From memory, the only real difference was a slightly different coloured 'crackle' effect on the grip of the Sonic.

I'm still waiting for Troughton and Baker the second, personally (probably be quite a wait, too...) but I'd certainly more than welcome a Pertwee, too. Mind you, I'll always happily take any Doctor that hasn't yet been made, as long as they do them justice, so I guess I'm easily pleased in that regard. :)

Does feel past due for another classic Doctor at this point, though. Hopefully we'll see one this year.

Me too!! My most wanted 1/6 scale Who figure! Still I'll take whoever they do as well!! :) A full line up would be awesome.

#DoctorWho 9th Doctor, pending approval.

I thought the raw, unpainted sculpt looked really good, but I struggle to see Eccleston in that painted version much at all.

Maybe its the neutral expression demon striking again (I think a more open-eyes expression would have helped), or just bad pics warping matters slightly (certainly wouldn't be the first time that happened), but I can't help being a touch underwhelmed on first reaction, to be honest.

Mind you, I've had similar reactions before, only for things to look much better in later images (and eventually in hand) so I'm hoping that's all this is this time around as well. Right now its hard not to feel a touch disappointed by this reveal, though.

I'm not impressed with it...rather disappointing :/

But as you said Parrot, it's not the first time they've released dodgy pics. Here's hoping it looks better when it goes up for PO.

It's a heck of a lot better than I could do, but I definitely would be hard pressed to say that's Eccleston if you showed me without prior knowledge. He looks more like a sculpt you would get with a military figure that just goes for generic soldier #10.

That's their worst sculpt since Amy.

What is it with this company, it's three steps forward then two steps back. Over on Jon's Facebook group (which has recently fallen into the gutter again after a good couple of months) everyone is saying how fantastic it is... and posting mock 'hater' messages, as if people who criticise this are choosing to do so for the sake of it. But there's no way that looks like Eccleston, and unlike other sculpts we have six good photos of this showing exactly how it looks from a variety of angles.

I'm the biggest BC fanboy there is, not to mention a great customer of theirs, but I'm not buying this if it doesn't look more like Nine, and I was ready to buy two of them.

Now let's wait for people elsewhere to say we're 'whiners'.

Hmmm, not blown away by the sculpt at all tbh!! I can tell who its supposed to be (just), but it's definitely no where near as good as other recent Who efforts based on that above photo. :(

Bit disapppointed to be honest - I had high hopes for this figure, but do feel a bit under-whelmed now I've seen it. :gah: :(

Still, I will try to be positive, BCS are notorious for releasing pics that don't always do their figures justice - I remember I wasn't keen on the last 11 figure based on the very first pic they showed - but that turned out alright and I love that figure. Hopefully we'll see some better pics soon.

Well, let's hope so. Or if not, then let's hope they redo the sculpt. It's not like I want to miss out on a BCS Nine - I'm bothering to comment here because I want to buy a couple.

That's the real problem, isn't it? Heaping praise upon mediocrity pushes no one to their creative best, and in fact only encourages more mediocrity. Because why put all the the extra time and effort into making something great if people are just as willing to accept and pay for something that's not up to that standard?

That is why honest constructive criticism is so important. Nobody excels in a vacuum.

:exactly: Me too. Especially as this will probably be the only figure of Nine we'll get.

:exactly: :goodpost: Completely agree!

Don't confuse the sculpt with the paint app folks. The sculpt is spot on. I agree that the paint app looks kind of chalky though. I am sure the production app will be fine.

When has the production paint ever been better than the prototype? That has never happened.

So pending approval and prototype comes to mind. And the people who keep comparing it to Amy sculpt is not the same company that is doing the sculpting.
