And now, the man himself.
As I stated earlier, my first reaction to Boromir was one of utter shock. The sculpt, paint, and coloring on mine are FLAWLESS. I'm looking for a mistake. Can't find one. Seriously, if Faramir comes looking like this I'm gonna scream like a little girl on Christmas morning. It's THAT GOOD.
Boromir is the son of the Steward, a prince in his land and beloved of his people. He is a true soldier's soldier--stern, solid, and proud. Boromir is all of that in this figure. His expression is regal and penetrating, yet not as profound as Faramir's would be--simply a brave warrior in the face of evil times. The paint job captures that in his somber gaze and his tight expression. He is also a man wounded by his rejected ideas and his awkward place in the Fellowship. This figure conveys all of that. What a great figure.
I was worried about the hair after the Toy Fair pics, but only needlessly so. It looks incredible. In fact I like it more than any of the other three. Take it out of his collar and spread it over the neck and it looks great. The color is (finally Sideshow) just right! Not too dark, not too light! Wow wow wow. Sideshow, you win.
The Box is as good as the others. Beautiful graphics, and telling information that is a true delight to read. It's actually well-written! Whomever it be that writes for Sideshow, does it well. This is more than enough information and reading to satisfy any Boromir fan.
Boromir is all an all a perfect figure, 4 out of 4 points. If Faramir turns out this good, I will sell my soul to Sideshow. I'm not a big Boromir fan, but I'm a HUGE Boromir figure fan. Even the regular is amazing, but with that head and cloak--just a winner in every regard. My sole complaint is that he does not come with his princely cloak, but I have nearly everything I need to make my own now. It will be a worthy addition to this most worthy figure.
No Boromir, you did not fail. You fought with honor. And this figure is a worthy memorial to your sacrifice.
