You'll be happy to hear that Goyer is gone. He's been gone since the first shooting draft of BvS. JUSTICE LEAGUE has been scripted entirely by Terrio. Goyer wasn't even involved in the story meetings for that. It was Zack, Terrio and Affleck (and Geoff Johns a couple of times, I believe). If Goyer gets a credit at all on JL it'll be because of some contractual or legal thing.

Who was credited for the BvS script? I felt that was probably the main thing holding the movie back. I was extremely surprised how messy the plot was considering they for Terrio and held the movie back a year.

I still highly enjoyed it even with its flaws

Goyer wrote the first draft or two (based on a basic story idea by him and Zack). Then he left the project when Chris Terrio came in to handle rewrites and subsequent drafts. Both are credited.

The WW entrance was epic as it was but if we all didn't know it was coming it could have been more epic!
Yeah, you can imagine the frustration among Zack and his team. WB continually shoots down ideas (like a post-credits stingers) because "that's what Marvel does", then their own crack team in Marketing does what Marvel does and blows the shot of the heroes all together in a trailer. :slap

Does the marketing team have the final say over the director in regards to how a trailer is cut then?

Sometimes. It really depends on the relationship between the studios and the filmmakers. Some filmmakers do have the ability to control that (or at least have creative input). Others aren't involved at all. Usually WB allows Zack to cut all of the trailers. In fact, I think this is the only trailer for any of his movies since Dawn of The Dead that he didn't cut himself. Even the music sucked in that trailer, which is a clear sign. :lol

Great to know. I'm beginning to look at Goyer as a "George Lucas-concept" guy, he's great at conceiving an overarching story and dropping some plot points, but should then hand it off to a better writer to craft the movie. If you notice with The Dark Knight trilogy, Goyer is ONLY credited for writing 'Batman Begins' and then afterwards only gets Story credits in the follow-on sequels 'TDK' and 'TDKR' as Christopher Nolan and his brother Jonathan basically took over all the writing duties. The Batman scenes were probably among the best and I actually heard that Affleck and his boy Terrio had more creative control over those. Filming had started in October 2013 and Terrio was doing rewrites in December 2013..which means they already knew that things needed to be tightened up and it was already along a tight schedule. It would've been difficult to fix everything up otherwise and WB had already driven off the cliff with it...

He must have been super pissed off when he saw it! :lol

I was surprised that there was no direct establishing of that in the movie. I wonder if it will be in the extended cut.

It's fun imagining who they might cast for the rest of Batman's Rogue's Gallery. Hopefully Zack finds another role for Patrick Wilson. I'm an even bigger fan now after his work in the brilliant Fargo series.

We know he likes Carla Gugino, I wonder if we'll be seeing her in the DCCU soon.
Didn't IrishJedi say he played the voice of the President?

Even though I'm not the biggest fan of Snyder's Watchmen, I think it would be cool as hell to have Wilson as Ted Kord (that Night Owl was based off of). He could definitely pull it off.

Fun with Jimmy Olsen = dead

Fun backstory with Robin = dead

So much fun!
:rotfl

One thing I did like about the film and Batman here, though, was that he clearly had a well established background, and that this wasn't his first go around. Comic movies tend to go the other way--WE NEED TO DO THE ORIGIN STORY AGAIN, JUST IN CASE!!!--having a seasoned veteran as Bats worked well. And credit to Affleck for doing such a great job with it. He was 100% believable. Even though I'll ***** and moan about explicit killer Batman, I do see a lot of parallels between how he handled that role and how Bernthal handled Punisher. You could understand both being so sick of dealing with those scum that they didn't care anymore if they lived or died (well, in Punisher's case, caring that they actually do die).

I paid more attention to Jimmy Olsen the second time around. They never once call him by name. I assume his identity was revealed in MOS? I thought that they changed Jimmy to "Jenny" and didn't have him in the story at all.
It is confirmed in the credits only, and by Snyder himself.

Zack is still pretty pissed about the BvS trailer that spoiled the Trinity reveal and Doomsday. It's the only one he didn't cut himself. Someone in WB Marketing was getting all antsy about the lack of buzz and decided to throw that trailer out there. I don't think it had the desired effect. Those folks might be backlot tour guides now for all I know. :lol
I'm not gonna say anyone was fired or anything, but the team that put that trailer together will not be doing it for any more of these movies.
I'm not so sure that it hurt anything. And in fact, if you're going to say that Snyder was partially responsible for the movie's success, I think you could also argue that the marketing campaign, including those commercials, contributed to it. We don't have any evidence to the contrary. While for many of us the Force Awakens-type approach is more appealing (and sometimes effective), for folks who would typically go to see Transformers movies, a "more is more" kind of promotion probably only helps.

