When Bruce and Clark are talking I noticed that the 'freaks who dress like clowns' line is Bruce basically comparing Superman to Joker. Perhaps he is so angry at Superman that he's visualising him as someone much worse

Dunno what to say, sounds natural to me. It's not that big of a jump, It makes no sense to me that he says the line twice in different occasions with 2 different monotone intensities.

I don't think he says the line twice either. I think he says the "If man won't kill god" line and then he says something else, and later in that same scene he says the "devil" part. They did the same thing with Bane in the TDKR trailers, when he says the, "Let the games begin" line during his fight with Batman but that wasn't the case in the film, and the "When Gotham is Ashes...you have my permission to die" line was altered in the trailer a little bit. Also in the TDK trailer when Joker says, "Where's Harvey Dent...I'll settle for his loved ones" but in the film those lines are not together.

Maybe, but I think you're reading too much into it, the voice change isn't that big, the line itself makes perfect sense and is perfectly delivered imo, it's not like "let the games begin" which can be very easily taken out of context, and they changed the "when Gotham is ashes because they changed the whole dub didn't they? Some lines were altered.

Yeah, Bane had a different sound in the original plane sequence...maybe the whole film, but people complained so they made his voice sound clearer and they used some alternate takes where his voice goes a bit higher.

But they're not really telling jokes like Tony Stark. Superman is asking him a question and Batman gives him a serious answer, it's only supposed to be funny to the audience...but not in the story. Also, we don't know that anyone died...because we haven't see the film yet :lol

I meant the writers are using comedy in a scene of such destruction in the same vein that they showed Clark and Lois kissing while buildings were falling all around them, but my comment wasn't clear at all! :lol I saw Gaspar's post about it being an abandoned site, so I'm so glad I was wrong!

I think it has even more meaning with Lex Luthor immediately stepping into the scene— acting like a clown—and Bruce knowing it's a facade. It adds to Bruce being more cynical, and I really like that!

The only thing abandoned was WB's confidence in Superman and the tone of their movie. :lol

When Luthor says that man will kill God does he mean Batman or is he referring to himself?

He said, "If man won't kill god" and I'm guessing he's talking about Batman, which is still a mystery why Luthor wants Batman to fight Superman...I hope they don't give that away in the next trailer.

But you're not wrong, the BVS fight takes place in the ghost town, but the "final battle" against DD (assuming it's the last battle) takes place in Metropolis near the Superman statue, so the "I thought she was with you" line takes place in the city...or..the memorial park in Metropolis.

Yes, Goyer.
