As you may recall, the film ends with Terminator Marcus on an ersatz outside operating table, about to donate his heart to John Connor. We will leave for another day the idea of performing a heart transplant outside: maybe it was a lighting issue. Anyhoo, Marcus has learned more about being human and his decision to save Connor was a voluntary one. Connor's wife was the surgeon.

In the original, Marcus is being prepped for surgery when he sits up, grabs a gun from someone nearby and shoots dead: Connor's wife, Kyle Reese, Reese's ward Star who is about six years old, the woman who loves Marcus despite the fact that she knows he is a machine, Connor himself and all the Resistance high-ups gathered to assist in or watch the surgery. Our final view is of his Terminator eye glowing red. As Connor foresaw, he was always going to betray the humans, and thats what he did.

Letting that ending stand would have been worthy of Harlan Ellision, and would have taken many more cojones than the studio ever had.

Woah, what a downer but great ending that would have been.

I feel like I need to rewatch Terminator: Salvation again, I haven't seen it since the cinema. I only own The Terminator, Terminator 2 and Terminator 3 on Blu Ray.

If anyone wants to see an adult version of the Obi-Anakin mustafar duel just go watch The Northman climax.

One word.

EPIC.

Shame the rest of the movie couldn’t wasn’t as good.

wasn't there also a third ending where John Connor died from his injuries and Marcus took on the identity to keep the resistance going?

Seen an article saying they CGI'd testicles on the main actor. I hope that isn't part of the duel lol.

Yeah. It feels like the more Mando focuses on callbacks and classic characters, the weaker/ more hokey it feels. Season one of Mando is awesome. Season two is alright, but it feels a more like a launching pad for spinoffs rather than a solid, contained story. That BOBF episode about Mando training with the dark saber and getting exiled from the Mandalorians was great - it felt like season one Mando.

I’m hoping season three will focus on itself rather than laying the groundwork for more spinoffs. I’m sure it’s inevitable, but maybe it won’t be so prevalent.
The slippery slope of rehash and Filoni-ing zzzzzz. Saves me money in collectibles tho.

Unlike it seems 99.999% of fandom, am not salivating at the thought of Darth Vader and Obi-wan having another fight, either. IMO Vader hunting down remaining Jedi is one thing; and to me makes sense. Shoehorning in Vader being aware of Obi-Wan, who would have IMO doing his d@mnedest to stay off the grid - otherwise he would fail his last task, to protect Luke - just feels like milking it. Assuming that's what is planned.

Prometheus is actually a very good film with some very bad moments.

Well.... I've always felt it was like parts of at least 4 different movies slammed together, one of them being a prequel to Alien. Each movie might have been interesting in its own right... but the mishmash we got is far from satisfying.

Genisys however...
Prometheus is a well made, but very flawed film. It always seemed to me that they had too many ideas, wanted to distance it from Alien, whilst obstensively making the first third of O'Bannon's script, and ran out of time.
I don't mind Genysis, it's a Marvel's "What if" issue, and not to be taken at all seriously.

Prometheus feels like a 10 hour HBO limited run series that someone butchered and edited down to two hours.

I think there's a really good story trapped in there, but there are clear sections of the film that are completely disjointed from other major elements of the story. I hate to say this, because I always enjoy Noomi Rapace, even that bizarre dystopian ice skater movie and the 7 clones one, but her character was totally expendable.

Fassbender as David was really interesting. He was the highlight of the film. Theron and Guy Pearce as father and daughter could have been interesting foils as a surrogate family to David. Idris Elba could have hung around as the pilot. This film could have been a cast of four, just focusing on those characters and kept some major elements that Scott used, and it would have been a so much better film.

The benefit of the first Alien and Cameron's Aliens is there were only as many cast members as needed. Both Prometheus and Covenant had too many people you didn't know and didn't care about.

LFL just announced that Ewan McGregor will be doing photos and signing autographs at Celebration this year. If Hayden goes again that'll make for a pretty cool double photo op.

Oh, its a beautifully-shot film! No two ways about it. Its just what it does to the franchise that I mind, and the many logistical errors it makes, such as people taking off their helmets too soon - way too soon - and people getting lost in a pyramid that has already been thoroughly mapped by scanner drones. DO NOT PET ALIEN CREATURES, not even once. The stupid was just stacked way too high for my taste, and it kind of destroyed my respect for Ridley Scott, already hanging by a thread after Hannibal.

Genisys was like two Tinder users meeting up in a local bistro and arguing endlessly. I felt it was disrespectful in the extreme to the original film. If I want to see a meet-cute, I dont come to the Terminator franchise for that. Not here to see nonsensical arguments between Kyle and Sarah. So many times I end up thinking "who greenlit this?!!!" about a given film.

I enjoyed Genisys, but it is a complete detachment from the tone of the original two films.

The worst moment in the film IMO was when "Kyle Reese" said "And I volunteered for this??" like he was John McClane running around cracking jokes at an airport.

Still better than Dr Manhattan blue shlong lol
