Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Actually, his lack of joy in the role might help him be a bigger bastard in future movies. Go ahead Hugo, tap that inner Red Skull. You stop when I say you can stop! :nana:

I was thinking about that as well. Sometimes the best villain portrayals come from actors utilizing their "misery." :lol

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Turns out he didn't care much for Megatron either :lol

Actor Hugo Weaving gave a candid interview recently where, in addition to saying he had no desire to return as Red Skull in any future Captain America or Marvel movies, he also said some pretty frank things about his work as the voice of the evil Megatron in director Michael Bay's Transformers movies.

Weaving told Collider while doing press for Cloud Atlas that he's not yet been contacted about reprising his role as Megatron for Transformers 4. He added, "That’s a weird job for me because it honestly was a two-hour voice job, initially. I was doing a play and I actually didn’t have time, anyway. It was one of the only things I’ve ever done where I had no knowledge of it, I didn’t care about it, I didn’t think about it. They wanted me to do it."

He continued, "In one way, I regret that bit. I don’t regret doing it, but I very rarely do something if it’s meaningless. It was meaningless to me, honestly. I don’t mean that in any nasty way. I did it. It was a two-hour voice job, while I was doing other things. Of course, it’s a massive film that’s made masses of money. I just happened to be the voice of one of the iconic villainous characters. But, my link to that and to Michael Bay is so minimal. I have never met him. I was never on set. I’ve seen his face on Skype. I know nothing about him, really. I just went in and did it. I never read the script. I just have my lines, and I don’t know what they mean. That sounds absolutely pathetic! I’ve never done anything like that, in my life. It’s hard to say any more about it than that, really."

I'm predicting a rehab check-in for substance abuse, in his future. :lol

Wow. Look at him whine about phoning it in! He's not stupid, he knows he's been playing the same character for years but he gets paid a fortune to do it. WTH? He knows this **** ain't Shakespeare!

Maybe he really does want to do Priscilla Queen of the Desert 2? Way to douche it up Weaving. :slap

:exactly: What's with these ungrateful actors these days? First Shia and now him... :dunno

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Really?
You guys are comparing Weaving to Shia LeDouche and Megan Fox?...
A stage actor, with plenty of experience both in movies and theaters, very respected and that has won acting awards vs. 2 crappy wannabe "actors"?
Really?... :slap

Where's the professionalism in an actor trying to weasel out of a contractual obligation?

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Yup,

didn't say he wasn't a better actor.

But he's acting no different than those 2.

Actually, worse with his I would have to be forced BS!

They haven't even asked him back yet... :dunno...
He's not "weaseling out" he's just stating how he feels about it... nothing wrong with that...

Here's what he said:

WEAVING: I did that for Captain America. I think the tendency, with those films, would be to probably not bring a villain back. They might for The Avengers, but I didn’t think I’d be in Captain America 2 or 3. I don’t think Red Skull will be there. And it’s not something I would want to do again. I’m glad I did it. I did sign up for a number of pictures and I suppose, contractually, I would be obliged to, if they forced me to, but they wouldn’t want to force someone to do it, if they didn’t want to. I think I’ve done my dash with that sort of film. It was good to do it and try it out, but to be honest, it’s not the sort of film I seek out and really am excited by. As an actor, to do all sorts of different films is great. It stretches you in different ways. But, I increasingly like to go back to what I used to always do, which is to get involved with projects that I really have a personal affiliation with.

It's not BS... it's the truth... :dunno

In any case... he did a great job as Red Skull and I don't care if he doesn't return...
plenty of other villains in the Marvel Universe out there, so no need to get your panties in a bunch over his comments... :lol

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Stage actors can be *********s too. If he felt that way about both projects why do it and then ***** about how stupid they are. These people think too highly of themselves for anyone to take them seriously.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

He was alright with Matrix 2 & 3 which were crapfests LOL.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

**** your noise. No one wants to hear it.

Don't you have to go kill James Bond and fail again? Jesus Christ. :lol

Quit whining, and get back over to the Prometheus thread. Have no idea what you're going on about re Bond, nor do I care; its merely that the amount of "WAAAAH" you emit is dysproportional to the amount of interesting input you contribute to these forums. Its about a 1000:1 ratio, from where I sit.

Cya.

Its a known fact that failing to reprise popular roles is a thing which usually ends up hurting an actor's career. Its his career to screw up, but just sayin'.

Bring the recast.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Most actors will do commercials for hemroid cream when they start out.....then later once they "make it", It's all about the "art and meaning" of the project. So many of these people are so fake.

:goodpost:

On the flip side, I can see why people are worried and demanding a recast. Harrison Ford didn't want to come back to RotJ. But he was contractually obliged to return and know what? Han Solo wasn't cool in that movie! He didn't wanna be there and it showed...

Forget recasting. Simply forget Red Skull and pick another villain. That simple really. I didn't care for the original Captain America nor think Red Skull or his whole plan was very memorable. I want this movie to break apart from that as much as possible. Cap was cool in the Avengers so I'm more excited for Cap 2 than I was when I left the theaters for Cap 1.

I'm 98.5% sure you just made that up...

Agree on the first part about Ford...

I did like Cap 1 though a lot!

Besides, this is Hollywood.... things change ALL the time...
let's get back on track...
Bring on Cap 2!! :rock!
