Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

I like that the title is honest in what to expect. It's good marketing to me!

Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

This title is almost a synopsis though...

This film better bring a lot of **** that's NOT in the title else it's *drumroll* super disappointing.

From your stream of posts since the title announcement I get the idea your pleased with it. Would this be a correct deduction or am I missing something?

Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

I should probably lighten up in regards to these films, but I think people should take a minute to analyze just what it is they're overanalyzing. You're watching a movie where men in long underwear punch each other, and "Dawn of Justice" is what gets you most fired up?:lol
I'm not fired up, I just think it's a lame, pretentious title. You can have an inherently silly concept and not make it appear stupider through the use of something like this.

And of course, in the "gritty and realistic" Snyder/Goyer conception, it would be absurd for the psychotic billionaire vigilante and omnipotent alien to wear underwear outside their pants or whatever.

Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

No, I'm not saying you are, Kara, but when you said...
Comic movies obviously liberally use cheesy and overblown titles and subtitles.
...it just got me thinking about how seriously these characters are taken nowadays by so many (myself included). When you detach yourself from it and look at it from an alien perspective, it's actually kind of hilarious.:lol

It really is isn't it? The "Batman v Superman" part is just lame in a "they didn't even try" kind of way and "Dawn of Justice" is just insanely pretentious. Putting them together in a title/subtitle pairing is even more bizarre. It'd be like if Mel Gibson called his movie "Jesus v Satan: The Passion of the Christ." What? Is this supposed to be epic or just mindless and silly? :lol

And I just picture the first trailer to be nothing but a montage of Superman and Batman looking up at epic sunrises, closing their eyes repeatedly as they bask in the symbolism as we the audience are supposed to transcend to a higher level of enlightenment. The first MOS teaser tried to do that, there's no WAY this one won't follow suit.

"And one day, when they are ready, they will join you in the sun." What does "in the sun" even mean? Heaven? Does Jor-El say that because that's where most innocent people end up on Superman's watch?

His name isn't Sam, it's karamazov80, or Kara for short. Don't be disrespectful bro.

:lol I'm disappointed with it but ultimately I couldn't care much. I think I understand how it came to be this way and I hope my sig's enough indication that I look forward to this film massively. Loved Man of Steel, love where Snyder and Goyer have taken this franchise.

I just hate double titles unless one is a series title. I think this also just looks kinda lame.

Oh and yeah if this film literally is just superman and batman being dicks a la half of avengers and then boom oh look we need a justice league, then yeah I will be disappointed. But honestly exactly because that is what the title sums up I expect more.

Jor-El says the exact same thing in Superman 78. "They can be a good people Kal-El, they truly wish to be. They only lack the light to show them the way." Snyder's Jor-El says the same thing. "In time you will help them achieve wonders. In time they will join you in the sun." Both are telling Kal that he is to be the inspiration humanity needs to reach it's potential. Both are metaphor, and neither is badly written. People just want to nit pick these movies apart.

Exactly what I was thinking, I really think its just some defensive tactic most members use to convince themselves the movie will suck so they don’t go into the movie with huge expectations, only to be let down.

Either way, the title, like Bane said, is great marketing, and really gets me excited, this is kind of a prologue in some ways to Justice League, establishing the universe and Batman is the right way to go. I know most wanted a MOS sequel, but its not like a majority of the Marvel Universe got more than one film before going into The Avengers.

Still a bit worried about some of the casting but I have a good feeling this is going to turn out at least good.

I have high expectations for the film, but those stem from the fact that I liked MOS. I want this to be awesome. Nothing they have done so far makes me pessimistic. Love the cast, love the title, LOVE the one costume we have seen so far.

pturtle have you already seen DOFP?

Or, they think the title is lame and are simply commenting how and why it's bad to them?

It's like this movie could have been called "Batman v Superman: Dog ****" and some of you guys would get up in arms about the people complaining about it. There is no ulterior motive here, people are merely sharing their thoughts on each new tidbit that gets released. They think it's a weak title, they can ***** about it. I'm not sure which side is worse, the people that are cynical and not buying into the project or the people that are disgustingly positive and look to defend every little criticism.

Thats the way it should be :lol

Not yet, still have about 10 hours left, the wait is killing me. As soon as I get out of work, I’m running home, picking up my X-Men shirt and heading straight to the theater.
