First off, almost half of that figure is the worldwide Marketing budget. The film's actual budget wasn't close to $400 million, and it only ran over (but not terribly) due to the schedule push dictated by WB.

That will only happen if it's a true bomb and makes less than, say $200 million domestically and $500mm worldwide. WB does not need to strike gold with this film, as they see it as an investment in the shared universe franchises. It really need only to "hold serve" and open the door for the future films. Anything more than that will be pure gravy.

Also, Warner is guaranteed to get back almost its entire $150-$200 marketing budget from promotional partnerships and tie-ins. And that's not even counting merchandise.

Long story short... This will have to be an historic bomb (and like JOHN CARTER bad, box office wise) for them to lose and for anything to really get derailed.

ok, fair enough. I was under the impression that the $400+ million did not include marketing.

Digital blood it is. I'm thinking about not wastn' time and money on theatrical experience, not a good sign...

Thanks for posting!

I'm just happy we're getting an extended edition. I also am very much looking forward to Zack Snyder's commentary. I don't watch special features for movies, but Man of Steel was one of the few besides the Lord of the Rings Extended versions and Spider-man 2.

R-rated version director's cut is coming :lol :rock

'Batman v Superman' director's cut has been rated R by the MPAA - Batman News

I just posted this on my personal FB earlier:

"So, the MPAA has given the Extended Cut of BATMAN v SUPERMAN (which will be released on DVD & Blu-ray late Summer, early Fall) an R-Rating. Uh oh...

So, there's your next topic to go off the deep end about, Internet Nerds.

This movie is like the gift that keeps on giving for you guys. There's like a new thing for you to poop on and rage about every day. LOL"

Marvel treats Extended Cuts as a dirty word, only allowed for non MCU crappy movies like FF4, DD and Punisher.

DC is fully embracing it by going the LOTR way.

I think it's actually more Zack than WB, and it will be up to the individual filmmakers from here. He likes doing Extended Cuts (not sure if Ayers or Jenkins plan to do the same). He actually wanted to do one for MOS, but it was shot down by Nolan (who had say at the time), who hates them. Not that there was a ton of extra material to work from with that film, mind you. What wound up in theaters was pretty close to the complete Goyer script. Not so with, BvS. There is at least 15-20 minutes of extra scenes and probably some longer shots that will be in the Extended Cut.

Wait, how's this a bad thing? :lol what am I missing?

I'm currently arguing with my friend who is insisting that this is a calculated move on WB's part to capitalize on Deadpool's buzz.:lol

Yeah, they surely held on production and shot the entire movie 1 month before release so they could see the reactions to Deadpool :lol

I'm with you, if you like it, more is good, right? Usually.
Yeah, Watchmen DC was pretty great.
