Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

I'm no fan of Bay and his movies, but major props for him to have the guts to say what he said.

Even if he later recants or deletes his remark. (like most people do now a'days)

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

PR dude's probably said "BAY STOP BLOWING UP ON THE INTERNETS JESUS!"

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Elrond may find his career declining after this, just ask the other 2 knuckleheads how they're doing after their similar remarks.

The mighty will quickly be brought down, why, because he's not the truly mighty.

He's messing with folks who write Oprah Winfrey's and Michael Bay's checks.

Go ahead, keep talking trash about the hands that feed you.

Fool.

Another one out of touch with reality.

I didn't really see a huge issue with his Cap comments. But I did with the Transformers ones.

From what I got, he was grateful to do Cap, but didn't enjoy it too much.

He just flat out called Transformers a little thing he did. And while Transformers doesn't challenge anyone outside of the director, and CGI guys, it's still insulting.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

You know what, if Weaving has signed up to do more movies he should just get on with it. That said if he really doesn't want to do it and he's forced to I don't want him to do a half-assed job. The fact is that you need a good character actor for the role and while he is one he's FAR from being the only one, never-mind the best one. Someone like Andy Serkis or Michael Sheen could easily step in and do a better job. So if this is a ploy on his part to get more money thrown his way to convince him to stay on it could easily backfire. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Considering he became an A-list actor mainly from genre films he shouldn't be talking sh-t. Matrix, LOTR, Cap. America, Cloud Atlas, Transformers, Wolfman, V for Vendetta...

His biggest films all have a strong comic book or fantasy influence. He should be more respectful to the hand feeding him.

:exactly:

Go Micheal Bay. :yess:

From SHH:

Now, Michael Bay has responded on his website... (Editor's Note: The item has since been removed from his site. You can still read the text below.)

"Do you ever get sick of actors that make $15 million a picture, or even $200,000 for voiceover work that took a brisk one hour and 43 minutes to complete, and then complain about their jobs? With all the problems facing our world today, do these grumbling thespians really think people reading the news actually care about trivial complaints that their job wasn’t “artistic enough” or “fulfilling enough”? I guess The Hollywood Reporter thinks so.

What happened to people who had integrity, who did a job, got paid for their hard work, and just smiled afterward? Be happy you even have a job – let alone a job that pays you more than 98% of the people in America.

I have a wonderful idea for all those whiners: They can give their “unhappy job money” to a wonderful Elephant Rescue. It’s the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Africa. I will match the funds they donate.

Kudos for Bay on that rant! He is SO CORRECT whether you like him or not! :clap

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

You're kidding I hope? :cuckoo:

Nope, I'm not kidding... I rather sit and watch Matrix 1 & 2 over, and over again before watching Indy 4, or TF... :dunno

Hehe Shia Ladouche. I like that.
:hi5:

I'm 98.5% sure that I didn't; I recently read an article about this issue. As I recall, one of the people discussed was Val Kilmer declining to reprise Batman. That was perhaps Kilmer's stupidest decision out of an entire career's-worth of stupid decisions, but like I said its his career to wreck.

Don't know where you read that crap but after Batman, he did Heat, Island of Dr. Moreau, Ghost and the Darkness, The Saint, *******, Red Planet... just to name a few... and while they are certainly not brilliant movies, I wouldn't say that not reprising Batman had anything to do with that...
He was a great actor before Batman, and did pretty well afterwards...
The fact that currently he hasn't had a lot of exposure has little to nothing to do with Batman dude... :cuckoo:

:lecture He's right on the money there. But he still sucks :lol

Isn't Bay the one that said he wouldn't do any Transformers sequels and has done 3 already?

Weaving's just jealous he didn't get a call from Chris Nolan.

:slap

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Batman: A-list film.

Heat, Island of Dr. Moreau, Ghost and the Darkness, The Saint, *******, Red Planet: B-list films. A big step down.

Me, I'd want to stay with the A-list crowd, but like I said its his career to ruin, not my biz.

What I said was more nuanced; when you refuse to reprise a popular role, often your career takes a turn for the worse. Kilmer found that out, he wasnt the first nor will he be the last.

Weaver might just find it out, too. Oh well. *shrug*

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Though i agree with Bay's words, it's hypocritical of him to say that about money seeing the amount he demands in his contracts.

The rest, absolutely, but with DeNiro and Pacino, Heat wasn't a B-list film. :lol

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

IMO Kilmer has three movies: Real Genius, The Doors and Heat. Everything else is a mix of mediocre and suck.

My opinion after seeing him in interviews over the years is he slipped a gear in the head. Too bad.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Kilmer was in some "Memento-ish" movie about 10 years ago where he played a junkie in pursuit of his wife's killer. Anyone remember that one? I remember enjoying it.
