Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Doesn't matter. Weaving is contractually obligated for more films. If he doesn't want to do it now, after Disney's lawyers get finished shoehorning their strap-on into his ass, he'll not only finish his contract, but sign on for the duration and maybe even a few cameos on the SHIELD show. :lol

:lol:lol:lol

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

From BAD:

I did sign up for a number of pictures and I suppose, contractually, I would be obliged to, if they forced me to, but they wouldn't want to force someone to do it, if they didn't want to.

What an interesting statement! I don't think he's doing that 'negotiating in the press' thing I hate so much - he's pretty much flat out said he doesn't want to come back, period. There's not much wiggle room. What it reads like is Weaving setting the foundation for his excuse if Marvel forces him back for another movie and he phones it in - which essentially is the threat.

Would Marvel force him back? They have the clout. But maybe it would be worth it for them to recast the role, or to have the Skull never again appear as the Skull but rather take over the bodies of others before turning their faces into skulls (he's done that in the comic a couple of times).

I guess there's one more final possibility: Red Skull is appearing in a cameo in Iron Man 3 and Weaving is giving some Marvel-mandated disinfo. This is actually not the least likely possibility, but I don't think it's the case. I think he just genuinely isn't interested in doing it again.

Recast and move on. Let him play Matrix and Hobbit characters. He was fine as the Skull but he didn't own it the way Hiddleston did Loki.

Fixed :wink1:

____________

I liked him as Skull and would prefer him reprising the role but if he doesn't want to do it, no point them forcing him.

Yeah, just stick the makeup on someone else and have them put on a German accent, no biggie. Recasting someone whose entire face you can cover in prosthetics isn't quite as egregious as say recasting Tony Stark.

I disagree, actually. I think he was phenomenal as Schmidt. :huh

That said though, given the Winter Soldier aspect and Widow's presence in the movie, it would be just as easy to recast the role and play at Albert Malik (a KGB agent) having a go as Red Skull.

:exactly: Cap has plenty of good villains Skull doesn't even need a large part just the puppeteer...

I really liked Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull in the same way as Mark Strong's portrayal of Sinestro.

I thought he was great too. He seemed happy with the role at SDCC. But that was only after 4 days of shooting :lol

Its not like he didn't know what he was getting himself into. He knew he might end up playing the Skull a bunch of times by his contract. Thats not one of those little things they try to sneak into the fin print afterall. :cuckoo:

I hate whiny actors.

STFU with your millions, we don't want to hear it.

Come down to the real world and see how fast he will be begging to play RS again and again.

Really, he ought to be jumping for joy at the mere thought. These films are already achieving iconic status, I'd want to hitch my little star to that if I was him, but what do I know.

If he doesnt want to come back, get someone new. I liked him as RS, but he's no Loki. He's replaceable.

He's probably just going on a tittybaby rant after having missed out on Avengers and hearing about the bonuses handed out. :lol

:goodpost:

I enjoy most of his work, and thought he did a superb job as Schmidt/Red Skull, but kick his ass to the curb.

Cast someone who wants the role and the work. Look at Tom Hiddleston, classicly trained actor ~gasp~ playing a comic book villian, and from the looks of it, having the time of his life doing so.:clap

I like the Skull but no where as much as Loki! I don't know why he's whining now. Like its been mentioned, he played Agent Smith in 2 craptacular Matrix sequels and did bit parts in LOTR, so now he doesn't want in on the Marvel action....? I'd say he's.... :cuckoo:

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

You guys are all being babies about what the dude wants. He's not talking down to it, he's not asking for more money. He just didn't enjoy it. So what. Some actors love it, some don't.

Not a big deal.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Well, try getting up every morning to put on make up and latex for 8 hours every day, and acting like a over the top evil german. :lol

It might be fun for the first few days, but that **** will tire you out.
