Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

You guys are all being babies about what the dude wants. He's not talking down to it, he's not asking for more money. He just didn't enjoy it. So what. Some actors love it, some don't.

Not a big deal.

Honoring your contractual obligations isn't a big deal? :dunno

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

I think you guys are missing the main point he wanted to make:

But, I increasingly like to go back to what I used to always do, which is to get involved with projects that I really have a personal affiliation with.

He didn't say "I don't do sci-fi, or I don't do trilogies." He mentioned "personal affiliiation." He CREATED the character of Agent Smith, at least on the portrayal side of things. Not the Red Skull. "But he didn't create Elrond!" No, but he could have a personal connection for other reasons. Maybe the LOTR are his favorite books, maybe he and PJ are best friends, who knows, but for whatever reason the RS just didn't connect with him as a persona that he wants to play over and over, especially if it's one that will require make-up for the entirety of all future sequels.

I will be bummed if they recast or if he returns and doesn't bring his A game though. Hopefully he's enough of a professional that that's not something we'll have to worry about.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

He knew before he signed on for TFA that he'd be required to return for sequels and I don't doubt he did his research. I'd say the aforementioned in conjunction with the fact that he's looking to duck out of his contractual obligation speaks volumes about his "professionalism."

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Well, try getting up every morning to put on make up and latex for 8 hours every day, and acting like a over the top evil german. :lol

It might be fun for the first few days, but that **** will tire you out.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-HOO-HOO-HOO-HOO for him! OMG! How can we ever expect a guy to get out of bed and make millions enacting a role for a film! It is a crime, a travesty!!! Make it stop!!

Look, I am a nurse. I work twelve hour shifts in a hospital. I guarantee you this guy would not make it through ONE SHIFT of doing what I do. Not a single shift. Not talking about the nuts and bolts, but the sheer stress and the chronic understaffing, which means a double load thrown onto each person.

I imagine his job is much cushier than that of practically anyone posting on these boards. This is why no one is sympathizing with his plight, because those of us with jobs are working much, much harder for a tiny fraction of the pay. So therefore, this guy should quit complaining about a job that other, more grateful actors would jump at the chance to have. A FUN job, a cool job. And he complains. To which I say: come see how the other 99% lives.

By all means, recast. Kick his ungrateful ass to the curb.

Right. That's why I said I hope he's at *least* enough of a professional to honor his literal obligation even if he isn't professional enough to not cry about it. :D

Keyboard Warrior strikes again!!
Unlike you, Nazimagazine, I have an actual job... I've been out of my parent's home for years, and I don't cry about an actor's career choices... :lol

I like how you completely ignored the other Freak who agreed with my post. Proof you're trolling. Reported. :wave

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Actually, his lack of joy in the role might help him be a bigger bastard in future movies. Go ahead Hugo, tap that inner Red Skull. You stop when I say you can stop! :nana:
