Nice Steven, really nice to see the first EVER Largo taking shape!

I say do what you think is best. I always thought a cloth piece would be a nice touch. I just think it would look better, BUT, with the valley and all, I guess I can always cut a piece of cloth and glue it over the sculpted patch...

Or as you say, use the valley to hold the straps in place if folks already have one, but how do you do that with the straps melding into the hair?

So... I think I will defer to you and Les on this one.

That's another good point. The strap may follow the "valley" across the forehead but then you'd have to make a matching indent in the hair so it seems seamless and... well, that doesn't work at all, does it?

So I guess it's either sculpted patch...OR no patch at all (meaning no sculpted strap and patch made much smaller to allow for a cloth patch as Spenser offered).

I appreciate the idea of a cloth patch, but I feel as if a cloth patch would make the figure too doll-like. same reason I hate zippers on 1/6 clothing. Hard to "sell it" in that scale.

And a minor point, but the pics you shared look to be "squished" a bit, like they're from a frame that has the wrong aspect ratio. Minor, minor point, but if you're using those as sculpt guides, might be an issue...

I was thinking cloth patch, but after seeing more fotos of Largo, I like the sculpted one. I'll get a largo either way though so I am easy to please :lol

So it's looking like people are coming around to Spenser's sculpted patch over the material patch...

I suppose one could always put a real patch over the sculpted patch anyway... so maybe it's best to have it sculpted.

Note to Spenser: (Happy Thanksgiving BTW)

Here's just a suggestion based on the pictures of Largo posted: I noticed that Largo's strap is thinner than the one sculpted. Is it possible to thin the sculpted strap down a bit? It would also help for those of us who plan to use a real cloth patch.

Also, Largo has a bit of eyebrow showing above his patch that's not seen in the sculpt.

I know you're still working on him, Spenser, and I'm thankful you've given us this advanced peek... so I'm sure you're already aware of these things. Just thought I'd point them out before you finished.

So what outfit will you choose for Largo? What do you feel is the most iconic for the character:

Great Ref shot WorGar!

And Spencer, You are the artist. I trust your call here.
Your Goldfinger and Blofeld heads were magnificent, and both were a pleasure to paint. I think I will be glad to have whatever comes from you. I can do either, a sculpted patch, or not. I think you have it close. The thinner line might be all it needs. He looks great so far.
Be glad to have this one too. Glad to see more guys chiming in also.

Have a great Thanksgiving fella! We all owe you much!

I think I am going to go with the white tux, although it would be cool in the wet suit to go along with the connery sideshow did

Well he’s done and I took the patch off, but left some areas so a separate patch will work. I’ll post some pictures later today.

Thanks Spense! Great news! I know Largo is one of your faves, so you must be happy too. The first Ever Largo, sounds good, very good indeed.

I will now defer to Les. :D

Here he is, done for the most part, I did add an eyebrow to the patch side and some small holes in the hair line that you can tuck the eye patch straps into.

I like it! The nose looks great, as does the mouth! LARGO!

I think the patch line should work to keep the strap in place. I don't see the eyebrow part over the "patched" eye but maybe you added it since you took that pic.

So when do we order? Is there a final pic coming?

That's great Steven! It is always cool to see your works in progress.
And this one turned out to be a bit more of a collaborative effort, but I think you made a lot of folks happy in doing so. As long as you are happy with your results.

And lord knows, PLEASE ship to WorGar! He's losing it! :lol
"Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" :D
Bless his heart. He is almost done with his Bond collection. I am happy for him.

Great work! :rock

Have I become too obsessive about Bond? :lol

I can't help it, just get excited when these Spenser Sculpts come around. When all is said and done, besides Star Wars and Alien and Terminator and Jaws and Raiders and everything else, BOND goes further back into my childhood than anything else... it was the first franchise for me, so it holds a special fascination all its own. It isn't a boundless fantasy like Star Wars, or just a simply perfect movie like Jaws, but other than Godzilla it was the first series of films that I grabbed onto whole-heartedly as a kid and I still remember the days when I hadn't seen them all... and I looked forward to those nights when the ABC Sunday Night Movie would present its newest Bond acquisition. And I remember vividly the night THUNDERBALL first aired. I cut the ad out of the TV guide to keep. Knowing me, I still have it somewhere.

Wor-Gar - Your Bond "obsession" is nothing to be concerned about. We all suffer from the same affliction, even if we don't express it quite as readily (or frequently) as you do! I suppose most of us have been Bond fans for a long time and have very fond recollections, not unlike yours.

Back in the days before movies were rated, my folks often took us kids with 'em to the theater. I remember seeing "Doctor No" when it was released, and being wowed by the action, but the first Bond movie that just blew me completely away was "Thunderball". I was a fan of "Sea Hunt" back then, so the big finale underwater battle with Largo's minions totally awed me. It's still my favorite Bond film to this day. And it's like a dream come true that all these years later we can actually own these fantastic miniature likenesses of Mr. Bond... and some of his greatest enemies, now thanks to Spenser.

Now, if only someone could make some of those lovely Bond girls for us, but without all the visible arm and leg joints..! :monkey5 :D

THANKS GUYS! :)

Just keeping the torch burning!

I know Les wants a Rosa Klebb and Red Grant... I have a sudden need to build a Karl Stromberg (only because I found the parts for his outfit and I've got that Jaws figure in blue blazer waiting)... and I'm sure everyone here has a figure they would like to have made at some point. Hell, just because his sheer size would be amusing, I would love to put together a little Nick Nack.

Hopefully we can keep BOND alive with these wonderful sculpts. I'm not certain, now that Largo has come to be, if Spenser has interest in continuing with some more Bond characters, but I hope so. There's still a handful of characters that would be amazing to have for a Bond collection.
