What does everybody mean by "tiny" I can't really follow the concept.

Me either. Not one bit. There's some kind of strange perception thing going on that I just can't figure out. Not much can be done about it. Like he said...he can only try and get use to whatever it is that he perceives as off.

As to the recon kit. I've got no beef with it as a whole. I use it on occasion to mix things up and it can be a great class to help the team with. I can't snipe for squat so I usually run with a universal weapon of some kind, but the kit is a beast. For whatever reason though, nubs LOVE it and always give the class a bad rep. I usually cringe when I see recon guys in my squad. They're just the most likely to suck. It's like a red flag hehe. Beats me.

Well the guns size are smaller in BF3 when compared to them in BC2

In BC2 they can take up almost half the screen, in BF3 only about 1/3 of the screen.

Couplethings I see here. One, the XM8 is a bigger gun than the Ak-74u or whatever that smg is. The other thing is that the gun isn't so much smaller in actual size...its simply positioned farther away from the screen to give you more viewing space. Just saying..it's a perception thing. The guns are not smaller. They're farther away. It's a good thing. Look at how much more of your surroundings you can see in that BF3 shot.

Seriously...is that difference really that big a deal? I'm curious as another member brought this up before.

I couldnt really find the same guns for comparison, but if you go from playing BC2 to BF3 like i did you can really see the difference, the BC2 guns take up the right hand side of the screen more than BF3 but are also bigger.

A good example is comparing the silencer from BF3 to BC2

To me one of the big differences from COD design was the guns size, i went from playing BC2 To buying Blops and the difference in size of the 1911 was huge, in BC2 i had these big commanding guns in my hand and in Blops i had a nickle finnish water gun.

Comparing BF3 to blops now there isn't as big a difference, BF3 are still bigger but only slightly.

I'll get used to it like i said, but it is a definite change for he worse as it looks to have been done to add more perioheral vision and to appeal to COD players too, both weren't needed changes.

People are too quick to pull the CoD card these days. Apparently ever single change Dice has made to BF has been to care to the CoD players. I just don't buy it and never will. I'm also a CoD player. The only thing I see to be closer to CoD is the smoothness of the controls and aiming. That's a good thing IMO.

Well, maybe you should stop looking for comparison shots LOL. It'll be a lot easier to adjust after you do that. You obviously have a distinct way of seeing these guns and it'll never get easier for you until you can step away from the side by sides. Personally, I played the crap out of Bc2 and didn't notice a bit of difference in the gun sizes until I started hearing you and that other guy talk about it.

If anything, those shots show how much screen those guns chewed up. No wonder they repositioned them. That old position gives you a big blind spot on the right side. But, since this is a 3D game in a 3D space, the guns are not smaller. Theyre just in perspective and appear smaller. It's just too bad that it bothers you so much.

:goodpost::exactly:

I don't think the guns are smaller, the new view just lets you see your player model more. When you jump outta buildings you can see your shoulders sometimes, and when you look at the ground you can see your feet.
The view of BC2 is more of the player's chest perspective, (halo, fallout) where in BF3 your actually almost looking through your players eye's. It's pretty cool addition in my book.

I played the hell outta BC2 before the beta and had no problem switching over. :dunno

I brought it up because i was fresh off of playing BC2 and the COD card was because of the difference between BC2 and Black ops not the war between BF3 and MW3.

Whether its gun size or location or perspective it is a difference that makes the Gameplay view more similar to COD than BC2.

I don't see the problem with the guns either.

And I have to agree with noobs being irresistibly drawn to the recon class. I can't count how many games I ended up with a squad of blue arrows where ALL of them but me were recon.

Seriously, gun size? It's not the size of the guns, it's perspective. From the BC2 cap you posted the guy must be holding his gun by the cheek. I seriously don't understand how having a better(more natural) perspective is anything worth mentioning, or even bringing up negatively...and makes it more like CoD?? Haha, seriously? The game is as far away from CoD as you can get, and like someone mentioned before the only thing that SORT OF makes it similar are the tighter controls, and I for one think that it's a HUGE improvement to the series.

Also, there aren't any huge guns in the game, really.

But it's not just about the gun, it's not just about the better "perspective" around the gun and it's not just about comparing it to COD.

It's the entire world, it all looks less realistic and more of a game vs the real size world of BC2.

Look at the Subway cars compared to the Train cars from BC2 in Arica Harbor for example.

The Subway cars are now tiny to match everything else that is tiny in BF3.

The Train cars in BC2 were huge which made it seem more realistic in my eyes, everything was more big in BC2, everything looked more real.

Now I stand next to a van in BF3 and it looks like a TOY van.

When you were crouched behind a concrete wall in BC2 and you were getting shot at, you really believed that you were behind a wall that was getting blown to bits!

I felt that the look and art design in BC2 set it apart from any other military shooter, now not anymore.

Just sucks what DICE went and did. :gah:

BF3 is hands down the biggest visual disappointment this year for me so far, but it doesn't mean I don't appreciate the actual gameplay mechanics of it, it just means i'm not happy with the direction DICE took with the look of the game, that's all.

I'm sure even with everything cranked up to ULTRA on the PC, the game world will still be smaller (not the map being smaller in miles) than BC2.

That's great if it doesn't bother you, that's great if I hate it.

It's just being stated that there is a visual difference, maybe it is for the better, I don't know.

What I do know is that for me the world looks more fake.

Nova, thanks for posting that pic :hi5:. What is he holding in that BF3 pic, a handgun :lol

The beta is over now, but i hope in the final retail version there are louder A.I voices.

Things like requesting Ammo and Med-Kits seems unresponsive (glitch?) and even if you did request the other play probably did not hear the request over the explosions and gunfire.

Things like the characters saying "thanks for the ammo", would be a better indication of recieiving it than just the ammo meter filling up. And "here's some ammo" as you drop it, lets team members know it's being dropped.

I can't recall now but was their map or world icons for Ammo ect.. On the battlefield?

I always found it hard to see or find kits dropped, things like this and reduced spotting makes the game seem less team oriented than it should be from my experience.

EDIT: Also the ability to remove dropping med-kits in favour of Grenade Launchers isn't very team-minded, i love GL's so having to choose between them is annoying.

wtf are you complaining so much for? you suck at these games anyway.

The scale of the game seems all 1:1 to me :dunno It's more realistic (the environments) compared to BC2's direction, which is more over the top and I don't wanna say cartoony, but that's the closest thing I could describe it as. Almost abstract realism. Even then though, it doesn't seem like its that big of an issue at all.

BF3 looks great, feels great and overall is gonna squash BC2 in every way for me.

BC2>BF3 so far.

BC2 is just a more fun game.

Hoping the real release is better but my expectations are low now.

The worst thing about the beta is the level it was on. Other then that, we haven't even played half the game yet. No vehicles= No battlefield. I think the game will live up to the hype I have for it. Playing the beta just made me more excited.

Hells yeah, man. That's what its all about right there. That looks awesome and I can't see how BC2 fans can complain about footage like that. People have judged this game WAY too early. I have a feeling all the folks coming from BC2 who're complaining about the beta will be very pleasantly surprised by the final game. I personally think this will be my favorite shooter of this generation.

Here's to hoping you're right :duff:

I agree 100% and am hoping they prove me wrong.
