I'm not too fussed about Mike, we all know where he ends up at the end of BB. I'm more interested Kim, HHM and Chuck. We knew very little about Saul's life. Are Chuck and Kim still involved in his life when he becomes Saul Goodman? Did he drive them away with his increasing illegal activities? Are they even alive? I don't mind the background on Mike. We did get bits and pieces of it on BB also.

I feel like Saul in the end didn't have anyone. He would sleaze onto his assistant and he only other people he interacted with were his cronies Huell and the other guy. When he went into hiding, did he leave anyone behind that he cared about, or were there people he said goodbye to?

We're only getting ten episodes, for now. I don't think Mikes story deserves a whole 10%. Just my opinion.
Latest installment blew away last weeks, for me, as it got back to the story I'm watching for.

Well, your opinion is wrong.

And zero is a number.

:D

Mike's character is one of the best in the whole story, definitely deserves every bit of screen time
Yep. No doubt Vince Gilligan is very happy to hear the show is "back on-track". :slap

But this is a prequel. We need to see how both Saul and Mike got to where they were when Walt came into the picture. In regards to Chuck and Kim, I'm assuming their stories will be wrapped up before the end of this show (before Saul meets Walt). Unless they go with an episode or two of Saul reminiscing after becoming a Cinnabon manager, how are we gonna get those resolutions? And not too fussed about Mike? We know his resolution pretty much as well as we know Saul's. (And honestly, why bother watching a prequel with this attitude?) If anything, there's even less reason to care about Saul's relationships, since they are of no import in Breaking Bad.

Yep.

How do we know what's important to Saul on BB? All we saw was his involvement with Walt and Jesse and nothing about his own life.

So we're watching the story of Jimmy Mcgill years before the events of BrBa ever happened but we shouldn't care about his relationships because they are 'of no importance in Breaking Bad'? :slap

This is Sauls story, Not Breaking Bad.

The only purpose of this story is to lead in to Breaking Bad and fill the main story out more. If that wasn't the case, they never would've added Mike or a bum like Tuco.

And the 'shouldn't care' comment was in regards to Sidewinder's comment that he's not concerned with any development with Mike because we know Mike's fate, but to me that's kinda silly as we know Saul's just as well and Mike has the benefit of being integral to the story that is being fleshing out. Chuck and Kim are interesting backstory for Saul but since they play no role in BB, they have no future (unless we get flashbacks or Saul has a season running concurrently with BB).

This is heating up in here!!! I can see both sides here. I respect everyone's opinion. For me, the show feels like long run of Breaking Bad episodes - minus WW. And what I like about this show is that when I saw Episode One, I was waiting for Walt to show up. By Episode Two, I was thinking anytime now - we got a cameo coming. By episode three and four, I was thinking I don't really care....I want more Saul....now I want more Mike. Seeing BB, of course, helps the few appreciate the characters immensely. But I can already tell, if we NEVER get a Jesse, Walt, Gus, etc. cameo, I wouldn't really care, if things continue as they are. I was skeptical the character, Saul, could hold me interest, but he can.

I just know whatever Gillian tapped into for BB, he's tapped into it again with this show. This is my favorite show on TV right now. It's doing everything right.

We've already seen Saul post BrBa. Working a menial job, fearing for his life then going back to his lonely existence reminiscing about the good times.

This is simply the story of how Jimmy, a struggling Attorney, found success in senior citizen law only to become Saul, a skilled practitioner for the underbelly and guilty.
For me, BrBa is irrelevant to this show right now :D

You are NOT going to ruin this for me!! This is no simple story!!! For me, this is an emotionally-rich tale of how one man will rise to become an integral part of a story for the ages. This is what the Hobbit series was to the LOTR movies. Plain and simple.

I'm not wrong. I'm only right. And I'm perfect too. And everything I type is perfect. Even the typos, which *spoiler alert* aren't really typos because......I'm perfect and say or do no wrong.

I want to rename this thread - "Chap's Hangout: Better Call Saul Edition."

FWIW, from Wikipedia:

Set in 2002, Better Call Saul is about small-time lawyer James "Jimmy" McGill (Bob Odenkirk), six years before his appearance on Breaking Bad, though events during and after the original series are also explored.

The Sandpiper is actually the Gatewood Apartments(at least they used to be)located on Montgomery Blvd. I dated a girl that lived there. Ironically there is an apartment complex in Albuquerque called The Sandpiper

have a feeling that Saul's gonna get screwed over since his brothers working with him.....HHM will be wanting all that money I bet..or their cut I mean..

I'm thinking Sandpiper will try to settle and HHM will interfere. Jimmy will have chuck committed or something to take it all himself and screw the deal because Sandpiper is mainly afraid of Chuck. I don't see Jimmy taking down Hamlin in just two more episodes.

Jimmy must have some success to end up in the position he's in come BrBa.

Where he goes with Chuck from here is interesting.
While busy he totally forgot about his issues, will Jimmy realise Chucks present mental state is of benefit to him and helping him through it may hinder his career?

I'm loving that this series now has me looking forward to the next episode :D

I have a bad feeling Chuck bit off more than he could chew with the $20M figure. If he had blurted out $3M, they probably get a settlement without having to go to court.

Perhaps Chuck and Jimmy prevail in court but Sandpiper declares bankruptcy, hurting thousands of seniors and further pushing Jimmy towards a career as a dirty lawyer.

I could also see HHM using Chuck's involvement in the case and his current mental state against him, cutting off ties with him for good.

(And honestly, why bother watching a prequel with this attitude?)

Oh fo' sho'. . . I mean, why even bother watching the PT, we already know Vader ends up getting very badly burned.

Wait, maybe that's a bad example. . . .

Anyways, I like knowing more about all the characters. I, for one, was intrigued to know that Mike went "on the run" so to speak, straight to New Mexico to start a new life. I'm still very interested in knowing how Fring, Mike and Saul all get together. From what we learned in BrBa, it seemed like Mike and Fring were partners first, then Saul met Mike, so that's a bit of a wrinkle to that relationship.
