Also, the use..or overuse of philosophy and religious symbolism combined with action is something we are still seeing in movies like MOS, BVS and Nolan films.
*ahem*
Luke freed his mind decades before Neo.

Even without the Matrix, Kill Bill still gets made. QT influences for that film came from his love for Asian cinema. I guarantee he knew who Yuen Wo Ping was well before the Matrix.
Blade 2 had better action and a couple of cool villains... But I loved the real world feel of the first film and there is no beating that opening rave scene. Blade 1 was the better story. If you could combined the story of Blade 1 with the action, direction. and villains of Blade 2 you would have a contender for best comic based movie
Going to watch it tonight.
I think the Matrix had it's moments and had it's influence. It just did not last IMO. Action films have gone away from all the Wire fu and super slow motion action scenes. Watching films today and you can't really see any Matrix fingerprints on films. Not Like Pulp Fiction and Braveheart still do. Hell even CW did the two small armies running at each other to brutally fight each other
Nah...Luke was not Jesus. Neo, like Hopeman are Jesus like figures.
Ok ok, **** the Matrix.
See for me Blade 1 had the better action with 2 being an ok attempt at repeating the 1st, but I need to rewatch 2 admittedly it has been awhile.
Prime example being: Blade catching his sunglasses in 1 > same scene in 2.
Plus those hot asian girls singing in 1.
Don't forget the great quotes!
If it makes you feel any better Clown Prince I did think that Rey's "awakening" was kind of Matrix-y. I could just picture her looking at Kylo while being interrogated or after catching Luke's saber and seeing nothing but green code streaming through everything around her.
Everyone is a Jesus knock off, you, me, Robocop, John Connor, Anakin, EVERYBODY.
That Luke thing from the George Lucas book about him seeing himself though, wew boy.
That was very Matrixy
Carrie Ann Moss blew young boys minds back then.
So did Bryan Singer
Okay guys, enough about Keanu Reeves movies and Star Wars. Back to Civil War: Does anyone remember at the beginning of Speed when the elevator crashed to the bottom and the cable it was attached to pulled that giant mechanical crane thing down the shaft? The way the crane bounced back and forth as it went down always reminded me of the TIE Fighter that bounced off the walls of the Death Star interior in Return of the Jedi.
