Batman Forever Batmobile looked like an H.R. Giger reject, Cricket) with big, black, metal tumors/panels. It's all about being big, military and tank like but ironically, the '89 Batmobile is larger than it!

Yo Tumbler, imma really happy for you and imma let you finish, but the '89 Batmobile is the best Batmobile of all time! OF ALL TIME!

Was that confirmed? I thought that was one of those rumors about a month ago that claimed that it was shortened for price and that it would be about $900. That ended up not being true. The length is correct to me, from the looks of it. The only thing "wrong" or, well, off is some of the boxy, rigid attributes of it, such as the fins. Other than that, I don't think anything has been compromised with the size, has it?

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Overpriced?

This thing is over three feet long and dwarfs the Tumbler. How much did you expect to pay?

Some of these guys are still stuck in 1990 prices. :slap It's part of their generation being spoiled and expecting everything handed to them on a silver platter.

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

Sshhhh!
I agree, but we don't want to hurt the Tumbler's feelings.
Let's keep it down.

I ordered the tumbler instead of this. If I had to go into battle, I'd take the tumbler over this phallic roadster. :lol

I did love the movie...it was part of my childhood since I was 14 when it came out. But the new movies and the tumbler feel more like Batman to me.

That said, HT did an amazing job offering this. I'm sure those that bought it will be over the moon when they see them in person. :wave

Oh I agree, right now I am in the middle of like 5-6, which means that is about 2-3 statues a month, but nothing to show for it, if no delays I should be getting 3-4 next month, which will be fun :) And if Lara comes early (was just pushed back a month) that will be 3 statues and 2 12" Joes

Not just that, but this IS the batmobile. If that makes sense.

Like Christopher Reeve IS Supeman. I know it is a generational thing but I know what I mean. :lol

Resisted the tumbler with ease but this thing is as good as bought. Gorgeous. :clap

Re: Hot Toys Batman 1989: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible Vehicle - Specs & Pics

I'm not trying to defend the price, but it's not like this is $700-$1000 like everyone had feared. For awhile there, I did think it was going to be $900 or so based on all the speculation and doubt.

But we ended up with $566 - $629, that's really not bad to me. I don't have the statistics to back it up but I swear that, for a majority of people I read that that $530-$600 range is the absolute most they would be willing to pay and if it pushed $700 or more they were out.

Well, the price we finally got pretty much reflects that. Not low, but not extremely expensive. I don't see what the problem is.

Collectors had no problem paying $1000 or around $1000 for the Tumbler on the secondary market, I believe I saw one sell at a crazy $1,500 price. Yet, here comes a more affordable 1/6 vehicle and a few people are unhappy with the price. The Tumbler is $470. The '89 Batmobile is $630, depending where you go. That's roughly only $160.

Look at these specs,

Tumbler Batmobile

- Authentically detailed Sixth Scale model car measures approximately 29 inches L x 18.5 inches W x 11 inches H

- Identically to scale with Hot Toys' Sixth Scale Batman Figure

- Detailed Cockpit

- 2 seats

- Roof panel slides open to allow access for Sixth Scale Batman

- Movable braking flaps

- Headlights feature light-up function (Requires Three (3) AAA Batteries - Not Included)

VS.

The Batmobile

-Authentically detailed 1:6 scale model car measures approximately 39 inches L x 16 inches W x 9 inches H

-Perfect scale to Hot Toys Batman (1989) Sixth Scale Collectible Figure

- Detailed Cockpit

- 2 seats

- Headlights, Taillights, and Interior feature light up function

- Working door/canopy allows for sliding function

- Articulated flaps on both sides

- Detachable side plane (shin breakers)

- Two (2) detachable side hooks on each side

- Two (2) machine guns

- Detachable base

- Batmobile's Shields

---------------------------------------------------

The '89 Batmobile is 10 inches longer than the Tumbler, it's larger than the Tumbler and has about 6-7 more features than the Tumbler. Features like machine guns, gadgets, articulated pieces and armored covering.

That along with the premium price (I'm sure the '89 license is worth more than The Dark Knight) I don't see why $160 more is that hard to cope or understand.

1/6 figures are $200 - $260 a pop now. Is anyone surprised that a vehicle is about twice as much?
