I like Cavill as Kal fine - the last moofy aside, but he's gving me a 'beefcake in a track suit' vibe more & more these days.

And as much as I like Cavill as a person (he seems like a very cool guy in real life) he just hasn't got the acting chops. His best scenes in MOS were when he was being natural, warm with his mother. I've seen him in big roles in 3 movies or so now and he just comes across as very wooden and a bit of a big plank in all of them.
I think MOS was probably his best role to date. Routh was far better in Superman Returns IMO.

Dean Cain was actually an awesome Clark Kent.

I love Cavill as Supes. He definitely looks the part, but I'll also agree that though not a terrible actor and apparently a very nice guy, Routh was better at it. But then again, Cavill has never really been given the opportunity to show his acting chops. So far, his acting palette is very... Kristen Stewart...

MoS was a crappy movie, but Cavill did ok for what he was given really.

He looks great but when I see him in action I don't feel anything.
Even bad actors like Schwarzenegger or Sorbo can pull me in purely because of their energy and charm.

So yeah, Cavill is truly wooden... in the worst possible way.

I think that's a good way of summarizing it. But for Superman, I think charm is more important than charisma. And Cavill has some of that. Not a lot, not as much as Routh or even Dean Cain, but some. Wonder Woman though, as the ambassador of her home world/plane of reality/whatever, she needs charisma.

I think it depends on the scene and what it calls for. In the interrogation scene, he showed charisma interacting with Adams then changed to be stern with the army peps. He is no Reeve but does a good enough job acting and looking the part. Snyder prolly isn't the best to be directing him. Maybe take some pointers from Affleck.
