The thing with the fierce awakens and Spider-Man nwh is this.

Characters we haven’t seen in years brought back again and a start to a new sequel trilogy. A new beginning. The box office got lower and lower with each outing.

Nwh was all spidermen meeting on the big screen and fighting various iconic villains. Huge draw.

Deadpool and wolverine was a return to form for many iconic characters and a comic accurate wolverine who was going all out. Also mcu xmen

So it wasn’t all just a nostalgia fest. There was a reason why they made a billion
bro you got Ash!!!!

Elizabeth Shaw traveled beyond the galaxy to find a **** set for a bunch of aliens. Engineer "milkshakes". If you spend a long time around enough hard core STEM people, you realize anything deviant is entirely possible. :lol

I didn't even want to hate on this movie. I'm just pointing out the remember berries stuff.
I honestly just used force awakens as an example but didn't even realize how much they copied structurally

the white alien baby offspring is clearly Snoke

Well that was a disappointment. Movie had a few clever set pieces and jump scares, but I didn't care about any of the characters, the story takes too many ridiculous and far-fetched turns, and most of all it was just too freakin hard to follow at times.

There was no clear geography or sense of where these characters were within the station or on their ship, or how they were making it from one place to another, and by the end it became such a confusing mishmash of action and noise that I tuned out completely.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I would rank this one below Covenant (which actually worked a lot better for me on a recent rewatch). And maybe even below Resurrection (which at least had Sigourney and Winona in it to hold your attention).

If you're talking about Alien 3 then the extended cut on the most recent blu-ray is very good. I was such a diehard fan I even had the original ORIGINAL work print on VHS (with no music and just the on-set sound effects and dialogue) that I bought in some back alley back in the 90's, lol. There's some parts of the work print I prefer that I wish had made it to the latest cut but since the new cut is actually finished I'd say that's the best overall version of the movie.

Like others have said if you can let go of the fact that it screws up the end of ALIENS then I do find it to be a very well done film.
Agreed, although honestly I think their deaths fit well with the bleak nature of the Alien universe, so it's something that doesn't bother me as much anymore. And I kinda like the boldness of it, and then watching Ripley have to deal with that major loss.

As for the extended cut, I agree it improves things in some ways, but I think the theatrical still works perfectly well so I'm usually content just watching that one. And I think if it hadn't followed the action-packed Aliens that movie would have been appreciated a lot more than it was.
