Eff the city. :lol

It always irritates me at the end scene when there is a nuclear bomb ticking down and ready to explode, but Batman hangs around to hear Cotillards last words and also get some personal time with Catwoman. I always thought it would be hilarious if in the middle of that scene they just cut to a wideshot of the bomb going off.

That's because Batman is always cool under pressure...besides, the bomb had a timer, so he knew he had time to get some...affection from the cat lady.

Now that everything is said and done and here we are in 2016 with a new Batman and a ton of new DC movies lined up it really seems all the more a waste that Batman didn't die in TDKR. It would have given some real weight to the trilogy instead of him being the one "quitter" out of all the various cinematic Batmen. He could have been the first "Han Solo."

He could have been the first "Han Solo."

No thanks :lol Rises needed a happy ending and so did Nolan's Bruce Wayne after all he went through. After a depressing TDK and two and a half hours of hopelessness in TDKR, seeing Bruce finally happy was worth it and satisfying. Batman "dying" goes against being a symbol and everlasting. Batman can't die.

[emoji122] Bravo for using "rises" and "happy ending" in the same sentence. Real smooth.

Lol. This movie is still about Batman vs Superman right? It's hard tell from the way this thread is going.

Any bets on when the ad will air during Super Bowl?

Actually it would literally fulfill every aspect of the "legend" if Bruce could die but Batman still remained. Everybody knows the movie would have been better if he died. It's been scientifically proven so go take your little TFA/TDKR thoughts back to the "unpopular opinion" thread. Shoo, shoo, go on, go!

Not really, because no one knows Bruce is Batman...so it makes no difference. Batman will remain no matter what happens to Bruce. Technically, as far as the people of Gotham are aware of, Batman did died in the explosion saving the city, hence the statue they made to honor him.

Everybody knows the movie would have been better if he died.

A predictable death didn't make TFA better...I doubt it would have made the final film of the TDK trilogy better, since a happy ending is usually more satisfying when ending a beloved trilogy, and there's a precedent to such endings (SW,Indy, BTTF..etc).

Considering TDKR was critically acclaimed and liked by the majority of the general audience, I see no reason to do such a thing. :)

The fact that it would have been unprecedented would have made it all the more poignant. As it is no one really "cares" that he lived "happily ever after." In fact I think it just made the entire trilogy easier to forget and move on from.

How is it unprecedented? Arnie died at the end of T2 and T3...also Neo and Trinity died at the end of the Matrix trilogy. There is nothing unprecedented about heroes dying in a film.

Yes, because Neo and Trinity dying made the Matrix trilogy much more memorable and better, right? :lol Ending the TDKT on such a down note would have been a mistake, especially for such a depressing trilogy. I like that Nolan kind of borrowed Frank Miller's ending by having Batman "dying" while keeping Bruce alive simultaneously...plus it keeps Batman returning as a possibility.

Why are we having this conversation? We really don't agree on anything. :lol I guess I could waste time explaining why a reprogrammed Terminator and Batman don't have a lot in common and so the endings would really have nothing to do with each other but...why? You'd just say "nuh uh." You're glad he lived. Got it. You think that was the right call. I disagree.

You could do that, but then I would remind you that regardless of that the T 800 is still the protagonist and a "hero" sacrificing himself. I would also remind you that it was you who said that Batman could have been "the first Han Solo", even though his death, his story, and the fact it didn't even happen at the end of a trilogy is in no way related to Batman either...but then you would say..."I disagree...because Kylo is cool and stuff" :lol Still, you can't disagree about Neo and Trinity.

I pretty sure we agree on... some things. :D

Oh yes a nuke going off makes for such a happy ending. :lol

Away from the city, so some fish died...and maybe future generation will have radiation poison and mutant babies, but damn it, Bruce is happy, he's getting some kitty love, the orphan kids got a new home, and Alfred is homeless but his weird little fantasy came true and he's happy. :yess:

Riddle me this: Who sends an entire police department underground?

Gordon didn't send the entire police. He sent every available cop at that moment. It was implied in the film that a lot of cops went into hiding once Bane took over the city....even John Blake was told,"Careful out there. They're hunting down cops like dogs" meaning there are more hiding, Foley was one of them.

Ok sorry, who sends 97.5% of their police department underground?

Answer: A director who had lost his passion on the subject matter, that's who.

Nolan broke those Imax cameras on purpose. :lol

He didn't lose passion
He was heartbroken
Also his plan for the third movie was to bring back joker.... When he couldn't he just pet the writers do whatever they wanted
