The amount of mods happening to this figure is also highly due to boba being a highly scrutinized character that people love a lot - greedo had as many problems for example, but only very few people modded the hell out of him to look more like his seconds of screentime

Thats a very good point. I've been criticized for criticizing Boba models and I think wtf? How can you people not see this?

But then on characters that I'm ok with how they look in a more base form (ie, Vader should be tall and dark and menacing) when I see people making complaints about his helmet size or this being a hair off here or there, I think... OMG nerds...hes tall dark and menacing!

In the end I try just to remember, we all have our favorites that we can be **** about. :lol

I think Boba was a bit of a turning point for me in my perception of Sideshow. It was where I realized that SSC doing a figure doesn't necessarily mean we are getting "the" version of that armored or alien character (I never felt that way about SSC's human characters obviously) just simply because they really do get a lot wrong detail-wise and for no apparent reason. As I've stated before they get things wrong where it would be just as easy to get it right. But previously, I had felt that the armored/alien character had been "done" once SSC did it. Boba changed that.

I think the new $175 price point also set expectations a little higher. Sure, Boba's outfit is more elaborate than most Star Wars characters, but Sideshow seemed to miss the mark on this figure than they usually do, thus making all these oversights harder to forgive.

and if you take the prototype into consideration, which looked way better than the finished product, especially colorwise!

When has a finished product from Sideshow ever turned out as good as the prototype? :huh

i really want to get another boba and repaint it into a white prototype armor, just dont have the money right now

Same. I started collecting parts, then realized quickly I was better off buying a new one.

one thing i cant figure out is what to do for the jumpsuit, i'd prefer it to be clean and possibly lighter than it comes...my plan is to put him on the same shelf with the Empire troops, have him as the super-stormtrooper type leading the other OT troops

I was going to try to just strip it in rit and see if it looked any good, otherwise I'll take the suit to my drycleaners and have them make me something as close as possible in pure white.

^ That helmet looks excellent.

What happened.. :lol

The old helmet is actually a lot worse shape wise, silent surfer posted a comparison, and the one on the prototype is waaay off

edit: here it is

images
older 1 on the left, too long, same amount of flare

i am assuming we will see a white Boba Fett in the near future... hopefully SST will take a break form the clone variants and roll out some Mando ones...
