Story

- Takes place on Christmas Eve
- Years before the previous two games
- Mob boss Black Mask will give a fortune for Batman’s head
- Top assassins and supervillains from the DC Comics universe are out to get Batman
- Cops on the take from the mob join the manhunt as well
- Batman needs to outsmart his enemies, find out why Black Mask wants him dead, and prove to what good cops that he’s on their side

General

- Porting Arkham City to Wii U let the team get familiar with Unreal 3
- Doing a prequel lets the team carve a unique territory if Rockstar were to move the Arkham timeline ahead down the road
- Rocksteady’s project is tightly under wraps
- Younger Batman also “gives us the opportunity to refresh things a bit”
- Combat system still in place
- Will have “new layers, new opportunities, and new tactics”
- New enemy types
- Batman not as finely honed as in the previous games
- Won’t control the Batwing directly
- Batwing will figure into story sequences and acts as a universe-appropriate form of fast travel
- Has the traditional predator mode in which players swing from perch to perch, glide kick, string guys upside-down, etc.
- New remote claw that is like the grappler in Just Cause 2
- Batman targets two objects and fires out a claw
- This hooks into th efirst object and launches another claw and rope to the second object
- Can then pull the two objects together
- Use this to knoick enemies together, slam heavy objects into foes, string objects or people under a perch
- Can string up an explosive barrel under a perch, lure enemies with a sonic batarang, then cut the rope with a normal batarang, dropping the explosive on their heads

Game demo

- Takes place about an hour into the game
- Batman is perched above Jezebel plaza
- Black Mask’s assassins have stirred up the local thugs
- No towering walls keeping villains in check and many citizens call Arkham City home since there isn’t a prison
- Amusement Mile hasn’t been flooded
- Batman is looking to find out why Black Mask is trying to kill him
- Batman decides to go to the party to track down Penguin, who hears about everything

Looking good so far!!
Sounds like they're trying to change things up a little with the gameplay though by adding lots of extra elements such as the 'Most Wanted system' and the 'Dark Knight system'. Hope these new elements don't distract from everything that made the other games great.
Sounds like it's going to incorporate old Gotham from AC and a new section of 'new' Gotham aswell - plus the Batwing to help get you from one spot to another quicker. Nice!

I don't understand how both of these things can be true. Batman is basically untouchable in AA and AC because of the combat system. We'll see, I guess.

The more I read, the more ecstatic I become. Though, as far as most wanted missions go, mine is one with Man-Bat, just like at the beginning of On Leather Wings. He's flying through the city, and you trigger the mission by gliding toward him and grappling his leg, from there, it's a matter of avoiding obstacles while hanging onto the hook, making your way up the cord and onto his back, and then wrestling him to the ground long enough to administer an antidote.

I don't understand how both of these things can be true. Batman is basically untouchable in AA and AC because of the combat system. We'll see, I guess.

Maybe they mean that, stylistically, his style isn't as fluid. I doubt they'd try to mess up combat, so it's probably just aesthetic things like character animations, etc.

Same here - it's looking great so far! I noticed they mentioned a new grappling hook mechanism so there's always a possibility it was developed with a Man-Bat boss fight in mind....

They already mentioned the Batwing as a mode of transport so I'm guessing they would've mentioned the Batmobile too if that were the case. Since the Batwing is non-controllable I would asssume the Batmobile would be uncontrollable also were they to include it.

Looks pretty good so far. Nervous about the slight gameplay/story changes such as Batman not being as "honed" as before. Not sure whether that's a good thing or a bad thing. There's so many cool elements they can explore, I really hope they delve into what makes Batman who he is. Joker's origin would be a cool side-plot also.

Unless DC plans to have Iron Man do a special guest appearance, I doubt this is even a blip on HT's radar. I hope they prove me wrong, but I doubt it.

HT have already shown Teasers for Both Batman and Joker from Arkham City. But yeah they're waaayyyy to focused on Iron Man to actually release them.

Well all im saying is that this better be good. And batman looks kickass in this game. I don't like the long ears but more of the curved forward style.

HT have already shown Teasers for Both Batman and Joker from Arkham City. But yeah they're waaayyyy to focused on Iron Man to actually release them.

The teaser for Joker was in that kind of blurry group photo. And the only things we saw of that was his suit. The headsculpt wasn't painted. And all we have seen is Batman's gloves. I've seen like 30 variations of Iron Man in just this year.
