Just because you don't know of something until you're an adult doesn't mean it doesn't appeal to your inner child. As a matter of fact companies specifically market to appeal to the inner childs of the adult generation because we are the ones with money.

Yes I know, like encore transformers are aimed at adults because these are the toys we grew up with and buy them for nostalgia reasons, well at least I did.

My problem is, that toys seem to be most in thing to buy, because hot toys have the best paint jobs and very good sculptors.

It is only the minority like me that do not care so much for hot toys because of all those stupid unnecessary accessories like 10 hands and that stupid megaphone etc for the hot toys 89 Joker. That is stuff I would want if I was 10, my inner child can only take so much. I understand the point behind all those parts is to give you so many poses but I for one could not be bothered to keep switching out hands from time and time again. Plus those things are fragile, so if you keep doing it you will eventually break them.

I liked it how in the early sideshow days there were less accessories and only one set of hands, before hot toys took over.

At least when you buy 1/6 figures from Rainman or Serang you get accessories that are necessary.Those artist do not go overboard, they give you about 2 sets of hands at the most.

What do you think of cinemaquette? Those statues to me are real art but the likeness on the human characters are so poor that I bought the Reeve superman by hot toys because it has better likeness. I wanted the one from cinemaquette but I hated the head.

So what I mean is I wish we could get better quality PFs that are up to hot toys standards as far as paint goes.

And it really puzzles me why Hot Toys can't be considered a work of art even though they are made of plastic and not resin? Considering these are mass produced!

I agree that hot toys are a work of art to some degree, their head sculpts and paint jobs are amazing but because they are made out of plastic or PVC they look less life like than expensive material like resin. Resin is material that true artist use to make sculptures. So what I am saying is they are more like toys because they look less life like.

That being said, I have seen some terrible resin sculpts and better hot toys sculpts. So in that sense hot toys were more like art or aesthetically pleasing than those horrible resin sculpts.

However, I own the Friday the 13th Part 3 Jason PF and since it is heavier than hot toys dolls due to it being made out of resin, makes you feel like you own a true piece of art and not a toy IMO.

Nevertheless, hot toys look better than the current PFs right now because of the paint jobs. So one could argue the fact that because they are better looking means they are more like a work of art than PFs because they are more aesthetically pleasing.

Actually Neo, I consider the hot toys upcoming 89 Batmobile a work of art and no toy due to the specs. It really is like the real bat mobile shrunken down, it is so heavy like a real car would be if it was shrunken down to that size.

You mention weight alot as a basis for art.some of the statues i have are as light as the Hot Toys I have.

Beauty and art in the eye of the beholder.personally i think both mediums are a foam of art.

Are those statues made out resin and are they 1/4 scale? I guess the weight isn't really a form of art but more like it doesn't feel like a cheap plastic toy that weighs nothing. I know what you mean though, just because it is heavy doesn't classify it as art.

Hey Neo,

Your PM is full so I will have to reply to your PM here.

I would totally agree with almost everything you said in your pm except right now I am really let down by hot toys. Both the Christopher Reeve Superman and Joker 89 have horrible quality control (QC) issues.

Nevertheless, I ordered them so I will wait and see if mine have any problems. So up until recently hot toys had the best QC control, I had never heard of anyone that had a problem with their figures, at least I didn't.

Thus, ironically, now getting a good figure from hot toys is a hit or a miss just like sideshow.

Did you get these two figures? Let me know if want to know about the QC issues as I have made a list.

ditto, especially considering bw is not one of the main characters. All those people waiting for another avenger version of bw pf will be disappointed, it will be years if ever while missing out the ex of this version.

Don't worry. Once she begins shipping, she will be back in stock. They have a reserve held aside for exchanges. If there aren't as many exchanges that happen, then the reserves are let loose. So it will happen.

sorry but that's just not true. Sideshow NEVER take replacement parts from new stock or do exchanges for a new statue. They have a new stock all boxed etc.. for new orders only, and a separate stock (just different parts) for replacements. They will never ship you another new statue as a replacement.

This is directly from their customer service, for one of my statue only way I could get a new one (because the replacement stock was colored differently) was to return the existing statue for a full refund, then get the cs to place another new order for me. Even he acknowledged it's rather stupid as oppose to just ship me a new one, but said that's the only way to do it within their process.

but i expect some cancellations given all the new statues coming out, so you will probably get converted. I know i was surprised when my cap pf ex converted... (after i already ordered a reg version )
