Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Awful costume. Hope it isn't in it very long

agreed! hate the new costume.Very dull and doesn't ressemble Cap much...Avengers costume is still the best costume based on the original comic costume

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

No way. TFA all the way. Even the USO costume is better than the goofy Avengers one.

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

The law of averages say Marvel isn't going to hit a home run with every release..maybe this will be the start of the Marvel movie implosion??????????:panic:

I think GOTG will be the first big misstep, myself:wink1:

IMO, IM3 was the first misstep. A big one at that!

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

^ & IM2 and TIH (for me anyway) and alot of people don't hold Thor or TFA to much esteem. The only real big hits they've had is Avengers & Iron Man and possibly IM3 for its gross anyway.

:exactly:

Rumor has it he wears the 40s costume from TFA at some point. That would be rad.

I heard he nicks it from aa museum.

While i like TFA he never acomplished the legendary status that the Cap comics have him as for his costume to be in a museum. And since he was wearing it when he froze it would have to be a recent addition :cuckoo:

Cash making juggernaut popular with both critics and the general movie goer is a huge misstep? :goodpost:

Wait, you're serious?

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

I wouldn't call IM3 a huge critical success or anything, but I thought it was a'aight. Got a 62 score on Metacritic. Better than part 2 though in my opinion.

So you think both the Cap movie and GOTG will be misstep's based on. . .what, costume design and the use of non-mainstream characters?

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Now the Avengers costume is the good one. :lol

The best one imo. It's the one that actually looks closest to Cap from the comics. I guess that's considered corny nowadays, but I prefer a little old-fashioned.

I liked the Cap costume, but something about the head looked off. :dunno

Not trying to make a point, but RT has a 78% for Iron Man 3. I don't know which review grabbing site is the better one though. :lol

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

“It’s a cool story and brings in some amazing characters and the Falcon is one of the things that fans are already excited about,” Mackie said. “It’s a movie that has kind of turned into a bigger-than-life opportunity for me. I’ve had these little milestones along the way and now to play a superhero and to work with people like Robert Redford, Sam Jackson, and Chris? It’s just turned into this amazing moment.”

Mackie says the character won't just "fall into" his position like so many other heroes, saying that he's “a really smart guy who went through major military training and becomes a tactical leader, he’s not some guy that fell into this.”

The Falcon is a character that is most well known for the tradition of being one of the first African American superheroes, and Mackie isn't taking the character's ideals or traditions lightly.

“The most important thing I got from everybody at Marvel about the Falcon was the need to show that he’s a very righteous, man-forward kind of guy. He would do anything to protect the man next to him and to protect his country. That’s the integrity of the character and the integrity of the man and that that’s what I have focused on.”

“The biggest thing for me, the most exciting thing for me, is to come out on Halloween and see all the little black kids dressed up like the Falcon. There are so many parts of our society that are not catered to or represented fully and this will give a new generation of our society someone to look up to and identify with. That’s why I am so intensely focused on bringing the character to life in a special way.”

Re: Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

Sounds like Rhodey V2. I guess military or former military (including the guy from First Avenger and the guard of the Rainbow Bridge in Thor) is the only way Marvel U producers can figure to integrate black characters into that universe. Personally, I think a former gangster turned social worker would be a heck of a lot more interesting as a potential superhero. I do hope he's got the social justice orientation and doesn't have another traditional military-type personality though. What he means by "protect his country" is important when we're talking about Falcon (national security or the poor and exploited?).

Maybe Black Panther will be treated a bit differently.
