Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

I hope to see the final version of all 4 GB in SDCC, with Ecto 1 prototype..

Surely that is their thinking. However these are pretty much sold out everywhere, unless they plan to reopen a second run order going from hype of SDCC.

That's what I'd be doing if I were Blitzway.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

If I had the space (and money) I would order all 4 but I'll probably replace my Wonder Woman order with Peter Venkman. Although he's sold out everywhere. :O

You know this is extremely smart post!

This could be the reason for all the delays , maybe they had the initial sold out stock finished , and decided for a bigger cash grab.

The ordered a larger batch from the factories and they are waiting for those to finish for release.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Has no one in here even seen a production piece yet? Holy hell!

I think you just want someone to post a picture, any picture, even if it's crappy, just to see the chaos that will ensue.

I do too. :lol

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

:D

But no production pictures in all this time...? When did 1/6th become so hard for companies to manufacture in a reasonable amount of time? I mean, are there only 4 factories in China or something? Why do we wait a year to 18 mos from preorder? I could make two real babies in that time.

Revised, final production pics...

Yeah they are pretty cool, and probably a lot cheaper. Around $100 if I recall correctly, which is still not really cheap compared to the real deal whatever they look like in production. Sorry, back the original question :)

Yes.

There are very few factories that can produce at the "tier" collectors demand. Look at how many manufacturers there are. Sideshow, Hot Toys, Enterbay, DAM, Blitzway, Star Ace, threezero, QMX, Soldier Story, DID, Big Chief Studios, Mondo, DreamEx, Asmus, Phicen, Magic Cube, and then you start getting out into the weeds with all the off-shoot brands.

And the thing that bakes your noodle is that those 4 or 5 factories make ALL of these figures, but the quality amongst all of them varies.

Basically the way it works is that there will be one factory that does the heads, one that molds all the body parts, one that does the clothing, and you've got your packaging factory as well, then another factory that assembles everything. So, you've got lots of moving parts, you just estimate it will take 8 months, then whoops, your clothing factory is backed up and now that adds another two months.

It takes so long, because there are more manufacturers now, and less manufacturing capacity to go around, so the demand for manufacturing goes up, and when supply is low. . . whoops, that means the cost of manufacturing goes up. And now you're paying more than you were 5 years ago, simply because Star Ace and QMX want a piece of the pie too.

Its been 33 years. Surely a little (undisclosed amount of time) while longer can't hurt.

That's interesting. I always thought HT would have their own production source to maintain the high quality. And others simply had lower quality because they either chose to (to remain "affordable") but then used other lower end manufacturers.

The more details that come out on what happens behind the scenes for this hobby, the more interesting it is to me. (also the details from the supplier to customer end from a 1/6 shop owner).

Makes things like delays, availability, or batch sizes a bit easier to understand.
