Oh man the good ole 80's and early 90's of home cinema. :lol

Yep 2.35:1 movies on P/S VHS were just brutal. And I remember reading complaints of idiots who refused to upgrade even in the early 2000's who had to listen to Galadriel say "And nine rings were given to the race of men..." *cut to three dudes holding some rings.*

:lol :duh

Damn...some ugly truths we all know exists being made public...

MAY, 16 2016 IRON MAN 3 DIRECTOR SHANE BLACK SAYS 'REAL' MANDARIN WAS MARVEL'S APOLOGY TO FANS

Plus, the original villain in the film was a woman.

Marvel's short film "All Hail the King" was a response to Iron Man 3, according to director Shane Black.

"Marvel saw so many negative things they made a whole other movie just to apologize called [sic] Hail to the King," Black told Uproxx's Mike Ryan when the topic of negative online comments regarding Iron Man 3 came up. "In which they said, 'No, no, the Mandarin is still alive. That wasn't him. There's a real Mandarin." The only reason it was made, he added, was to apologize to angry fans.

At least Marvel cares about what some fans think...unlike some other studios...yup.

Marvel didn't expect backlash to Iron Man 3's treatment of the character—in fact, the studio thought fans would "eat it up."
"It never occurred to us the Mandarin is as iconic to people as, say, the Joker in Batman," Black said. "[Fans] just wanted to see the magic rings shoot lasers."

He's not :lol

Black also revealed there was an "early draft" of the film where the villain was a woman. The director was explicitly told by Marvel executives the villain could not be a woman "because, after consulting, [they] decided that toy won't sell as well it it's a female."

Was that executive George Lucas? :lol

What Avengers: Infinity War Writers Learned From Writing Captain America: Civil War

The director said that both Iron Man 3's Stéphanie Szostak and Rebecca Hall had their roles reduced from an early draft of the script. Because of "Marvel corporate"—and not Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, Black stressed—the writers had to change the entire script. In the draft, the female character was essentially Guy Pearce's Killian character, and the major difference was the gender.

Man, I know toy sales are important but that was such a useless thing to do considering Killian didn't have toys made of him lol

Reminds me of Colin Farrell saying he only did the first Daredevil film because he wanted to be in a movie that allowed him to be an action figure. And then no Bullseye toys were ever made...

What's great about the MCU is that after only 1 pass thru the entire series of movies one can then just sit back and enjoy TFA/TWS/CW as a standalone trilogy even though it's really not.

Yeah, I've been thinking about how I'm going to show the MCU to my kids when they're old enough to appreciate it. I love the first Iron Man but I feel like Avengers and CW have made that movie a little irrelevant in the MCU. I think I'll probably make them watch Cap 1, Avengers, WS, and CW, in that order. The other films they can watch if they choose to after their required assignment. :lol

Me too. I can't believe that people have said that it doesn't feel like a Captain America movie when it directly follows on from TWS and features Cap's most iconic villain.

I agree... In all honesty I felt this was a cap movie from beginning to end with a little bit of Avengers thrown in the middle. Even then it was about Cap and he was the focus of the battle. for those saying Stark had too much screen time to be a real cap film... Stark was basically the "bad guy". Not in a traditional way of course. It's why the way they did Zemo was perfect. The screen time usually used for the villain was used for Stark.

Still have not had the chance to see it a second time. Waiting for my friend to get moved into his new house so he can go with.

Looking forward to CW blu-ray specs. The last time an MCU film had IMAX footage was GOTG and the 3D version did indeed include the expanded aspect ratio.

Khev... Good to see you got to see it and enjoyed it.. I was wondering where the hell you were.

Btw... The Witch came to my house a day early from Amazon!!!

I think that would actually make for a really strong narrative. IM1 is good but you really could start with TFA, then head right into The Avengers from Cap's point of view, then TWS and CW. Even without seeing the team fractured in AoU it probably wouldn't matter too much because TA ended with Thor leaving and the team being dispersed anyway. TWS shows "Cap calling the shots now" so you might be fine just heading right into Civil War where Cap has his new handpicked team.

In that regard I think Ant-Man is actually the better "in between" movie than AoU just because I think his backstory does make the airport fight that much more fun. AoU does have Steve getting his dance with Peggy but since it didn't technically happen I'd say it's unnecessary. So if I were to trim the fat and have a Phase I to Phase III binger I could see myself doing The First Avenger, The Avengers, The Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, Civil War.

Crazy good movie. Not sure if I like it better than WS, but I need to see it again to determine. It's close.

That's pretty much where I'm at after one viewing too. The more Civil War percolates the more I'm thinking it MIGHT be as good or better than TWS but...I'll have to watch them both again to decide. Bucky taking out the Quinjet pilots in TWS was just so, so good.

Nah, AOU would absolutely be necessary for Sokovia, Vision and Scarlet to have an impact and character knowledge.

Thor movies need not apply. :lol
