Eh the movie wasn't that bad. Yea it had some cheap stupid jabs at men but that wasn't the whole focus. Wonder woman had the same amount as this did. The only issue is Brie and her comments. It was a solid marvel movie but I don't think she deserves the top spot now that we have better heroes coming. Also please put rogue in her next movie.

Movie wasn't groundbreaking it was just a movie. Nothing new was done.

hunh?

CM is expected to make $69-$75 million for this weekend giving it a drop in the 50%-55% range NOT a 69% drop you silly forum person you :lol

Female viewership actually increased not decreased.

It's 69% between Thursday-Friday opening and this Friday. It makes for a better headline than 50-55% weekend to weekend. We have to sensationalize you know! :rotfl

Well....

Did Disney know that my excitement for End Game would make me go see CM (more than once) and maybe even be more forgiving towards it due to its proximity to End Game.

Umm hell yeah they knew!!!

Listen i’m even starting to believe Disney is purposely trafficking in controversial marketing (Larson, End Game Poster Okoye, Gunn) to generate even more buzz.

The movie is a certified huge success and unfortunately the folks that were hoping the lead actress would get her comeuppance by the movie suffering a huge second week catastrophe have to move on. Turns out people are more invested in watching cool movies than they are in playing a part in weird culture wars.

It's Marvel. Riding extremely high right now. A 90 minute movie showing nothing but Stan Lee on the toilet at various times of his life would make that much.

True. Tho I was thinking more of a movie with a nameless unknown SHIELD agent wandering thru DC, getting coffee, reading the paper, then we see he's wearing a Stark Industries hoody and the barrista has a Wakanda tat, then the agent wanders past Steve Rogers old apartment, then he meets Sharon Carter and they stand by a metal fence with messages about the dusted, then they go sit on a bench for a while and stare at the Potomac.

After half an hour of a spectacular sequence of cloud patterns (that later explode into an online controversy because, to some, they look like the Batman signal, and to others the Energizer bunny), the SHIELD agent leaves Sharon Carter and drives to Target and buys a Thor Funko Pop, toilet paper, and two bags of chips. He then drives to an uninteresting house in a cookie cutter suburb and has a meal of Marvel commemorative tomato soup and chips. Then he puts on his Iron Patriot pjs, sets his Captain America alarm clock, and goes to bed. The End.

While the film, titled "Aftermath" sweeps the Oscars, Golden Globes, and the Screen Actors Guild Awards, it remained controversial:horror, in that the main character was played by a 40-something uncredited white male, while a known actress had a secondary role and few lines:mad:. And while most critics praised the subliminal messages of profound loss and spare, lean, script - comparing it to Citizen Kane - in later years, as one skeptic investigative journalist pointed out:

"Can't reveal my sources but more than person working for Disney told me the execs knew d@mn good and well they'd make millions on any *&^% they put out right before End Game. There's internal memos about who could make something that would stir up the fans the cheapest. The execs gave the project the code name "Summer Vacation" and they all held stock options. For *&^% sake, Feige's wife's second cousin was the lead, and the man's a plumber who'd never been on a movie set before!":monkey3

I really don't remember the WW movie taking cheap shots at men. Dianna came from a Matriarchy society, so our world was very strange to her. She wanted to above all, help mankind. She stood up to her mother, She called out the British general, as he deserved. She inspired the others with her. She was more heroic just in her walk through no-mans land. Then CM's was in the whole last battle scene. IMHO

Still gives me chills!

That'll show them! They'll never recover from missing out on that whole $10 bucks!

Yeah, but that missing 10$ translates to the other stuff that won't get purchased. Like all those SW toys that sit on shelves. Maybe. IMO depends on what Russos do with her in EG too.

To be fair (and CM didn't get my $$$ either) people forget Cap was often thought of as the most boring Avenger until TWS.

No ticket, no figures. Am I the only one? Doubt it. Pancake ass and her big mouth is gonna cost them some money. Maybe not much, but some. To be honest, I thought it looked boring before she opened her mouth.

Hope your son has a quick recovery Loki.

Thanks... He seems ok. Was fine most of yesterday and was thinking of going today, but mom said No...:(

If it’s a must see movie I am there first show opening night regardless if wife and son are able to go or not.

I used to do that too. I Would go with my friend and his wife opening night. But as my kids got older (now 13..twins) I started to feel guilty. Although he (mainly my son cares) was **** out of luck for Infinity War and same will go for End Game since Thursday are school nights...:lol Just means I get to go again on Sunday morning for a second viewing. :yess:

So fun being a parent and getting to torture your kids for a change.... Sometimes the guilty pleasures are the most rewarding...:monkey3

That'll show her. She will be so upset that this movie will make a Billion and she has to live life as a famous celebrity, millionaire while some angry nobodies hate her.

Captain Marvel' Tops $760 Million Worldwide!

https://www.imdb.com/news/ni6241401...pf_rd_t=15061&pf_rd_i=homepage&ref_=hm_nw_tp1

For a second weekend in a row Disney and Marvel's Captain Marvel topped the weekend box office as it has now posted over $760 million worldwide in just twelve days in global release. Overall, the weekend ended up topping the same weekend last year for a second straight week as both Wonder Park and Five Feet Apart outperformed expectations with their opening weekend performance. At the same time Lionsgate's release of Pantelion's No Manches Frida 2 delivered a top ten finish from just 472 theaters, topping Focus's disappointing release of Captive State, which struggled in its debut in over 2,500 locations. Disney's Captain Marvel topped the weekend box office for a second weekend in a row, delivering an estimated $69.3 million sophomore frame, dipping -54.8% and outperforming the -56% average second weekend dip for a film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This pushes the film's domestic cume over $266 million after just ten days in domestic release.

I don't think anyone at Marvel cares whether their BILLION dollars comes from Toys, T-shirts, Tickets, or men, women, young people or old ones, comic fans or movie fans...they are making a billion dollars so whatever she did or didn't do seemed to work out for them. Anyone that thinks Marvel is in this to make friends and not money may be mistaken. The movie has a better second week hold than IW, AOU, or CW so what in the world is the downside for them...? Some angry fans don't think Marvel wants their money...? Well they are right, Marvel doesn't as long as someone else is ready to buy a ticket.

I normally wait for most comic book movies to come to TV before watching. This I paid to watch twice just because I got annoyed with of all of the social media trolling the right were doing under every Captain Marvel ad. Their boycott was cancelled out by people like me.

Yep and a whole bunch of other people too! Disney in particular and Marvel did not get to where they are by not understanding the marketplace and being able to not only grow it but strategically shape it around their own business objectives. Disney does not need to bend over backwards and worry about offending the folks who went out to see Blade on opening night because they are focused on growing the audience. This frustrates some people because they feel that they own these characters because they have been reading comics since they were 5 and blah, blah, blah, but they don't and the filmmakers, writers, and actors who get this stuff made owe them absolutely nothing. They make their movie...if you like it the movie makers get your money, if you don't...they don't...end of transaction.
