What scares me is that I'm consulting at Bank of America right now. They just bought LaSalle (largest banking chain in the Midwest) and the failing Countrywide Home Loans. So if things really go south my current employment position is definitely not safe. :horror

Time to start squirelling away a little more of my paychecks. :monkey2

Wow. No raise in years would equal me finding better employment.

yes, but she pays my health/dental insurance, contributes to my 401K, and gives me year end bonuses - there are have been so many lay-offs in this area - if I were to get another job, chances are if they started to lay people off I would be one of the first ones to go. My job is secure, that I know, so I've got to hold onto for now.

I don't care.... I just get sick of hearing your insane theories. Take it somewhere else. If you believe that, fine... it's your right to do so. But stop trying to shove it down my throat.

Keep it civil kids.

Who's more foolish? The fool, or the fool that battles the fool?

I need to be completely debt free and work better at saying no to things I don't need and really prioritizing my spending money with the few comforts that will mean the most.

I think we all can use some help in that area. I went to cancel a few pre-orders this morning, but they weren't with SS and I'll be hit with a 10% restocking fee, so not sure if I'm going to do it now.

ok..then believe in your toilet paper money, believe in our corrupted system,I dont care...jibberish huh? I guess peter schiff is a jibber jabber, I guess Ron Paul doesnt know what he's talking about...you rather believe in your puppet politicians I am sure...afterall the government knows whats best for you and loves you as they poison you with their food

Go on the kitco precious metals board. You'll find a receptive audience.

There's been no regulation on this nonsense for a long time and its time the Government pulls its head out and does something. Based on what I'd like to see I think there's a side that can at least get something done and its aint McCain side. :) They've been in power long enough to get this stuff fixed and have done nothing. So while it may not be all their fault they've been in power with the exception of the last year so they get the blame.

hmmmm....10% restocking fee. Let's see, shall I pay $300 (or $150 or whatever) for something I really don't need or $30 (or $15 or whatever) to get out from under until I'm more comfortable financially? :monkey3

I heard this last night and wondered what effect it'd have on my banking since I'm with WaMu. I know they say none but I have my doubts....there are a lot of factors to the reason we are where we are that cross cultural lines and party lines but the debate on how we got into the ^^^^hole is about as useful and being in the ^^^^hole. I'm more interested in the plans to get us out and if WaMu is the unique situation or the first in a line of other banks that will fall.

I think my brother uses that bank.

I'm kinda surprised things haven't actually affected the general public yet. I mean, we're all worried, but that's it for now. I should be fine though, my parents are fine since they paid off the house and do well taking care of debt.

I've got student loans I'll have to pay off once I get out of college, but I'm going to be going into the video game industry which is just making more and more money each year so I don't think I'll have a problem.

Wells Fargo is in trouble as well as other banks... if something isn't done soon, there will be more to fail.

Actually I thought Wells Fargo was one of the strong ones?

There's a list somewhere of over 100 banks that are close to failing. Mine is First Federal and it's on the list. But I can't remember where I saw it.
