The Delorean will be far enough off that I may quite possibly buy it. Its the last of the massively iconic vehicles of the 80s that I could possibly want. And yes, scratches on that thing wouldn't be as unsightly as they are on the 89mobile.

I could say something like that but then they'd go and announce an "Ecto-1"...

...and then I'd be screwed. :wink1:

And Cornerstore is in Anaheim, CA with Sideshow in Thousand Oaks, CA? That's a 70-mile distance - Corner Store probably picks up their merchandise from Sideshow directly. If Corner Store hasn't had a single damaged unit then it's statistically impossible these are getting damaged at the Hot Toys factory; I stand by my theory that the damage is occurring when the boxes are being shipped around the United States either flipped upside down (pressing the un-foamed part of the coccoon against the car) or with heavy boxes stacked on top.

Again, mine arrived from Alter Ego in perfect condition and the top of the box was literally bulging in it's pristine condition; it had clearly never been left upside down or had anything heavy stacked atop it, and I don't think that's a coincidence.

I think you are right about the scuffs/scratches. It must be how the boxes are getting handled by 3rd party couriers like UPS. I had a buddy get me a Super 7 Alien early bird at SDCC and he shipped it in a sturdy cardboard box wrapped in layers and layers of bubble wrap and it arrived DESTROYED and I am still trying to get reimbursed from UPS for the $100 it cost for a cardboard stand.

Your theory doesn't hold water though against the glue residue which was clearly done at the factory and slipped through QC unnoticed.

Someone else on here said they had their box arrive in perfect condition also but still had serious damage to the car.
Not sure who it was but they checked the box and packaging completely trying to figure out how it could have caused the damage never found anything.

I too am a victim of the infamous Batmobile scuff job,So I contacted the place that purchased this item from ( BBTS) and told them if I couldn't get a replacement that I would be unable to display this piece with these un godly blemishes.BBTS Then responds "Would I be interested in the $100.00 store credit" to keep the damaged beast :panic::thud: I replied "uh no I would not like ****ty $100 just to have a damaged piece of this size sitting in my house...DENIED!!!! BBTS then gets back tome today offering me now $150 to keep it:slap I thought I made it clear that I refuse to display this piece with scratches on it and if I can't get a replacement I want a full refund...Thank you. They have yet to respond.

I have two gripes with SS about what they are doing.

1. If they are paying for shipping for a return, what the hell are they doing with them all?

2. I don't like the fact they know a big % of these are messed up AND THEY ARE STILL GOING TO SELL THEM. That right there is nothing but a big fat **** you to all customers. If they do post a disclaimer on their site, they should discount them from the get go. You can't say 50% chance of getting a bad one, but pay full price and you can't do **** about it, because of a disclaimer.

Has anyone here bought anything from urbansamuraihobbie's website? I ended up buying the batmobile from their site, I have never bought anything from it and am wondering how they treat their internet customers in general.

Maybe they'll resell them later (either directly or through a retailer) at a discount as damaged/opened pieces, so that they're not a total loss. I've seen BBTS do that in the past. Maybe if they get enough of them, they'll put them on a container back to HT manufacturing and they'll be repainted/refurbished/repackaged for a later wave or release under the Batman Returns banner.

This is why what you propose here isn't a fair solution: If they put a disclaimer on the site AND sell them ALL from now on at a discount because of the 50% chance that a customer gets a bad one.....what about all the customers that get flawless one. They get a perfect Batmobile at a discount price according to your plan. Will they just then send Sideshow payment in the amount of the discount because of the honor code? :lol SS starts selling some (maybe) flawless Batmobiles at a discount. How is that fair to all the people who already paid FULL PRICE? Under your plan, the only fair thing for every customer is for SS to start cutting checks for everybody who bought a Batmobile from them, no matter when they ordered, and no matter if it is damaged or not.

Essentially an across the board markdown in price. Then of course the people who got damaged Batmobiles will demand a further discount on top of that, (that's fair right? Since theirs must be worth less than the discounted flawless ones) ...and we're back where we started.

50/50 is not an acceptable ratio. No matter what, half the people will get a mint one and the other half will get screwed. You can try to pacify the people who got screwed with discounts and credits but at the end of the day they are left with a collectible that is damaged and less valuable than one that was undamaged.

These companies need to take QC VERY seriously. It is the most important precaution and insurance to their business. When you ignore that fact then the customer loses confidence in your products and you lose business. How many people have already had second thoughts based on the QC issues with this release? How many will be reluctant to make a purchase like this on a similar big ticket item in the future? This was handled poorly between Hot Toys QC and Sideshow CS. They need get their manufacturing up to where an acceptable margin of error is less than 2%.

Yep, my box arrived in perfect condition including the shipper, despite this I still found one solitary scratch mark in the usual place behind the cockpit plus the gluey residue on the circle window! :horror

Anyone else notice that the original prototype shield was more like Returns with the squat rectangular center column, but the one we got is like the '89 shield?

Additionally, the lift was more detailed with rivets around the edge and a more convincing metallic appearance.
