It's the crown Jewel in my collection. Keaton Batman is still my favorite version and I am glad they did such a great job on the Batmobile. I need to get mine set up again in the new house. I was able to get a good deal on the Batman Returns figure set an I am thinking of putting Bruce Wayne in the car. The electrics were cool but the afterburner needs to be brighter but I never really use them. The thing is a dust magnet for sure too.

A dust magnet is an understatement. Haha!!
I was giving my vehicles a bit of a dusting this morning.
By the time you finish.. you have to start all over again.

My dude, did you move the vehicles when you dust them? I regret not getting the THE Tumbler when it got released a second time! But i almost regret the BBTS clearance sale when they were going for 399 for second hand bat mobiles with the infamous scuff marks.

I can imagine years down the road an unopened one will fetch a lot!

Nice collection of vehicles. If your also after the Hot Toys "The Bat" popculture have them at 40% off at the moment, and with the low aussie dollar, it would be a steal for you.

I’m waiting to hot toys re releases this vehicle under the returns banner. Maybe one day when they want to pay respect to DC again and stop licking marvels and star wars nuggets..

I don’t think they will, mainly because the original has a bunch of Returns features. I can’t see them revisiting this thing due to that and the size alone.

Another more adventurous company may still do large vehicles, but I don’t think this is where HT’s business model has landed.

Man, the Batmobile just completely dwarfs the DeLorean in that pic.

And I don't know why, but it always feels to me like the Tumbler should be a whole lot bigger than that, since it came across as absolutely massive on screen. Strange to see it being not much bigger than the DeLorean there.

Yeah i don’t think we’ll ever see a returns version. HT called it «*89 Batmobile*» because it is the original car we saw first on screen but the HT version is mix of both versions with a Returns general paint job, 89 rims ( unfortunately too light) and all the features of both films.
So no chance to see a 92 version IMO...:dunno

Well I wasn't expecting it so soon (only 5 days after being shipped from HK), but my Batmobile arrived today and looks freakin incredible... and enormous! I haven't had time to think of a proper display yet, but here's a few quick pics I took of it in my IKEA shelf. Thankfully all the lights work fine, although I did unfortunately find a couple small scuff marks on the driver's side of the canopy. They aren't very noticeable in the shadowy lighting of my house though, so I guess I can probably live with it.

I've also ordered a wired Unreal Toys cape for my Batman, so I can hopefully have him looking a whole lot cooler alongside his car.

Congratulations!!! It’s a wonderful piece!
Yeah it’s huge but so awesome! Something we will not see again in the future!

Just got to unboxing this afternoon. The car is in pristine condition.

And absolutely beautiful.

Huge, useless and fragile.

And just stunning.

What a fantastic piece.

Haven’t even unscrewed it from the packing yet.

Congratulations guys! Looks awesome and huge on your shelf, DaveJames! Excellent!

Here's most, not all, of my 1989 Batmobiles. This pic doesn't even include the Hot Toys cause it was just too big.

Hey man....I don't have a problem....YOU have a problem.....I can't quit anytime, I swear!!

I know this is probably considered more of a Batman Returns Batmobile with the extra features it comes with, but I'm really wishing HT went with the gun metal gray nose from the first movie instead. As that's always somehow looked a lot cooler to me than the black. I'm kinda debating now if I want to repaint the nose on mine...

I know people have posted pics with the wheels painted, but I haven’t seen any with the nose painted gunmetal. I’d be interested in seeing it! I’m sure you’ll post here if you do it.

Honestly i repainted the wheels and rims not to do a Returns version but to fix the stock rims that for me were not accurate and way too lights compared to the prototype. If HT had kept the grey they showed on the proto, I would have not did a repaint. Even if i’ve always thought that 89 is far superior to Returns, the Batmobile is definitely much more sexier in the second movie.

Concerning the noose of the turbine i would not risk a repaint because the shape is not accurate, too round and not as curvy as the real one or the one of the Hot Wheels version. But in black it is ok and not as noticeable as if it was painted in silver. So i’m not sure that it could be a good idea but it is only my personnal opinion.

Yeah if I do it, I'll probably make it a darker gunmetal than they used for the rest of the car. And I haven't studied the wheels too closely yet. Are the rims supposed to be gunmetal in the first movie and black in the second? Or was it just the bat symbol that's black?

In returns they are painted in a semi gloss or satin black like the entire car with the bat symbols in metal finish.

In 89 it is a little bit more complicated. The car was already painted in a semi gloss black, almost identical than returns contrary at what most people think but the rims were painted in a complex silver/dark metal/bronze paint very difficult to reproduce, already with the bat symbol in metal finish.

Everyone thinks that it is silver due to some promo pics that, with a certain exposition and light, showed it silver:

But with an other lightning they almost appeared black:

And finally on 80 % of the screenshots of the movie, due to the fact that we saw the car only at nighttime, they appeared dark or black:

So the question is always the same. Do you want a "movie accurate" batmobile with the specific silver/metal/bronze rims very hard to reproduce or a "screen accurate" batmobile with dark rims as they appeared on screen.

Personnaly i went on the second option, and as HT included the features of boh films, i tried to made a sort of idealized interpretation of the 89/returns batmobile.

But if you can do a repaint of the noose and wheels with a great silver/dark metal i want to see pics!!! :clap
:wink1:

Thanks for the breakdown! I see what you mean about the rims having a slightly more bronze look to them. And I think I could probably mix together some different metallic paints to get a similar color, or maybe just airbrush it in layers.

It's not something that needs urgently fixing though, so for now I think I'll just enjoy my expensive new Batmobile the way it is before making any mods. :D