Obviously Marvel is doing a straight up adaptation of The Infinity Gauntlet. Is there a definitve Darkseid story that everyone is assuming JL1 and 2 will follow? Something where he swarms the earth with those "parademon" things obviously? Oh and if there is a classic Darkseid invasion story please don't spoil how it gets resolved.
The most recognizable one I'm aware of actually deals not with the Justice League or Supes (well, not Superman anyway) but the Legion of Super Heroes:

Amazon.com: The Legion of Super-Heroes: The Great Darkness Saga (9781401244163): Paul Levitz, Keith Giffen: Books

Of course, he was at the core of the New Gods stories by Kirby, and was a major player in Crisis on Infinite Earths, and was the first foe the JL faced in Nu-52 I think. But based on my comics knowledge (which runs through the '90s or so), the Great Darkness Saga is probably the one to check out.

WW was so badass you have to wonder (no pun intended) if she could have defeated DD by herself. If she has a magic blade that can cut through Kryptonian flesh and bone then it's conceivable that she could have decapitated him.
I thought about that, as well. She actually reminded me a bit of Thor. Seemed like nothing Doomsday did hurt her, and she was so fast and powerful that eventually she might have been able to kill him herself. Hell, maybe Superman could have done it, as well. But almost as soon as he appears, everyone seems to assume he's indestructible. He gets nuked about 30 seconds after he appears. And that's a function of his being shoehorned into the very end of a long movie, I'm sure (and probably a producer-driven decision to force the "Trinity" to work together and kill Supes to set up the next movie). But one other thing that was less than ideal about this movie.

Even the music sucked in that trailer, which is a clear sign. :lol
They used the Wonder Woman theme? I didn't even notice :monkey3

the trailers truly spoiled most of the movie. The worst part of it is that they didn't just spoil parts of scenes, but basically full scenes. Also getting so tired of hearing how this movie is no fun and superhero movies need to be fun. I guess its all opinion but the batmobile chase, warehouse scene, and superhero team-up seemed pretty "fun" to me. Not to mention the apocolypse nightmare. (also the score is so goofy and "fun") Regardless I think anything entertaining is fun, sure the Nolan movies are sooo serious but by taking a step back and looking at everything in a certain perspective it is extremely goofy and fun.

Well there was some fun action, and a few scenes here or there that were outrageous fun in the way that Fury Road was. But the general tone certainly wasn't one of joy. And that was by design.

Yeah, Patrick Wilson is the POTUS. That's his voice on the intercom when they nuke Supes and Doomsday.
A good choice even for that role, but he's a really good, enjoyable actor. So like Khev, I hope he gets another role at some point. Off the top of my head, I could see him as Maxwell Lord, Mento, Dr. Magnus, or Golden Age Mr. Terrific, Dr. Mid-Nite, or Hourman (in either a flashback, prequel, or time travelling appearance). None of those guys needs to be a 25 year old with rippling muscles.

My favorite Zack trailer is still the original WATCHMEN one:

Second would probably be the final MAN OF STEEL trailer:

Dude really knows how to cut clips along with appropriate music/sound FX.

The Saw franchise is the MOST FUN you'll have at the movies!
Saw movies are fun fun fuuuun for the whole family!!!!!!!!! Saw is a good birthday movie to watch with friends ( or to watch in new years eve)

I also love watching se7en and silence of the lambs as fun movies to just have fun.

So yeah, this could be fun that way lol.

Patrick Wilson as Dr. Magnus is an inspired idea! :rock Man, how awesome would it be to see the Metal Men and/or Doom Patrol in a live action film?

Totally agree. He can also stage an action scene like nobody's business (putting CG-related quibbles aside). In fact, if there is any criticism to be made there, it might be that some movie scenes seem only to exist to be put in the trailer! Best example probably being that one where Superman flies off in Man of Steel. But he's got a great visual style.

If he were a bit older, he could have been a terrific music video director, and I don't mean that as an insult.

Have him play both Magnus and Mento! They could use the old trick from the Back to the Future films so he is in scenes with himself :D

Yeah I can tell It wasnt exactly selling a joyful take on superheroes, but just now looking at my comic collection I don't think many of them are focused on joy either. Maybe that's because of the over abundance of batman books :rotfl but really even looking at the marvel side of things. I suppose that's up to my personal taste. Even after all these years I don't think any movie has captured the joy and comic-bookness of raimis spidermans. They are top of the top for me and after these countless "fun" mcu movies none of them come close to spidey.

Well, he did start as a Cinematographer and then Director of music videos and TV commercials.
