What do you expect Snyder to say? Marvel films made zillions and are better than DC films? He has to pan the competition and stir up some debate. Also he has to give Affleck's Batman more screen time. The majority of comic fans find Batman more interesting than Supes. And after Bale's Batman they have some explaining to do.

That he's proud of his movie and excited for it to be released.

Only if he wants to come off as a loser who is all bark and no bite. I don't hear the Russo Bros saying "Our movie about heroes fighting is going to be so much better than their movie about heroes fighting!" They're just quietly going about their business because they know that "panning the competition" doesn't amount to jack squat if your movie isn't going to deliver. And if it does deliver, no reason to say anything. Just release it and let audiences go nuts.

This is incorrect, have you even been reading the new 52 and DCYou? It's as Superman as Superman can get, other than a very few early issues of the Superman run (which got a lot better fast) all the Superman series have a better representation of Superman than anything since the 90's and overall very close to the early Superman runs.

Yes, I read it it... Out of Superman love,

... But I've been wondering why I do. I don't think I've liked a single issue since the reboot. As someone who grew up with the 70s Curt Swann and Chris Reeve Supes, the only think that makes this **** still Superman is the title on the cover.

So WB and DC gave up on the comic version and now this with the movie? By now, I'd rather they scrape it entirely, forget the Superman character and leave him in the limbo where they put it than defile it even more...:(

How are Marvel's good films? They make money, I'll grant you that, but except for a happy few, what I'd call them is entertaining! good? We certainly didn't watch the same movies!

Speaking of which, I still can't understand who's Guardians of The Galaxy could become such a hit. IMHO, one of the worst, cliched movie of those last few years...

Moments like these are all over all the series since the new 52, no, nobody has given up on Superman, no, Superman hasn't changed, he has been as in character as he's ever been since he was created, no exaggeration, of course you'll find the occasional brain fart that comes from having different writers, but nothing you wouldn't find in ANY age of comics.

That...actually makes me want to read Romita and Johns' Supes before Truth...and the Greg Pak Action run.:lol

I don't either. It was ok, but nothing I care to see again. My woman was bored watching it. :lol

Winter Soldier? That was awesome.

People give to much **** to JRJR but it's actually a nice and refreshing change of pace from most of the previous generic artists and his run has been very fun to read, I'd rather get several more issues from JRJR than getting another Jim Lee tbh.

Yeah you should, action comics has been consistently good throughout from Morrison to Pak.

As someone who thoroughly enjoyed Ant-Man (that movie was awesome). You could classify it as a "flavor of the week" type of comic book movie. Comic books are hot right now. What's a comic book that no one's made into a movie, yet, but that can still make some money? Ant-Man. Point is, we probably wouldn't be seeing an Ant-Man movie if comic books weren't hot right now, and that's exactly what Snyder's saying.

The best way I can describe it is that, right now, the customer wants a big, juicy Porterhouse, with all the fat, and bone, and gristle that entails, but they won't always want a Porterhouse, and, some day, they might decide that a Porterhouse is just too much for one sitting, and, instead, they'll opt for a lean Filet.

End of the day, Snyder's not pissing on Marvel or Ant-Man; he was just using it as an example. I'd even say that stuff like Suicide Squad is "flavor of the week," but he can't exactly say that about a film he's producing because...well, **** like this happens; stuff gets taken out of context and you wind up looking like a ****. Only, then, you wind up looking like a **** who bites the hand that feeds you.

I stopped reading Action when Morrison left. Not so much because I didn't like Pak, but just because I had a few too many books in my pull and I needed to thin the herd a bit, and, to be honest, I didn't think it'd be great. I like Pak, but I always thought he was sort of brought in to be a serviceable replacement.

As far as the actual Superman book goes, the first issue I bought was #42, because, while I'm not a Romita Jr. fan, I'd heard good things about Gene Yang's writing and I wanted to give it a shot. I'd never say Romita's Art is good; everyone looks like Mickey Rourke after he got his ****ing nose smashed, but it was, I'll use that word, again, "serviceable", and I did like what I read. Drop into the last comic you read thread, if you want to talk about Bizarro and all the other goodness that's going on. I just don't want this thread to get too off-topic.:lol

That issue might be one of my favorites, for reasons that I won't share so as not to spoil it, but that, if you know me, and you know the theme of that issue, you can probably guess.:lol I read #42 and #43 of Batman, and I'm loving it. #43 really was the metaphorical rug that "really ties the room together," in my eyes.

Exactly! WS is one of the few gems in an otherwise rather generic series of blockbusters. WS has that little more "food for thought" that the other movies generally lack. Most of the others do their job very well. They entertain. But nothing more than that. they're easily forgotten and I dont think any will aver end up in my top ten!

Because the russo Bros are yesmen employees of the big bad mouse.
They dont have anything to say since basically they have done **** on their movie (try to find the previz for their movie you Will see who actually did the best scenes).
Snyder has been groomed by Warner Bros since day one, he s a big mouth yes but he is his own producers too so he has more weight than Marvel enployees.

Yea wow WB is stupid. It's that simple. I'm sorry but the dc trinity was more well known then iron man, Thor and captain America . Flash was more well known then quicksilver. They had no faith in green lantern so they said **** that movie and superman they tried to make very dark and "realistic". Dc's characters are more well known and had more exposure than many of marvels but they were to stupid to see it. Dc had more cartoons and three of the most iconic heroes that are worldwide icons since the 30s. It's a damn shame this movie is being made now to catch up to marvel. A talking tree and a raccoon make it in the big screen before Wonder Woman and Martian manhunter? Ridiculous. I love marvel to death but the way superman, batman and Wonder Woman shaped comics should of been more than enough motivation for the studio to make 50 crossover titles.
