Re: Batman : Arkham 3 (2013)

Your post confuses me a quite a bit.... You say Rocksteady are making a prequel, which would mean we're getting two prequels?

I've read all of what's available online so far and none of it confirms anything from Rocksteady. Just that their project is being kept under wraps. Was there more in the actual magazine than shown online?

From the Gamespot article in the first post.

"Separately, VG247 sources claim this new project is not in development at series creator Rocksteady Studios. That development house(he is referring to Rocksteady) is rumored to be working on a stylized prequel that will detail the Dark Knight's first encounter with the Joker. It is not expected until 2014 at the earliest. "

Gamespot article says specifically "Warner Bros. has confirmed that a third entry in the Batman Arkham series will launch in 2013".

SO to sum up again.

Article clearly says "New Game 2013" but not by Rocksteady.

Then they say, "But Rocksteady is working on another Batman game for 2014 release."

Re: Batman : Arkham 3 (2013)

The Rocksteady game will most likely be the sequel to Arkham City in 2014.... I can't wait for this game, I hope we get another statue or something for the Collector's Edition.

Re: Batman : Arkham 3 (2013)

Even though we can't fly the Batwing I'm still glad it's in and not just a cut scene....

Re: Batman : Arkham 3 (2013)

Understand, there is absolutely no official word from anywhere that Rocksteady is working on another Batman game at all. It is speculation based on Rocksteady about 2 years ago saying their next project would be "something differant" and alot of people believe they are in fact working on a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle game.

But an october 2013 Batman game which would be out only 2 months before 2014 and you really think they'd release another in 2014? I doubt it but we'll have to wait and see.

There is a strong possibility this is a test. They give the franchise to another company but don't entirely bastardise the material thats come before it by making it a prequel.

Now if this is a success, they can have this dev do a proper sequel for less money and give Rocksteady the boot.

Ahhhhhh I see! You're reading from the very first post in this thread. That's where the confusion has come from! In your earlier post you put:
There's 2 games here.

Another addition and a prequel.

The game for 2013 is not Rocksteady.
The game for 2014 which is the Prequel to AA is being developed by Rocksteady.

I thought you were reading some new information that came out yesterday with the reveal of the new game. You have seen the new reveal right? :lol

I think it's pretty much clear now that the information in that article you quoted wasn't entirely accurate. I highly doubt Rocksteady are working on a prequel aswell as WB Montreal. There hasn't been any official word as yet on what Rocksteady are doing. I'd love to assume they're working on a sequel to Arkham City, but there's nothing as yet to say 100% for sure that they are.

Re: Batman : Arkham 3 (2013)

Actually by the descriptions, it sounds like a modified Arkham City layout. Amusement Mile not being flooded yet suggest that. Tracking down Penguin too. Basically its Arkham City before it was walled off as a prison. I expect a lot of reuse in the layout because of that. So yeah its technically Gotham now, but the same part of Gotham we've played in before.

Actually, they've stated that it's going to be a new section of Gotham City aswell as 'Old Gotham' (what will become Arkham City), so it will basically be double the size of the last game. The Batwing will be utilised as a means of 'fast-travel' around the bigger sized map.

Dammit. I was hoping more on a true open world game. Well, if it's double the size I will take that, Arkham City was a lot of the same.

It was also mentioned there would be jamming towers that stop the Batwing from traveling into certain areas, meaning no fast travel, so hopefully the Batwing could be more of an option rather than a necessity. Guess we'll have to wait for more details to be sure though. It could mean that certain areas of the map aren't accessible without the Batwing and you can't advance to them without unblocking the signal perhaps? I guess one possibility could be that you can only travel from Old Gotham to New Gotham via the Batwing...

So am I correct to assume this game should be taking place sometime in the 1980's? Younger Bruce, Penguin not scarred, no Joker yet, which certainly means Harley won't be in this.

If I'm not mistaken the dedication plaque outside the main Arham City Gate read est. 199x with the last number chipped out.

I would assume that, Bruce has got to be in his 40's in the Arkham games. This is a fresh faced Batman, although he's probably been doing the job a couple years. I guess Batman Year Three-Five.

Hopefully the technology he uses is more archaic. It looks that way from his belt gadgets anyway.
