im glad they made a boromir piece, the armor/etc is great, i dont like the likeliness of the face, i guess it is hard for that characters.

the face is better than the weta boromir piece .

ugh - dont know if i want to order or wait for the PF.

my fav. character is Boromir, but i am real dissapointed on the price set up for this Maquette line at like $250 a pop.

anyone else recall the days when the same type of weta pieces were $125


still debating this piece, i just got the gollum pf which is incredible, not sure if i want to dwelve into this line.

Were those the same days when the Weta environments now selling at $200 a pop were selling for $100. When gas was selling for $1 a gallon instead of $4, and when groceries were selling for less than half of what they are today...yeah, I remember those days.

As for the price disappointment clearly you haven't been paying much attention to this line otherwise you would have known that every statue to date has sold for between $225-$250, and considering this maquette features the most intricate base produced so far I think everyone around here, with the exception of you, expected Boromir to sell in the $250 area.

And for the record.....the only thing the "same type of Weta pieces" have in common with this line is the 1/6 scale. The likenesses of this line are superior, the sculpts are much more complex, and they all feature intricate, detailed bases......comparing the SS maquette line to the SSW line is like comparing a Lexus to a Toyota.

the price of this line has to stay in the $250 range for the simple reason that it needs to co-exist with the PF line.

The only exceptions would be beasts which seem very feasible in this medium and can be scaled down. Collectors can display the beast as a sub-line of the maquettes. Or Sideshow can go all out and do their thing in scale. People would buy it.

And yeah, on an unrelated note, the diorama line for all licenses across Sideshow seems to be a waste of time for most collectors. It seems like dioramas in general died when the Marvel dio line went down in quality.

Nice to see other forum members climbing on boad with us. I really feel that this line will offer some great choices, as seen right here with this version of Boromir.

I'm sure SS likes seeing more and more people deciding to get into this line as well. Especially after Boromir, it shows that obscure costumes (like this one) and characters are of high interest.

Makes me think that maybe we'll get some other characters we never thought we would get. Like Haldir, Elendil, Isildur, etc.

We already know Faramir and Eomer are coming down the pike!

Yes, it is nice to see other forum members, esp. those who don't traditionally collect LOTR onboard for this one. In that respect Boromir reminds me of the Berserker PF....a statue that transcended collectible lines in that people who never buy LOTR were ordering him. It was a tribute to the greatness of that PF and in the case of Boromir I think it a tribute to this maquette that many people who don't collect LOTR have ordered this, and/or are looking into picking up the other maquettes in the line because of him.

And I too hope SS produces the other characters you listed, as well as other's. I've actually been on SS's case to produce a Haldir maquette for quite some time now, and I believe it'll probably take an organized effort by us [much like the Fellowship in PF campaign] if we want to see some of these characters eventually produced.

Have we heard any hints about when we might see our first hobbit maquette? I'm interested in Eomer and Faramir and all that, but my top priority is getting the full Fellowship.

I'd love to see Merry and Pippin up in Treebeard's branches. That would be killer.

yeah, this line has pulled me back in to collecting lotr stuff. i haven't seriously collected lotr items since the weta stuff with the exception of one or two of the 1/6 figures and the odd pf but the thought of all this line has to offer has me clearing shelf space.

all four of the hobbits on a single base would be cool as well (imo).

No word yet on the Hobbits other than SS saying they will be done, and they will be combined....Sam with Frodo, Merry with Pippin.

I don't remember a timeframe but IIRC they said they'd do pairs of hobbits as maquettes. So two more previews and you could see the entire Fellowship in maquette form.

My hope for a huge PF/Treebeard bust was this exact image, but it would work so much better as a maquette. My wife wants them to make the stoned Merry and Pippin that welcome everyone to Isengard. As long as they are hobbity in nature, I will be happy to get the full fellowship!

Count me as one of the members who started to snoop in here after Boromir was announced. He is by far my fav character in the films. Guess I can relate to his flawed yet kind nature It looks to be a great piece. If I get this it will be my only LOTR collectable. I use to have Sauron but had to make room for a characters I liked better. Since Boromir is my fav character in one of my fav films I think I can find some room for him.

We're really close. I've said from the start this would be the line that would allow for a complete Fellowship that people had gotten upset about. Also now that we're so close I dont think sales will be an issue with completing it because folks will want to add the hobbits to their collection.

I hope this is an isolated incident and that this line going full throttle + upcoming movies will help selling out.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. If every piece just sits around and does that then yeah but a piece here and there not so much.
