There's no denying that as far as the comicbook world goes, DC came up with 99% of the stuff Marvel later copied.

I think DC has better stories overall.

I agree, Marvel Now started out great, almost all series at the beginning were worth your time, but then it became SJW extravaganza, cancelling masterpiece runs like God of Thunder in favor of the female Thor which is still abysmal after 8 issues (and I really reeeeally tried to like it), and stuff like that, and now every Marvel book is tumblr tier ********, shallow dumb jokes and memes, I believe they call that "humor" now, although they still have some good stuff like Ms Marvel which ironically is tumblr tier stuff but it isn't ******** :lol but the rest, All I have to say is that I'm less and less interested in Marvel books and increasingly more interested in DC books now, and it was pretty even when it all started.

Looking back at the beginning of the new 52, it was also fantastic, but everybody got their panties in a bunch and started complaining about anything DC would release despite the fact that it was fantastic most of it, you name it, Batman, Detective Comics, Superman, Action Comics, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Justice League of America, Batgirl, Flash, Aquaman, all the rest of the series, new 52 has many runs under their wing that have been praised a lot, it's certainly way way better than the state the previous continuity was in before the Paradox, and it gets consistently better.

And now they're mixing the status quo a bit without pandering to angry SJWarriors who don't even read the comics, and pitching interesting ideas, but of course everybody complained too, they always do, I remember everybody was crying about Superman and his bloodied fists and just today I saw the 1st positive review of the new powerless Superman :lol gotta love DC "fans".

Where have you been?

99%? :cuckoo:

Again: comics are not a zero sum game.
The same writers, artists, and conceptualizers worked for both major publishers plus dozens of forgotten imprints.

When one is dealing with modern mythology, ideas get reused, recycled, and re-purposed constantly.

Such is the chicken vs. egg nature of myth.

Hollywood is a circular track of plagiarism and homage as well.

Yes, 99.99999999993%

I thought everybody in this place understood hyperbole, where have you been?

Again, DC came up with concepts first, doesn't matter if some artists worked for both, concepts and ideas were born in DC first, it's not that the same ideas were being passed around by people who previously worked for the competition, not everything was the Image revolution, or perhaps it was, at least when it comes to blatant "homage".

Buddy, you're clearly not around often, you can't be that sassy anymore, as much as I'd like throw some sass at you, that's not how things work around here now, just letting you know, there are people out there who like to report over dumb stuff like that, I'm not one of them.

Anyway, it's nice that you used Namor, pretty much the only character that my 99% doesn't cover, but yeah, that doesn't detract from anything I said.

I'd put together a list, but I'm gonna give you some credit and assume you do know DC has the majority of stuff Marvel later payed "homage" to and not the other way around. :wave

Report all you want, kid.

Be a snitch, if it helps you sleep at night.

You might want to drop the empty threats, though.

And throw your sass . . . and grow some brass. Life is brief.

:peace

I'd rep you for that rhyme if I could.

Heh it was literally just friendly advice cause I was infracted for some passive/aggressive fun of the sort recently (no pun intended), my bad.

Btw never reported anyone in my life, reporting is for pussies my friend. But, new coc.

I'll go grow some brass now, and a neckbeard..... And will buy a fedora too, so I can be sassy like Gully the Edgemaster.

Reps for Gaspar, because I've never seen anyone use "brass", "neckbeard", "fedora" and "edgemaster" in the same sentence. Especially edgemaster - no idea what that means, but it sounds hilarious :lol.

And that was one strange rap song by Gully Foyle. Someone needs to give Kanye West those lyrics.

I don't like Gully, but agree with his/her "chicken vs. egg" nature of such things.
We'll never know the whole truth.

But personally I could't care less because otherwise I wouldn't be able to enjoy Alan Moore's awesome work.
I'm interested in quality storytelling that makes sense, not in who thought of the flying Flame-man first.

Got a source for this (supposed) fact? Please show us where Leiber admits to this little tidbit. (Beyond the apocryphal golf game with Julius.)
I'm sure there are armies of lawyers looking for such a claim.

The truth is: there was too much cross-pollination to claim anything definitively.

What am I...writing the Stan Lee autobiography? :lol Stan Lee has said it in numerous occasions...it's nothing new. One came out a year earlier...

Here, According to Lee, writing in 1974, "Martin mentioned that he had noticed one of the titles published by National Comics seemed to be selling better than most. It was a book called The [sic] Justice League of America and it was composed of a team of superheroes. ... 'If the Justice League is selling', spoke he, 'why don't we put out a comic book that features a team of superheroes?' Lee, Stan (September 1974). Origins of Marvel Comics. Simon & Schuster/Fireside Books. ISBN 978-0-671-21863-8.

We're all entitled to our own opinions. We're not entitled to our own facts.
Truth be told: comic book publishers have been stealing/copying/bandwagoning whatever trends will sell the product since the industry's inception back in 1938.

:peace___

The only opinion I gave was that DC has better stories, which most people agree with anyway :lol The other example I gave was the "New 52", and again that's not an opinion, DC "rebooted" their main universe, then Marvel did their own version of it with Marvel Now...again, not an opinion, it's a fact. :wave

What's the argument going around now? Who "superhero'd" first? Most people agree, even critics and people in the business that in the 1960s DC was doing stories about Gods while Marvel was doing stories about people with powers who couldn't shed their ordinary lives for extraordinary ones. After that point they've been batting the same **** back and forth even now. Honestly it doesn't matter what happened on the page because the films are different thing altogether. DC had it's high time, making films that were in a vaccuum and never thought of the word crossover. Marvel copied that same template with their forays into the film world until Marvel unified and so now DC Unifies.

It doesn't really matter who does what first because the other will follow suit without question. What matters is who will do it better and this is the new DCCU's first real crack at it since they've shunned everything else that has come before including television.

BvS needs to be spectacular just so Marvel doesn't become complacent and over confident.

No superhero cbm in existence can touch TWS in the action department.

AOU comes close though.

I was going to include Superman's battle with Faora/Non, but **** that movie.

I liked to see superman going all out in MoS but the fights weren't good enough imo
