____ CAPTAIN AMERICA....you sir Lord22, are my hero! :rock

Silvestri is my all time favorite. :rock

It still sounds too much like his past scores, it doesn't have enough of a voice of its own.

Has anyone noticed how soundtracks this year have been pretty crappy? We had Pirates of the Caribbean and Transformers, which both should have had awesome new music. But with Pirates it was pretty much a repeat of previous music, and with Transformers it just wasn't anything special.

It's Silvestri's action movie style. The key part here is the theme. Which he always delivers on. He does theme's like no other. He picks the right time to blast it when the action is at it's highest. And I love him for it.

And I have to disagree...Dark of the Moon's score was fantastic. Battle is a great theme.

Really?
Better than Williams,Goldsmith,Horner,Poledoris and Zimmer?
(Goldsmith and Poledoris are recently deceased but were still a contemporaries)

Can we get links and maybe a blurb from these massive articles, instead of half a page of text? :lol

My expectations went from being severely low to amazing high so I'm really excited for Friday.

Let me here William's new theme music for his movies....oh, that's right, he's done.

Zimmer gets better, but often misses. Unless it's Sherlock Holmes...he knocked that out of the park.

Poledouris is fantasic. But you know...hasn't done anything since he died...

Same with Goldsmith.

No one really does themes any more. Nothing is better then the hero theme blasting at the right moment.

Silvestri will always be my favorite with that.

So what is your timeline comparison?
The last year?
All the artists I mentioned were/are in the business at the same time often competing for the same jobs.

The last 5 years.

That's when I noticed a decline in melodies.

Even Williams failed in that respect with Indy 4. The soundtrack, not the movie. You bearly hear the Raiders march in that thing.

I'm just sayin. I like themes. Silvestri does themes. Hence he's my favorite.

Whateva.

Because he just does his same stuff over and over and over again.

His themes end up the same, everything is ripped off from each other.

While Silvestri's scores sound similar...or alike...the themes arent the same.

The Mummy Returns is not the same as Van Helsing, Van Helsing is not the same as Beowulf.

But Avatar is the same as Titanic.

Yeah, you got me on Horner .
But in fairness Ive caught Silvestri a few times doing the same thing, but not as blatantly as Horner.
