the fact that his only real save is Lois Lane.
the excessive destruction
and the fact that The Daily planet and all the buildings surrounding it are rebuilt in no time at all after the entire neighborhood was obliterated.
My wife wanted to watch the Man of Steel tonight on cable. Without me saying anything she noticed the dildo shaped pods, the stupidity of the tornado, at least 20 deaths all military, Lois Lane appearing everywhere, the fact that his only real save is Lois Lane, the excessive destruction, and the fact that The Daily planet and all the buildings surrounding it are rebuilt in no time at all after the entire neighborhood was obliterated. I just looked her and said, yeah.
You might need to watch it again
There was an alien invasion
They didn't show the city in the last scene, it was blurry and the final shots focus on Clark, as he arrives to his new job. If you want to criticize the ending, don't go for the obvious...destruction cliche Criticize the fact the Clark got a job working at the daily planet without any experience in journalism...that we know of
Did she notice this too in Avengers and AoU? Cause its present there too.

I think it says a lot that someone had to list all the good things a character like Superman did. It's a comic book movie. You can't take this stuff so seriously! Dark and gritty! It's Superman!
the fact that his only real save is Lois Lane
The fact that this debate has been going on so long necessitates too. Superman is a guy in a funny red sheet created during the end of the depression to pick up people's spirits. Not to be so dark and gritty that some find to be depressing. But like all things our entertainment mimics our culture. Where's the hope in that?
They already tried the "classic" old school Superman when they made Superman Returns, and not only did the film failed to connect with audiences , it also failed financially. People didn't like that one either, so I can't blame WB for doing something "darker" and with more action.
Superman Returns is far from old school. Show me a good Superman comic where his enemy is a rock?
