I saw no reason to hold this back for the Customs Challenge because I just came up with it today and have no current idea where to go colthing wise on this. This is a version of a character that doesn't get a lot of attention nowadays. No it isn't Mr. Fantastic with an eye patch. Its Nick Fury. Many people are now familiar with the Samuel L. Jackson version no thanks to the Iron Man movie. I actually like the Ultimates version, but I still really like the classic version of Nick Fury.

I just slapped on some stuble and whitened the hair on a Giles head and gave him the eye patch from Xander. I'm pretty happy with it. And in case you are wondering, yes, I do have an extra cigar around for him :lol

Any suggestions on clothing would be appreciated. I just don't want to go with the blue SHEILD outfit. Too hard and not my favorite. Maybe something in a suit? I think it is a Bradstreet artwork, but there is a pic of Fury holding a Punisher shirt that I've always liked. Maybe something like that?

Any any suggestions what to do with the eye under the patch? Its just been left alone for now.

I have a head that I am getting ready to turn into my own Fury custom (I am sending the head to be painted by some who has more talent that I for painting heads). For the costume, I am going for the look he has on an upcoming Steve McNiven cover. Her is a link to the cover:

I am using a head from Red Planet that resembles Sam Elliot. Your looks great.

Thanks. That is a great outfit choice for yours. A bit busier than what I think I could do, but still cool. Definately looks like the hardened killing machine I picture him being.

Thanks King.

Only thing I feel I should really work on is the eyepatch. It just seems so BIG in those pics. Mostly the elastic. Probably will just have to sculpt it on.

Yeah, as you can see in that pic, in the comic it isn't much more than a line. Should be a simple enough fix though. The only question is wether to sculpt the strap or just paint it on.

I have the answer!! I did this very same thing with my Xander custom. I cut off the elastic strap, glued the patch on the face where I wanted it... And for the string, really easy. All you do is cut a piece of black thread, glue in place where the hole is on the eyepatch, run it to the hairline and dab another bit of glue there (just a tiny bit) and again over the ear and on the other hole. It looks MUCH better that way and you will not be disappointed. Just be sure you are done painting the face before you put it on there.

And funny that you used Giles, I too just used a Giles head for one of my challenge figures. :D

Thanks Josh! I barely caught your post in time! I was trying to sculpt one on and just put it in the oven. Grabbed it out before it hardened. I will give your idea a go.

Now I am really interested in your Challenge figures. Hmmm. I did think he would make a good Dr. Crane. Hmmm.

Tons better Josh! And no, the stubble doesn't look so Sideshow-ish in person, its the flash.

And I just found out who Bradstreet used as a model for this shot:

Very ironic. Thomas Jane. The comic version looks better though. :lol

FANTASTIC! A MILLION times better now! That trick works great... Giles isn't a bad Nick Fury, who would have thunk it?

And as for my challenge figure... Just wait and see. Your guess was cold.... but perhaps that is appropriate afterall. ;)

Thanks Josh! I'm really happy with it. Just disapointed how horrible that flash makes the stubble look. It honestly looks MUCH better in person, more like the first pics I took with the Huge eyepatch straps.

And AH! Very interesting take indeed!

Thanks Josh. Figured Han's gloves are about as close as any available out there, so I went with those.

But I really can't wait to see your's dyed and finished. It looks fantastic. Your painting of the head is miles above mine. Very awesome :rock

Just got back from SDCC and this outfit was in my mail box! :D

Josh's head, Les' paint-up. Temp Sideshow body, so it should fit slimer/smaller bodies just fine!

Did you alter the outfit before you put it on the figure? I got mine today and no matter which body I use (Dragon or SS), the belly section won't fit.

Nope. Belly button doesn't want to stayed closed either, but got it to stay closed for the pic and that was it. I imagine a slimmer body would work. We will have to wait until Josh or one of the other Customizers gets theirs and they can tell us which bodies fit best.
