I have a good sense of humor and I'll laugh but I guess we are all perceived this way over the pond

Oh, I'm not saying he didn't have it coming for him... in no way I sympathize with him,
but it's weird how people believe somehow this is a "victory" is what baffles me... just sayin'
This is what we in the business call an "information operations victory", or IO victory for short.
Osama bin Laden is a symbol. Given the nature of his kind of operations, terrorists, even those "officially" under the al-Qaeda franchise, are only very loosely affiliated with him. He's more of a figurehead than anything else, especially since he's gone into hiding and AQ's actual operational capability has been in question for some time now.
What this does is, in effect, pump up the good guys and serve as one big downer for the bad guys. Sure, there will still be terrorists and insurgents - but don't think this news won't affect them, or even more importantly, those impressionable youth who could potentially become them. Don't think this doesn't affect people like Mullah Omar, also hiding out in Pakistan, undoubtedly thinking "if they can get Osama..."
This is STILL a war for the "hearts and minds", so yes, this is a BIG victory for all of us who are participating in it. Does it mean the war is over? No - there's still a lot of cleaning up to do. But this is the one man - more than any other - who was responsible for starting it. Don't underestimate the significance of his death.

Other than my personal belief that all religion is basically hogwash, I have no problem with religious leaders who follow a "live and let live" approach.

I consider this a victory like knocking Tom Brady out of the game and having him be replaced by Jamarcus Russell. Yes they will have some good players but they are in no way the same threat as before. Bin Laden was HUGE to Al-Quida in terms of bringing people in and motivating them.

.I love Americans, I have an Aunt and 6 American Cousins, plus an EX from the States. And I still have fond memories of her along with the bad ones

I can guarantee, all you've seen is exactly what we've seen regarding this issue - the news sources, and Obama's speech.
So what are you exactly basing this opinion of yours on?
This would never have been released to the media without evidence to back it up and available to objective, third-party observers to scrutinize and confirm - the political ramifications of having a "faked" death would be enormous.
Maybe, but from my personal experience, a lot of them are too twisted and dangerous to be left alone. Something certainly needs to be done to stop their extremist views and public rants, especially in places like Pakistan where the Mullahs have become too powerful and influential.

You don't put this out there unless you have NO DOUBT you've killed THE Osama Bin Laden. Because if he releases another mix tape or whatever he does, the embarrasement for this administration would be irreparable.
