KINGDOM COME is beautiful, huge Alex Ross fan. I would leave it until after those 3 mentioned already though. everytime I look at Ross' work, I wish someone would make a movie in that style, with coloured Lycra and crazy suits. It's the perfect interpretation IMO.
On a somewhat related note are there any "classic" WW trades? I literally have no knowledge of her save Lynda Carter, Super Friends, and now BvS.
In my book (it´s not a big one, but nevertheless ) Kingdom Come is the best graphic novel ever written.
I think my Top 3 is:
Kingdom Come (Still need to get 'Absolute' somehow)
Justice
Death & Return Of Superman
Lookwise my fav 'hero' is Spawn, but storywise he doesn´t even REMOTELY come close to those 3.
Gonna see this this saturday, very stoked.
So, I'm confused. Was that the actual Man-Bat, like Kirk Langstrom Man-Bat, in Bruce's nightmare? I interpreted it, as just like the monster that was inside of him, almost.
I was going to feign ignorance and ask you, "who the hell is Captain Man", but then I realized its just an attempt to look cool.
The sad fact that is I am not only familiar with Henry Danger, but I'm familiar with Little Ponies, Pet Shop Pets and all manner of Disney Channel programming. The burden of Fatherhood, I think I deserve a medal, or at least a day off.
Excellent read!
This is exactly what I was debating with a friend of mine about the movie.
The movie has a much more deeper theme than a typical superhero movie, and that if you dont get it, then it falls flat to someone else's perspective.
I've seen many people say that Cavill's was wooden and appeared mopy.
That is a shortsighted way of looking at things.
Much like what MOS emphasized, Superman is a symbol of Hope.
But in a world that is dreary, He himself is struggling, and is wondering that what his good father tried to instill in him is just a myth.
One of the things I was surprised about this movie is Lois' role. I was assuming that her role wouldnt be big in this movie and she's just a filler to
inject in Superman's world, like having Alfred in Batman's.
But she actually turned out to be one of the main characters in the movie, and when Superman was losing hope...he found it in Lois.
I've seen some people post that they dont like the movie, cause they like Batman but when the two were about to fight, they didnt root for Batman.
That is actually a good proof that Snyder didnt hate Superman, and that when two are now starting their epic fight, you start to see that Batman is actually the villain here.
When Snyder and crew were brainstorming for the MOS sequel, someone brought up...why dont we have Batman as the villain?
Now, if this movie would have been shallow, it would have made Batman just straight up, as a Villain, that he's now literally...a bad guy and its now Batman v Superman...good guy vs bad guy.
Snyder didnt do that, what he made batman instead is a fallen hero. And his final transition, his fall from grace is when he finally Kills Superman...but when that time came, He eventually redeemed himself, found hope in the man who symbolizes that.
There was soo much more to this movie than a typical beat em up movie, superhero movie.
And even when the two were about to fight...something I was looking forward to and was expecting something like Thor and Hulk Fighting, but on a more grander scale, Snyder was actually able instill an unnerving feeling of seeing two heroes fight.
It was like seeing my parents fight. Instead of enjoying the fight...now I found myself saying...goddamit...Stop!!!
I can see why some people may not like the movie. Snyder's film isnt for everyone.
But I just think that some of the things that people are complaining, are just a shortsightedness way of looking at the big picture.
I'm tempted to ignore all future trailers and TV spots from here on out. It's the only way to be sure.
TFA theatrical trailers never showed us who was flying the Falcon on Jakku, never showed us a single moment inside Han's Freighter, never showed us any interior scenes in Starkiller Base. It didn't even reveal that Rey was going to be involved in the Finn/Kylo duel.
TDK never showed us one moment with regard to the ferries or any of the battle in the incomplete skyscraper (other than "Here..we..go..") nor did it show anything of the final showdown with Dent.
BvS should have been all about the supposed battle with Batman and Superman and nothing else. Shouldn't have shown the warehouse fight, WW in costume, Doomsday. They don't even have the excuse of "but they were building an entire universe off of this film so they had to show their hand to ensure people came" because Disney was banking their entire $4 *BILLION* investment on TFA doing well and *they* didn't reveal everything.
I'm so excited for Suicide Squad that I'm tempted to ignore all future trailers and TV spots from here on out. It's the only way to be sure.
Yup,
This was ASM2 level of marketing stupidity on the part of WB and the reveals actually mattered in this one!
YET, the movie still found a way to deliver the goods!
But can you imagine how even better the reveals would've been had we not watched those trailers!
Obviously Marvel is doing a straight up adaptation of The Infinity Gauntlet. Is there a definitve Darkseid story that everyone is assuming JL1 and 2 will follow? Something where he swarms the earth with those "parademon" things obviously? Oh and if there is a classic Darkseid invasion story please don't spoil how it gets resolved.
