Have to agree with pturtle on this one, Routh really changed his character as the movie progressed.

MOS, while Cavill is tough looking and looks cool as Superman, his character acted the same way from beginning to end.

Only time he changed a little was during his little talk with Lois in the interrogation room.

Yea that's true, the interrogation scene he showed some charisma, I'm hoping we see more of that from him in future Superman films. I also give him some extra point for doing a solid American accent.

I think it's been a long time since you've watched Superman Returns and you might need to revisit it. If you think his Clark (autocorrect kept putting the E) and his Superman were basically played the same then I don't know what to tell you.

I'm speaking about the way he performed the character throughout the movie, in Spiderman 1, you see Toby go from this shy nerdy character to a more confident outgoing person, it's not just the way it's written, Toby did a great job at showing that. In MOS, Cavill's acting didn't change throughout, it's the reason why his performance felt soulless, he was the same guy throughout even though his character went from letting his dad die (talking about a moron ) to saving people, but character wise he evolved, acting wise he was the same throughout the movie, which isn't really his fault but unfortunately it's looking like he's doing the same thing in BvS.

Also Cavill is being directed by Snyder, that right there is a huge problem, while Routh was being directed by a much better director.

There's not a single scene in Superman Returns where Routh shows he's even a decent actor. He's doing a impersonation of Reeve the entire time, a bad one at that. And so far you've said he was better because his Clark was "goofy." For real?

Routh was given a more difficult task in basically showing all the sides of Clark/Superman, basically the two public personas and the real one, if you don't think he did a good job then fair enough but that's definitely a harder role than the one Cavill got where he was basically the same guy the entire movie. Routh did a great job at making people think he couldn't be Superman because of how goofy he was, like Reeve did, how is that a bad thing?

Some good news, El Mayiame said today that he's hearing BvS is just as good as TDK. In all honesty this could be a year where every superhero film turns out good.
