Eh, IDK Jye. I'm seeing this Supes=Jesus thing everywhere, but if you connect the dots, it has a lot more to do with myth then religion.

For Example..

Krypto-spear is Excalibur
-Batman’s Holy Grail is his search of justice
-batman be killing people, just like Arthur he lost his sight on his purpose
-his knights of the round table (the justice league) helps him get back on track.
-the begining of the movie, the Wayne's are leaving a showing of 'Excalibur"
-the 1981 movie Excalibur features a protagonist wearing heavy duty "knights" armor. and is told through many "dream sequences"
-Krypto spear is impaled in a rock then tossed in water just like Excalibur.

There's a lot more too, I just don't feel like typing today. :lol

People might think this flick is a 50/50 split between supes and bats, but it's actually at heart a batman movie.

That's really good.

One thing that I haven't noticed any praise for is the fact that for the first time in live-action since the 1966 film Batman/Bruce has been presented without a love interest. I believe I saw mention of those wishing the Nolan trilogy hadn't gone that route and just "let him be Batman." I thought it was cool to see the most single purposed live-action Batman yet.

Yeah, he did bang some chick though. I liked how they never showed her face and just that shot of her passed out on the bed. :lol

A lot of that dialogue between Alfred and Bruce was depressing as hell. The stuff about not having kids, about getting old, things being too late, him wanting to die. Really gloomy stuff. I know Alfred preached to Bruce in the Burton and Nolan movies, but it was kinda sad seeing an Alfred that's pretty much given up on Wayne.

They probably didn't have time to cram a love story. They still had Bruce in a fancy party with WW, like in 89 Batman, Batman Returns, TDK, and TDKR. It was interesting seeing some random woman sleeping with him, when he wakes up from the nightmare....never seen that in a Batman film. It was like Snyder saying, yeah...he's Batman and he's traumatized and obsess , but he still has a p**** :lol

Did he? How the hell did I miss that? :lol

Gloomy and sad, but is that bad? I felt similar sympathy for Bruce that I had for Rocky when he told Creed that all the good things he would have in life were behind him. It's tough to find ways to make an audience sympathize with these larger than life icons and I thought in both cases that they earned it admirably.

After 2 decades, think even Alfred has had enough which makes sense, one of the very few aspects that did lol

It's just that, this Affleck Batman is never going to get to vacation to Italy and go cafe hopping.

Then how did it turn to gas in an instant?

I would surmise he mixed the fine Kryptonite into distilled water then packed it into the round with a powder agent to act as a carrier.

The movie is taking place right after the death of Robin and the Metropolis incident, Bruce and Alfred have been doing this for years and it's finally getting to them. I think the movie could have done a better job showing what mental state batman was in near the beginning.

That's one of the things I loved about the DCAU. There was Selina, and Talia, Zatanna, even, and, in Justice League, it felt like there was real potential for Bruce and Diana, even, and then you see Batman Beyond, and you see this broken down old man who has basically condemned himself to a lifetime of solitude in the name of the mission. I also love the fact that, gradually, you start to see that potential for anything outside of Batman sort of flake away. I don't want to say he's a happier Batman in TAS, but he kind of is. He cracks jokes, he has a social life, and, as it evolves, he does, too, to the point where, by the time Justice League rolls around, he's a lot grimmer, I think. Just in how seriously he takes it all, and then, again, you get to Beyond, and he's become a crotchety old hermit.

I still don't know if that would be the case here, as he and Diana had some pretty good chemistry, but it's a pretty cool dynamic, as far as the various interpretations of the character go.

I'm seeing people complaining about Africa and the Senate hearing and how none of it makes sense because Superman doesn't take the blame, but I got the distinct impression that that entire plot thread was more about Luthor further manipulating Bruce Wayne. Between the checks Wally was sending and the explosion, it seemed like only more collateral damage from the Battle of Metropolis to pin on Superman.

Then again, the Romans invented plumbing. So maybe the sink was symbolic after all.

Who the heck connects a movie to that boring Excalibur movie. :lol

And Arthur didn't float around like Jesus with visions of his holy ghost father.

Ok fine, the Excalibur connections are indeed cool. :lol

Holy crap I missed that girl twice! :slap

Great Rocky reference. :rock

Had to be a spear.

Jesus yo!

It make senses that it was a spear, It's fits in with all the other Christian symbolism in the film.

The spear resembles the Lance of Longinus, that pierced the side of Christ.

When BM lowered SM down to LL and WW. It mimics Christ's body being lowers down from the cross to Mary & Magdalene.

And in the final shot of that scène we see telephone poles off to the left that resemble the empty crosses at Calvary.

Good catch, but prepared to be hit over the head by Zach with this. :lol

And on his casket we see the dirt being moved to symbolize the stone being rolled away from Christ's tomb. And I watched this movie on Easter! :rock

The spear was one of the best parts of the movie. Think about it, in Bruce's mind this was going to be THE most important kill of not only his life but of the world as he knew it. It would also be the one that was most dependent on *nothing* going wrong. So no overcomplicated gadgets, no theatricality, nothing that could jam or misfire at the most inopportune time, in all of his brilliance he knew that his best shot was to make the kill as simple as a caveman skewering a boar. Awesome. :rock

I loved the juxtaposition of the most high-tech warrior imaginable branding a neanderthal's weapon.

A spear than can break... Or be thrown in a fountain. Lol
The spear was silly. The idea of adding it to the suit would have been smart because superman would have gotten sick from being near it.
