Super Freak
Beat the game this weekend with about 34 hours on my first playthrough. Amazing game, probably the best overall game Miyazaki has produced. It was very streamlined with little to no filler, which was quite welcome. Loved how the world was interconnected, and more than once I found a shortcut to a previous area that blew my mind. The bosses overall were great, if a little easy at times. There were only two or three that gave me a hard time. Haven't really touched the chalice dungeons yet except for going in for specific weapons and armor. They remind me a lot of Dragon's Dogma. Overall I'd say I definitely found it easier than anything in the Souls series, though there were some difficulty spikes here and there. It really helps to be familiar with Souls combat and controls, because your learning curve isn't nearly as steep.
I'm about 4 hours in to NG+ right now, and it's a LOT tougher. I'm level 160 and spent some time yesterday getting my ass utterly handed to me by Father Gascoigne and the Blood-Starved Beast. Going to be spending more time trudging through that and trying some of the tougher dungeons, as a lvl 4 chalice dungeon soundly whipped my ass on the way to getting the Beast Claw.
I'd say this has made it into my top ten of all time, maybe even top five. Time will tell.
