Just a couple quick pics. I still love this thing, and the one small scratch will never rob me of enjoying it day after day....thankfully you can't really even see it.

Seeing that, I'm so glad I've kept my order.

So I just got my shipping soon notice from SSC for the 20th, I guess this is when the next shipment is coming in? Wonder what preventive measures HT and SSC have added this time to protect the Batmobile like they said they would for the next shipment.

I am really nervous, but I really want the Batmobile.

It has not really been that long before since the last batch. I would think this shipment would have been boxed up and being loaded on the boat when the issues really started to show up. I really hope i am wrong and it has been fixed.

So how many of you are DONE with SS and HT now that this has happened?

I honestly don't see this as a SSC issue but entirely HT, SSC is just the middle-man in this case.

I'll keep ordering SSC but I'm done with HT I think. I only ever but the 89 stuff from HT anyways.
However I kind of really want their Robocop since no one else has done a good one yet. I'm hoping the PCS statue is previewed soon so I can make a decision.

I agree 100%, why would sideshow send damaged product to customers KNOWING ITS DAMAGED??? Its a HOT TOYS quality control issue and its been like this ever since their first figures. Prices go up quality goes down. In the long run sideshow is not going to take the hit, Hot toys will. Due to their crappy shipping methods and practices :hi5:

why would sideshow send damaged product to customers KNOWING ITS DAMAGED???
Because there's a 56% chance it won't be damaged. And not all of the damaged 44% are going to notice or care enough to hound Sideshow for reimbursement.

The last thing Sideshow wants is a bunch of Batmobiles they can't sell; they've just got to get rid of the stock. So, they're refusing to open and inspect the units beforehand; they just want to get the things in customers hands in hopes that once they have the thing in their possession they'll keep it. It's better to be out $100 per unit than to be sitting on stacks of $600 product no one wants.

It's super sleazy, but I get the impression Hot Toys' customer service is basically non-existent and therefore Sideshow has no way of obtaining new, undamaged stock. Once Hot Toys is done building Batmobiles, they're done.

If Sideshow wanted to do right by their customers, they'd be opening the boxes - inspecting for scratches - and adding a sheet of protective foam fabric between the Batmobile and the shield prior to shipping to customers. But they don't want to risk the possibility that 44% of their stock is pre-damaged and would have to be pulled aside.

will you guys keep the damaged Batmobile if SideShow give you a larger reimbursement...like $150?

so what SS and BBTS going to do with all the damaged Batmobile?

Sell them as "scratch & dents" at reduced prices or ship them back to Hot Toys and they'll get refurbished and sold as "Batman Returns version."

BBTS already offered me the $150.00 and I turned it down,I believe this piece should be flawless.

:lecture:exactly: The only way I would keep it after paying $750 is if they gave a full refund. This thing is a masterpiece and should be perfect. If your car is totalled by the insurance company they insure you for the value. Since body work and replacement parts is not an option on these for scratches and glue stains you are pretty much out the value. Good luck reselling it on ebay with the damages at significantly depreciative value. Those that have a mint undamaged car are going to be able to get 3-4 times what they paid for theirs. In other words, 1 in 2 Batmobiles will be damaged. Those are terrible odds.

I don't ever plan on selling mine on eBay anyway so I can live with one small scuff, especially since after the refund I'm paying less than $500 for mine.

BBTS charged mine just now.... I have not received any conformation from the Inspection service email that mine has been inspected. I'm still trying to find someone who has had their inspected by BBTS and received a perfect Batmobile.... The suspense is killing me.....

This is the best Quote I have found so far in this thread...... " Batman Returns Version" hahaha :lol :lol :lol

Looking at my Batmobile and the underside of the armor/shell, as well as the condition of the box it came in, I have a wacky hypothesis to share:

It appears the scratches on the sides of the canopy are indeed coming from the underside of the armor shell, but how it happened may not be because of heavy item placed on top of it. I have looked at the underside of the box and noticed that mine has pretty serious damages in the mid section (where the small mid section T piece is) and it is at the ground level.

My hypothesis is that during shipment, while stacking the Batmobile on top of other boxes, the Batmobile, along with the cardboard base that it is botted onto is pushed up (near the center area) and rubbed the interior of the shell armor in an up/down motion (hence the line(s)). The weakness of the packaging is not the top, but the bottom.

So the only way to protect the Batmobile is to put a layer of foam between the car and the shell at least in the canopy area.

I asked the Manager Mike @ BBTS if they could place a foam sheet between the Cocoon and the Batmobile, he told me no because that foam could cause more damage. I just dont understand that response. I mean if they are taking the time to QC it, then they should be placing a thin layer of foam for us.

A sheet of that soft fabric foam that's slipped between the finished boards of unassembled furniture would do the trick, I believe.
