Keep in mind that Avi Arad started his "career" in the 1990s by bootlegging a crappy Batman figure.
No kidding . . . he & Ike Perlmutter had a mold of a Keaton Bats fig that they bootlegged into a Toybiz/Marvel empire.
Perlmutter is now a multi-billionaire. Arad's become a wealthy movie producer.
But both started out bootlegging superhero figures and scraping together sales to form ToyBiz! :lol

The fact that Marvel Studios has been building their universe for eight years gives them a tremendous advantage over other comic-book IPs.

They've taken the time to do the world-building and establish a continuity between events and characters.
This movie is looking to be the culmination of all that effort.
It's unprecedented in the genre, and as ambitious as this is, they still have Infinity War to assemble. :monkey3

It's not just unprecedented in the genre of superhero films alone...it's unprecedented in any genre. To build a universe that not only focuses on earth, but other worlds, galaxies , and with DR. Strange, alternate realities and dimensions and to some how unite all these different franchises and worlds into one cohesive story line, it's something that's never been done before. No to mention working with another Sony and expanding their cinematic universe across other studios with Sipderman and also the television shows and netflix shows :thud: Even withing their super hero genre there are different types of genre films, so they're not all exactly the same. It's beyond ambitious, but they took their time and yes they don't always hit a home run....but what studio or movie franchise does anyway?

Disney has fouled up the MCU before (IM3 was pure doo-doo) so they're hardly blameless . . . but they seem to meddle with their IPs less than the assclowns who run WB. :dunno

To everyone here in the forum it's epic, to the average movie goer is cumbersome. Why? When bvs came out everyone who I talked to didn't need an explanation, the storyline worked, and was understood, then they brought up how marvel has a ton of movies and mind you, "average" movie goer does not know where to begin, so when they see movies like age of ultron they have no clue what's going on.

Yeah, this is pretty obvious. No way in hell does the average movie goer have a clue what's going on. Hell, my friend was talking to me about how he was excited to finally see scarlet witch in a movie :slap ( I have no clue how he even knows who scarlet witch is). Another person didn't believe me that Ant-man could possibly be in Civil War. The movies don't necessarily compliment each other anyway. It seems directionless when marathon watching them, each a tiny little step towards something... something vague and mooshy. I actually enjoy seeing these once or twice in theaters then never thinking about it again till I'm sitting in the next one. It makes each installment feel a little less repetitive.

It's all about choice. When Marvel set about the MCU in 2008, WB was just diving into Nolan Batman with Dark Knight, it was a gamble by Marvel, but they had a plan and have executed it. DC rode out Nolan and after their Golden Goose stopped laying eggs, they started scrambling to try and get a piece of the action Marvel the seeing and are rushing into the ensemble movies without developing characters alone enough to get you invested in their ongoing story. We got origins for the key 4 Avengers, DC only gave us their Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman rest on knowing the gist of their characters ahead, but they're unique, I didn't really care about Batfleck cuz I didn't witness the events that left him so jaded and angry, cuz it's more than just Superman, we get that well implied, but it would have meant more to feel the emotion of those events with him.

WB should embrace after credit scenes. Marvel made Iron Man in 2008, a solo film with no connections to anything, and with ONE post credit scene, they created a cinematic universe. Then they used shield and a few characters like Fury or Coulson to connect the films. Smart.

See, IM2 isn't so bad afterall. :lol

Exactly. They think just some email will be all to tell us about characters like aquaman and flash and cyborg. People who don't know anything about DC beside the norm were confused AF when cyborg and aquaman appeared.

Wow I didn't know that.

Also that makes me so angry. Superman is the lord of allllllll superheros. He is a worldwide icon. Hate him or love him the S on his chest is the most recognizable symbol ever and batman is well..... freakin batman. The movie should of been a masterpiece and made bank. It should of been made years ago. If they introduced Superman into Bale's movies they would of had somthing but no they wanted this "realistic " universe and then scramble back to the drawing board when tdkr ended. Screw that last movie.
But we did get a better batman of it.

Honestly, the whole IM vs Capt idea feels more epic than BVS ever did, mainly because there's an actual history to these characters on film, unlike new Batman is angry and wants to fight and Superman just wants to talk to Bats about his mom :lol Spiderman is the cherry on top of what should be a really good film with really cool action scenes...from what I've seen so far.

This is an excellent point as well and I feel the same. Fans essentially have to utilize the comics' relationship of Batman and Superman to transpose it toward their film characters.

We've actually seen the friendship, rivalry and confrontations between Captain America and Iron Man on-screen for the past several movies. Cap even knew Tony's dad Howard. So for MOST of the general viewing audience, the Captain America vs. Iron Man slug-fest is easier to relate to and carries more weight than Batman's and Superman's first outing. The audiences are INVESTED in Evans' Captain America and Downey's Iron Man...they CARE about them because we've been seeing them grow and develop throughout the MCU movies. We know both Cap and Iron Man are heroes, but ideologically have their rifts and character differences that we've seen tensely building since their first "on-screen" encounter in "The Avengers". Even the trailers demonstrate a plausible reason for their fight...the Sokovia Accords is something they don't see eye-to-eye on, Cap is also defending his life-long friend Bucky and Iron Man is trying to assist in taking them in (and we also see Stark's best friend Rhodes get taken down too). The battle gets beyond ideology and morals and is demonstrated to become deeply personal.

My girlfriend (who is a casual superhero fan and loves the superhero movies/TV series) has already expressed sadness at seeing BFFs Captain America and Iron Man fight... :rotfl but could careless about Batman vs. Superman.....and Batman is her favorite superhero!
