Exactly. He may be a nutjob but Gibson has made and starred in some fantastic films. Funny how some people disregard his entire career when it suits them.

Gibson is great but not PC anymore but that is all BS- tearing these folks down seems to be fashion

I don't care if he's PC or not--doesn't have anything to do with the quality of his films. As for Marvel and DC, both companies have made films that were loved and hated by fans and critics. IMO, DC has given plenty of reason for people to complain about their films so it's not like the hate is completely unwarranted. If anything, they should have expected a strong reaction (whether good or bad) because they are making films with the big guns. Superman and Batman are two of the biggest comic book characters ever. Fans are going to have certain expectations for those characters. If those expectations aren't met, then those fans will make their opinion heard. On the other hand, Marvel took C- and B-list characters and made them A-list characters with great casting, decent stories, and strong directors. Not to mention, doing so is much easier when general expectations for the characters are lower. Bottom line for me is that these companies have decades of stories and character development to pull from. If they choose to go their own way with the characters then they deserve the reaction they get.

The sports team mentality with comic movies is so tiresome. If you can't extoll your favorite without some hyperbolic dig at the competition you're just advertising your insecurity.

I honestly doubt Gibson has seen BvS or any other comicbook movie at all.

He's just another Iñárritu with disdain for CBMs, I can't blame him though, and BvS is the biggest punching bag right now.

Mel Gibson? Isn't he that idiot Best Director winner? What does he know? I mean it's not like every single cinematic battle featuring warriors charging toward each other on foot from FOTR to Civil War copied Braveheart or anything. Oh wait...

Captain America laughs at your Braveheart!

(insert laughing Cap gif)

All old school directors hate comic book movies- I get it, not from their generation and kind of art they think qualifies as a "movie". To me great entertainment nothing else. You can't compare Cap America to a film like Bonnie and Clyde- talk about worlds apart- I see it.
Spielberg just hopes they fade way- his films make just a percentage of a CBM now- he used to rule escapist cinema. BFG is a film with 30 year old sensiblities that isn't mass appeal now.

What about taking shots to people from "the other team"
Does that advertise their insecurity?

What about digs at " marvel fans" or "millenials" or
Stufg like that in general?
Cus that happens often here. Ive been called out or mocked for being a marvel drone in the past and im nothing close to being a marvel drone. I dont even own anything marvel.
Illl make jokes using marvel pics but they are just jokes.Ive never truly defended marvel like a sports team. But a bunch of guys defend dc that way lol.

The door swings both ways. If u cant read any critism about " your team" without getting triggered and writing personal insults or walls of text then thats just as insecure.

Just sayin :dunno

Guess it depends on the context. I can call some people DC fanboys and they get that I don't really give a **** and I can laugh at a good joke at the expense of a Marvel movie. But if I'm going to mention how much I like The First Avenger I don't need to add, "way better than gloomy Superman" to qualify it.

Good observations, as usual.

For me, having never read a single superhero comic in my entire life, Marvel and DC are the same thing. I don't root for one over the other, and I'll call something a turd if it looks that way to me. I don't have high expectations for these types of movies, just want to be entertained. I loved BB, TDK, GOTG, and the CA movies have all been very good, but what Snyder has done (Singer for YoNoSe ;)) makes the worst Marvel movie (Thor, Im looking at you) look like a Scorsese film.

As far as Gibson goes, I think he's complaining more about the wasteful spending on these types of films. He made Passion for $100 million (which is a huge amount) of his own money, imagine if he had to spend BVS money. I see where he's coming from on that, because honestly, I don't see where $250 million got spent on some of these movies. Some of these Studios are very fat and bloated and equate spending tons of money as the only way to make a lot.

Nice video thanks.
Really sad to see how the costume designer Mikael Wilkinson does not give credits to those who actually designed and build the bat and WW suits JOSÉ FERNANDEZ and his team at Iron head studios.
Fernandez was pretty pissed so he started a PR campaign to make it widely known.
The guy and his team are basically behind every superhero suits since theres has been cbm movies.

Cool stuff on their website https://ironheadstudio.com

Yeah, I remember readin'/seein' about that back in May.
Pretty frustrating thing because all the "credits" stuff should be part of the contract.

Yeah i dont get how it can happen.

About Gibson, who i love as a director and like as an actor, i think it has more to do with the money spend than the film itself.
I think that actually BVS take on the genre would actually appeal to him if he watched it.

People are chameleon's. They can change their views on a thread by thread basis. Go into any Marvel/DC thread and post a comment that agrees with the general view on the subject and you'll get instant back up. Go against it and you'll find yourself having to defend your opinion. It's hard to have a proper conversation in any Marvel/DC thread because everyone thinks that they're right and people who don't agree with them are wrong - usually followed by links to rotten tomatoes/critic reviews/daily box office numbers from both sides. It's toxic and everyone is so easy to wind up these days. :lol

I remember when Man of Steel first came out I could not understand the appeal many fans had for it. I went on a movie forum and asked the supporters what they liked about it. Immediately I nasty comments thrown at me and had my thoughts on the film removed from the board. I was not offensive or anything just wondered why everyone thought it was so good. In all of the attacks I received not one of the comments mentioned that the story was good.

And it's different from here how? ;)

Just Kidding...calm down

Talk about changes to the DCEU since restructuring swiped from shh boards as is usual for me :lol which was swiped from the wall street journal no less

Here's a quote from Geoff Johns in particular

Mistakenly in the past I think the studio has said, ‘Oh, DC films are gritty and dark and that’s what makes them different.’ That couldn’t be more wrong,” said Mr. Johns, who has written comic books featuring most of the company’s top superheroes. “It’s a hopeful and optimistic view of life. Even Batman has a glimmer of that in him. If he didn’t think he’d make tomorrow better, he’d stop.”

Geoff also confirms that Joe Manganiello is playing Deathstroke
