They really are kind of a dream team for these types of movies. Joe has said that he's been collecting comics since he was 10 (1981) and seems to know all the great high points for Marvel characters going way back into random one-offs from the 70's and 80's. He and Anthony are always pitching their best ideas to each other, vetoing the crap, and trying to defer to the best idea for any given sequence. Though how the Sam Wilson jump slipped through is anyone's guess I suppose. Maybe it was a Feige thing. :lol We'll see how long they continue in that vein but the two of them together really weathered a massive production that would have given Whedon cardiac arrest and they aren't given any indication that they're "worn out."

After Inifinity War I'm really looking forward to seeing them hopefully do some more contemporary/classic action films minus the sci-fi elements, though I suppose I'd be more than curious if they DID attempt something more sci-fi oriented (like say their own Terminator-esque original narrative.)

Yea, and it's probably a lot easier to take something like this on when you have someone else that has your back 100%. And Marvel seems to be more comfortable with them doing the far out there stuff that might come off as weird with another director doing it, the two things they wanted that Marvel original said no to was Zola the computer in TWS and

Giant Man

in CW. Marvel said it was to weird to do those and they said "NO, it's comic book movie! there's going to be out there stuff and there should be!" which I think is awesome, I can't wait to see what they bring to the table with IW.

Really enjoying the elevated conversations from you guys. Great stuff.

@Khev I was thing about Madame Hydra the other day because I thought we would've seen her by now after the events of WS. Such a great femme fatale, I'd hate to see her end up as some crap version on AoS.

The box office numbers are really good, but I think they would've been much better if AoU wasn't such a disappointment. At the current pace it doesn't look like CW is going to pass AoU, which is a real shame.

Daniel Brühl deserves a lot of credit for how well Zemo turned out in this film. In the hands of a lesser actor that role could have been pedestrian, at best. But he's pretty great.

:goodpost: I too agree that he did a really great job as the character. And I am convinced he somehow took the serum out of the other WS's and either injected it into himself or is saving it for later. Can't wait to see him in other films.

Yep, he basically played the Eisenberg Luthor role of this film and I think a temptation for a lesser actor would be to ham it up and be a little over the top to compensate for the fact that he didn't have a cool costume or abilities. He didn't "try too hard" to make his performance memorable, he just played it straight, cool, and classy and that really made for a respectable villain.

Yeah before Civil War was announced I was hoping for an Eva Green Madame Hydra and the Serpent Society. Then effing Feige used my idea as a JOKE title so I'm assuming he thinks they're too "stupid" to appear in the movies (like Computer Zola and Giant-Man, apparently, before the Russos convinced him otherwise.)

I'm not surprised that they're passive aggressively making their displeasure with him somewhat public.

TWS made less than The Avengers too though. Their movies are just too good to appeal to everybody.

I'm still bothered by what the relationship is between Panther's ring and Winter Soldier's arm. It's not vibranium. Unless panther could somehow use the ring to control the metal of Bucky's arm some other way. T'Challa is known to be Tony stark-esque with his gadgets.

Thought it was kind of cool how, despite being in a crazy rage, Iron man was only trying to separate Cap and not harm him initially as he focused on Winter Soldier. But Stark should have had his suit analyze both Bucky and Caps fighting styles. He might have beaten them both soundly if he did that earlier.

What's great with these Evans/Russo movies is that they really are making the "definitive" versions of these films right out of the gate. Not saying that Cap's origin or even the Russo films can't be improved upon (good luck though) but none of them have that "missed opportunity" vibe of so many other cbm's that tackle classic stories from print.

Marvel doesn't *ever* have to show Cap's origin again, or ever revisit the Winter Soldier or Civil War storylines, etc. Whereas even after being referenced in 17 different movies Miller's The Dark Knight Returns STILL doesn't feel properly realized on film, nor does The Dark Phoenix Saga, The Death of Superman or Gwen Stacy's death, etc.

On another note, effing Disney needs to release reprints of these posters to the public NOW. :cuss

Why, why, WHY were these not hung in theaters across the nation? :gah:

Hell, the Russo's even delivered a definitive Spidey and Black Panther in a Cap movie. :lol

@Dark Knight Returns references.

They had enough faith in Snyder to do Watchmen and 300 but still couldn't give him the reigns to make a complete version of TDKR. Go figure.

Maybe WB wanted to assemble The Dark Knight Returns like the Da Vinci Code where you have to put together every film since Batman 89 in a certain order to have it play out properly on screen.

The ****? :lol

khev started it. :lol

NASA circa 2216 will be carbon dating Commissioner Yindell's cameo in Aquaman's movie.

Notify the museam that we found it, we found her scene lecturing Gordon!
