Don't get a new TV just yet--3D capable TVs are coming in 2010 and it's a good bet that Avatar will be one of the first 3D Blu-ray titles so they can promote the heck out of it.

3D capable TV's are already out

But the main thing is, a Blu-Ray update will allow for 3D Blu-Ray movies, like you would see at the theater, but on your TV.

I still love Star Trek.....but it's crap compared to Avatar!!

Whew...what an experience!

Updating my best and worst:

BEST: AVATAR

WORST: YEAR ONE/ INGLORIOUS BASTERDS

So many of these ratings are going to be skewed because Avatar just came out. I remember as a teenager I walked out of ID4 saying "It's better than Star Wars!" That assessment didn't hold the test of time. :lol

I kind of agree with you on Basterds, after it ended i got that meh feeling. It had some great parts in the begining and kind of dulled out later on.

That movie really pisses me off with all that unnecessary dialogue garbage. It's shot awesomely...and the scenery and costumes where awesome too.....but all in all that movie was boring as hell.

EDIT: I am anticipating the Hot Toys figures tho...cuz like i said the costumes where awesome ....so i think the figures might have potential.

Those who say Inglourious Basterds was boring or that it was dull obviously don't appreciate or understand the excellent tension-building, character-developing dialogue.

What makes all the dialogue in IB great is that it always builds to a climax. It's so tense, like a a balloon being filled to its limits before bursting. Consider the first few chapters of the film. You get the sense that something terrible or awesome will happen at the end of the dialogue swordplay, and the satisfaction is greater because of it.

Unecessary? Hardly. What need does Inglourious Basterds have for exposition-laden dialogue? Every line uttered by a principle character in the film has a purpose, it's there for a reason. You get to know more about the characters without it being explained to you. Idiosyncracies, ticks, personality, it's all there.

Best film of 2009
Runner up: Inglourious Basterds

Worst: It's like being shown a list of fatal injuries and being asked which one hurts a bit more.

ok....yeah...I really needed to sit through a 30 minute (or more...wasn't really counting....but it felt like forever) dialogue in the bar scene just to see that the dude uses the wrong 3 fingers to order a drink.

Nice one Tarantino...now...can I have my 25 minutes back?...i would really appreciate it.

You know in real life, people don't just kill each other all the time right? They talk and walk around a little too. :lol

I thought the bar scene was genius, the tension built with that german ??????? sergeant, and watching Stiglitz get more and more irritated, and then their whole long planned out mission is instantly f'd becuase of a simple honest mistake on the behalf of one of their own, trusted men. They go from this happy game to what the hell just happened, whos alive who isnt?

I can understand finding it boring, but grouping it with Year One is damn harsh.

:lol:lol:lol YEAR ONE was garbage...i was peered pressured to watch it in the movies....i wanted to get up and leave, but i couldn't!!!!

I see why you would like that part then Deck....but i guess it's en acquired taste. I'm not a big Tarantino fan...I just thought maybe IB would give me something to like of his...but it failed to interest me.
I like Col. Landa tho...if it wasn't for him that movie would be 100% garbage IMO.

Ouch, I guess you didn't like Pulp Fiction then? If you didn't like that, you probably won't like most of his movies. But if you haven't seen it, give it a chance.

I'm not going to keep kicking you for not liking IB, Bamboota, you've got your preferences, but do me a favor and rewatch that bar scene but fast forward or skip the entire sequence starting from the moment the sargeant approaches the table to the inevitable climax. Then tell me if watching it that way is better or worse.

I thought Inglourious Basterds was great but I do get tired of Tarantinos dialogue sometimes. What the movie really needed was less worthless dialogue and more of the Jew Bear bashing Nazis heads in with a baseball bat! :rock

I hate the excessive dialogue. Probably why he's not one of my favs, but I have enjoyed past films of his. Just not to the same degree as you guys. It's almost as if his movies try too hard to impress, which in the end doesn't impress. Atleast, not for this viewer.

True Romance and Kill Bill are two of my favorite Tarantino movies.

What some call "Excessive Dialogue" I would call "REAL" acting and a real movie. The classics were are about dialogue and the character build-up too. It was the amazing dialogue that MADE IB a fantastic film. Sure we crave action and what not but this one was a real treat for me.

Just my 2 cents.

Exactly. It's called building tension. It's like watching Jaws without the music. You need the ????ing dialog.
