I have been looking forward to the reveal for some time.
After the excellent Capaldi, New Smiths and Baker's, I was expecting to be blown away. Im not.
The sculpt appears to be there, under a paint job that looks like caked on make up. That said, it's all lighting, and I know that a number of shots I took of the First Doctor made the sculpt look terrible.
I am pretty sure that the paint maps on the production model will be less extensive, simplifying the overall appearance and ultimately enhancing the actual product. Still looking forward to a complete reveal, and lets face it - I will be buying this figure ;-)

Thanks for the kind words, duck and bilbo.

I think this has been a really positive experience for the BCS fan community. The criticism has been measured rather than abusive; people who love the figure are now saying they love it without attacking its critics as whiners. Gregg was spot on to say they welcome constructive criticism, its meant we've had a constructive exchange of views rather than a ****storm. I realise it must be quite harrowing to read criticism of your work on the internet, but it's all been from people who love the brand and just want the product to be better.

And just as one side has accepted that criticism can be valid, people like me who were saying 'it's off' have been rightly challenged to back up our comments with some solid detail in order to make our points valid.

I really look forward to seeing any tweaks they make to the sculpt before its tooled.

I have to laugh though at the idea of me offering someone a critique of their sculpt - the other day I made a dog out of play-doh for my kids, and one of them thought it was a giraffe. :)

Anyway, :duff

They put this on Facebook. Thoughts?

We've all seen it. It's a better picture but the sculpt still needs some major tweaking.
Well I hadn't seen it, so I thought it only right to post it, as I am sure others haven't either. Perhaps there are individuals who don't have a Facebook account.

I suspect that this is a sculpt that was done by hand, where BCS has been excelling with scanning tech. I highly doubt Eccleston would consent to a scan as he seems to distance himself from the show.

If I recall right, Greggo mentioned on FB that it was a 3-D sculpt... Doesn't meant it was done from a scan of Eccleston though. In fact the first preview we saw was the digital sculpt.

Well, not to be rude or anything, but I think the point was that given that the same image shows up within this very thread five times in the two pages prior to your own post (three times in cropped closeup, and twice in its original form), anyone who hadn't seen it by this point clearly wasn't paying very much attention... :p

I see that now; I use tapatalk so if I don't read the newest posts completely, next time I revisit a page it puts me at the end. I missed the lapse of posts. Admittedly my mistake! That being said, snarky response gets a snarky answer every time ;)

I really love it. I've been sort of holding my breath wondering what the jacket would be like but it looks pretty much perfect to my eyes as far as fit and weathering. SO HAPPY. Also, on the shelf... seeing that whole guy... he's unmistakably the 9th Doctor.

Love love love it!!!

The jacket weathering looks great.

(do the sleeves look a little short to anyone?)

Hmmmm..... I see what you're saying, but I put that more down to the pose. The sleeves seem to fall on the hands at the right place, and are bunched up a bit because it's posed.

Considering how hard it is to imitate leather in 1/6, that is really impressive. It was the one thing I was worried about with the figure and they have done a nice job.

The sleeves do look a little short, and I hope they lengthen it, but that's an easy fix.
