WB/DC had more time to develop and film their heroes than Marvel did. The commercial success of the first Superman film in 78 should have convinced them that fans were hungry for superheroes. The fact that they dropped the ball so badly cannot be blamed on Marvel.

Exactly! WS is one of the few gems in an otherwise rather generic series of blockbusters. WS has that little more "food for thought" that the other movies generally lack. Most of the others do their job very well. They entertain. But nothing more than that. they're easily forgotten and I dont think any will aver end up in my top ten!

AoU the most forgetable comic book movie of recent years- I saw it TWICE and most of it is so unmemorable..while Avengers I remembered most details.
Say what you want about TDKR but it had me pondering it for days after seeing it-it was rich with atmosphere and story

WB gave us a bad ass Batman in 89 while Marvel could only muster up Dolph as Punisher in Germany! :lol

just read this on shh ,might not be true but it throws a different light on the rumors of bats increased presence in the movie

A general desire to enhance Batman’s role in the film and the DCU is true, but those things arose over time during pre-production, rewrites, and the shooting itself. That everyone is excited by what they saw of this new Batman, and are eager to find ways to fully capitalize on what they assume will be widespread acclaim, isn’t surprising and doesn’t mean Batman is taking over the film while Superman is being pushed aside. Zack Snyder said (in response to the rumors) there is simply a lot of Batman in the movie because it’s necessary to reintroduce the new version, which isn’t the same as actually adding more Batman scenes to the film due to a studio desire for more Batman in the movie.

if they had to choose between a 2 hr 30 minute film with less Batman or a 2 hr 40 minute film with more Batman, the correct answer is “more Batman.”

In addition, I have heard rumor of Batman making some sort of appearance in another of the DC movies, probably Cyborg (and it could be Bruce Wayne rather than Batman, but I’ve not heard any details, and it’s just my personal best guess this is the other film he’ll wind up cameoing in).
And — go ahead and have a seat for a moment – I have heard a very softly whispered rumor (let me say that again, rumor) there has been some sort of talk of Batman possibly showing up in the Man of Steel sequel.
So the fact there may have been/may be talk of Batman making some sort of appearance in Man of Steel 2 does not mean it was a major topic, it was or is seriously under consideration, it happened recently (even though I only heard it fairly recently), or it will end up happening at all.
…But I personally think it will probably end up happening. At least, I think there’s a pretty good chance it will, by the time the studio gets Man of Steel 2 into development.
Plus, in these films, Metropolis and Gotham City are literally side-by-side, separated by a river. If any seriously heavy stuff is happening in Metropolis requiring Superman’s attention in a big way, there’s a pretty good chance Batman would at least drive across a bridge to ask, “Need a hand?” or Superman might take two minutes to fly across the river to ask Batman, “What do you think about this piece of evidence I found?” Heck, Superman flying around over Metropolis might just get bored and use his super-vision to see what Batman’s up to, and drop by to say “howdy” when he sees Batman brooding alone on a rooftop.
Regardless, there is also still a planned Man of Steel 2, and it was recently apparently the subject of discussions between the studio and director George Miller, so they seem to be thinking about it and until you hear otherwise from the studio there’s no need to assume they aren’t going to make it. As of now, it appears Superman is planned for at least three more films for sure in the next five years, and most likely four once contract negotiations are finished.

Whatever, this Batman takeover will at least make me boycott the film in theaters.

I'll download it and then buy the bluray, but since theater goers are the way they decide whether or not a movie is successful, at least, they won't count me in! Fed up of Batman everywhere!

gone gur...superman.
somebody shop superman in there.lolz

Say what you want about TDKR

It was an un-watchable piece of pretentious crap.

It was BINO: batman in name only.

It's an embarrassment to everyone involved in its creation.

It actually makes IM3 seem like a halfway decent superhero movie.

It should be shot in the head and dumped in a swamp.

This is true about TDKR.

Worst possible follow up to TDK.

The backlash against TDKR was incredibly overblown. It's a good movie with a couple of very exciting action sequences. However I can't help but wonder, three years later, if its greatest sin is that it's just that: A "good" two and a half hour movie with a "couple" of exciting action sequences. I don't hate it, I don't even dislike it, and I recognize that it even has some real poignancy in parts. But I just don't ever find myself wanting to watch it anymore. Certainly not from beginning to end.

In contrast to Batman Forever or Batman & Robin, which I find very easy to amuse myself with whenever I'm channel surfing, even 18-20 years later. And those movies suck.

I think Nolan's best "trilogy" by far was Memento/Insomnia/Batman Begins. Damn, what a line-up.

B&R is the tv show with a very high budget, I still to this day get lots of lol enjoyment out of it.

BF is just meh for me, some decent parts but overall really just meh.

TDKR Imax cinematography scenes were gorgeous, that's the only good thing about that movie for me, although I didn't hate the soundtrack like others did.

What was incredibly overblown about TDKR was the hype and fanboy adulation.

The Dork Knight Retires is a better flick than Man Of Steel, which is like saying that a bullet to the head is better than rectal electrocution.
